ry cooder never got movie credit for his work on crossroads. hes definitely an under rated guitarist. a shame nobody knows what a beast he is on guitar. incredible musician.
Agreed, very accomplished musician. Great work with the magic band for captain beefheart, his solo work and he did some work with the Buena Vista social club which was amazing as well. 👏
We’ll.. I think you’ll find plenty of people know. Bought Boomer’s Story 50 years ago. He’s one of the real antidotes to all the shitty noise on the planet that some people think is music. IMHO!
This song is absolutely amazing. I love this one. The movie is good, but the music is absolutely amazing. Great job Ry Cooder you're truly gifted. And great job on the movie Ralph Machio.
If that doesn't call to you, you are dead inside. It says everything there is to say about someone losing another and feeling down. A cold, rainy day at the end of the bar by yourself. Bartender feeling your pain just sending down those shots.
I have to be careful not to start crying .....😪 My dad was a bluesman, not that he could play the guitar so well, but just his whole life ....I'm thinking of you
Ry taught Keith Richards how to use Open G tuning. Thats what you're listening to here. Keith still uses it on most of his playing. You could call Ry a master guitarist of the century. Adios ya'll
Just beautiful!! All the feels!! Not many capture that warmth of tone with piercing clarity punching through. Truly awesome. Hope it didn't cost you your soul though hahaha!!!
No, dude, (with much respect), I listened to Ry Cooder cover, and your pretty spot on! Well, done! Fact, I get the tuning, you actually show me how too play it! Thank you!
@Martin Mcgimpsey yeah it's in Open D or it seems it to me. I find the trick is in the right hand with picking out and muting certain strings. Glad it's helped
@@duriebrorosler4833 Wow, DurieBroRosler, that’s so cool, thanks, I figure it was! At least that’s what I was going to try! That is so cool of you! Awesome!
They're humbuckers with an option to split the coils. It's my cousins guitar, so I'm not sure about specific pickups. But it's only a cheap 335s Epiphone....around £350. Remember I'm in the middle position with the neck on humbucker and the bridge split to single coil. But thanks for the kind words. That film is sorta burnt into my memory, know melody very well ha
I'd check the description. Remember noting it down in there, but I think there's a tight room/plate reverb, a spring reverb and tremolo effects wise. Hope that helps
I think its an open D chord if I remember correctly 🤔 I should've have remembered to mention it in my description but forgot 😅 I'm pretty sure it's open D tho
Everytime my wife says I have too many guitars, I tell her, "But I haven't found the one that sounds like that yet!!" Works Everytime!
You can never have enough 🤣
😂
Guitars and fishing rods too many still not enough nice work durie
I heard today, Keith Richards B'day, he has 3,000. Keep plucking....
I have 35 little sweeties and each and everyone has it's place. They're just so beautiful.
Ry, leader of the 'musician's musicians'...good one to emulate
Thanks 👍

Ry always blows my mind . Thank God for giving us such men . And he's privat like a kid , just one of us .
Thanks so much

👏
My mistake. I meant to say Arlen Roth never got credit for his work on Crossroads. Hes the one who really did most of the slide work in the movie.
@salski70 yeah I've read that
Southern Comfort

Precision and emotion don't always go together. They're dancing just fine here. Thank you for a top-flight performance.
Ahh that's kind of you to say. I was pretty down in the dumps that week, probably helped
Open G to the max! Thanks for teaching Keith how to do it!
You got it!

The movie is a favourite of mine deffo
This is some very goog slide playing. Ry Cooder was a great player.

Ahhh cheers mate 👍
This tone!!! 🤌 great playing as well!!
Ahh cheers mate 👍
I'm only using a blues jnr that's dialled in on the edge of breakup. Got two types of reverb on low and that tremolo, no extra drive.
If that doesn't call to you, you are dead inside. It says everything there is to say about someone losing another and feeling down. A cold, rainy day at the end of the bar by yourself. Bartender feeling your pain just sending down those shots.
I felt pretty down at the time, It was very therapeutic to play it. Was easy to get in the zone
you got the feeling man keep on playin' da blues a cure for all you ailments
Ahh thank you 👍

Hahaha no it never, just many years of practice 😅
Just the most beautiful thing
Hey very kind, I'm just copying Ry though thank you

That's just mmm good... I don't care what guitar, pickups or coil splits you're using... it would still be diamond grade.
Thanks 👍
What pickups are this guitar? They sound great.
Your playing and phrasing is spot on 👍
They're humbuckers with an option to split the coils. It's my cousins guitar, so I'm not sure about specific pickups. But it's only a cheap 335s Epiphone....around £350.

What effects might you be using sounds so sweet and great slide playing
I'd check the description. Remember noting it down in there, but I think there's a tight room/plate reverb, a spring reverb and tremolo effects wise. Hope that helps
Nice slide playing had the chance to see Ry many times in LA in the 70"s what a legend.@@duriebrorosler4833

Thanks
楽しそうだなぁ。
Is this Standart- or Open-Tuning ?
Its an open D tuning if my memory serves me correctly
Awesome what guitar is that?
Thanks, it's an Epiphone es335 with splitable humbuckers. Not actually my guitar
Open D Tuning ?
Yeah I think it was, I probably should have put that in the description so I'd remember further down the line 😅
But yeah I'm pretty sure it's open D
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Thanks 👍
es dropp G?
I think its an open D chord if I remember correctly 🤔 I should've have remembered to mention it in my description but forgot 😅
I'm pretty sure it's open D tho
