Ry Cooder - Feelin Bad Blues

- Tried to get more of the feel of this rather than going for exact note for note, after a stressful week playing this has been the tonic/remedy I've needed.
To try and capture the tone Ry has on this song I've used Epiphone ES 335 that has split humbuckers. The Bridge pickup is split to single coil and the Neck is the Humbucker, and I'm in the middle position to try to emulate Ry's Coodercaster sound.

ry cooder never got movie credit for his work on crossroads. hes definitely an under rated guitarist. a shame nobody knows what a beast he is on guitar. incredible musician.

Great work with the magic band for captain beefheart, his solo work and he did some work with the Buena Vista social club which was amazing as well.

I felt pretty down at the time, It was very therapeutic to play it. Was easy to get in the zone

I'm only using a blues jnr that's dialled in on the edge of breakup. Got two types of reverb on low and that tremolo, no extra drive.

@Martin Mcgimpsey yeah it's in Open D or it seems it to me. I find the trick is in the right hand with picking out and muting certain strings. Glad it's helped

Ry taught Keith Richards how to use Open G tuning. Thats what you're listening to here. Keith still uses it on most of his playing. You could call Ry a master guitarist of the century. Adios ya'll

What effects might you be using sounds so sweet and great slide playing
I'd check the description. Remember noting it down in there, but I think there's a tight room/plate reverb, a spring reverb and tremolo effects wise. Hope that helps

What pickups are this guitar? They sound great.

They're humbuckers with an option to split the coils. It's my cousins guitar, so I'm not sure about specific pickups. But it's only a cheap 335s Epiphone....around £350.
