I'm not much of a fan of the books, but seriously, give her a break. Even though the books are not that good, you can actually see how much she loves writing, and the length of her books show it. Plus, look at how much she has improved with The Host? Authors now praise her, and writing became so much good. If you don't like the books, that is okay, I don't mind when u give your opinion, but when you mess with the author? That's just too much.
Stephenie I love you so much, thank you for writing whole Twilight Saga, without Twilight I am nothing, just ordinary girl,my world is not same when I watch Twilight *_*
I absolutely love the Twilight series, it's just amazing. I'm so in love with Bella, she's so sweet and innocent, but at the same time does not want to be percieved in that way. I love these books! One of my favourite series ever!
other authors criticize her because they're jealous of her success, and feel that she doesn't deserve it because her writing isn't that amazing. Having said that, I LOVE Twilight ;) XD
Twilight is an amazing book, never have I been so into characters and their relationships, I just couldn't stop reading, I was up all night like it possesed me..The scenes are so real I could feel everything Bella felt, amazing..can't wait to read the other books!
if you hate this person, why are you watching a video interviewing them? also, she's clearly not talentless as she's made millions off of her work, more than you will ever achieve in your small, meaningless, insignificant life. So the best you can do is write spiteful, and just in many ways...wrong...comments on youtube :)
He openly admits he STALKED her for MONTHS. He TAKES THE ENGINE OUT OF HER CAR to avoid her going to see Jacob, he ISOLATES HER FURTHER, to the point that when Edawrd and his family break all contacts with Bella in 'New Moon', she reacts as if she cannot continue living, not to mention the humongous amount of psychological abuse Bella both goes through from Edward and makes Jacob go through.
I'm reading 'Twilight' at the minute and so I thought I would just go take a look at the author. What a truly lovely, lovely and modest lady! Go Stephanie!
Just to mention, Vlad Dracula wasn't a King, he was a Prince. Wallachia was a Principality, not a Kingdom. And Dracula was not the first Vampire novel. "Carmilla" by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu was published in 1872, predating "Dracula" by 25 years. The first actual Vampire story was "The Vampyre" by Lord Byron's doctor John William Polidori in 1819
For every 100 fans there will be another 100 people that hate you. Big deal. She is now rich and you guys are still living with your mommy and daddy's house looking for negative things to say because in realty your life sucks ass, as your flipping burgers for McDonald's. You don't have to be good at anything to be a success, the point is to try and see where it takes you. That is what stephenie has done.
I bet half of you commenting negative things on twilight never even read the whole book... Twilight is an excellent book. Being a Harry Potter fan, I don't think it's as good as Harry Potter, but I think it is extremely underrated.
it's not really how good u can write, it's about how good the story is. you can be the best writer in the world, but if you don't have that brilliant idea that makes you unique, then it's redundant and no one will care for it. i applaud her for what she has done, and even though she isn't the best at writing, she had a good idea and did a moderate job of translating it the best she could. i think perfect writing is boring anyway, and she deserves all her success. people stop bitching.
@puggdogg Btw in LOTR books, are the battles described well? Or do they just say they battled and the aftermath? Are the movies over glorified battle sequences?
im with steph, i love jacob and edward both! i cant see how anyone could love one and not the other they are both really good characters. i dont want to be a Story Spoiler so i wont tell you who i think Bella should choose to be with, But for those who have already read all 4 books like me, i think its not hard for them to guess :P.
I have, and I wish I hadn't. And It IS.There is NO LOVE in Twilight, only LUST. That's ALL THERE IS. GODDAMN IT! When, WHEN did Bella stop describing Edward as a David's statue - literally! - and talk about how he is as a person, realizing that something is so not right with what he's doing to her - damn, he hurts her more than the bad vamps WHILE PROTECTING HER! That, not counting the stalking and emotional abuse. If ANYONE thinks they're in true love, I want to ba AFAP from them.
Poorly written rubbish with no trace of romanticism and/or action, with a despicable Mary Sue as the lead character? A ghastly book that sets Feminism back 10.000 years, with Bella HAVING to be with someone and NEVER making her own choicesm and completely unlikeable to boot, deep as a kiddie's pool, who only loves Sparklepire because he's 'hot' so to speak? The most disturbing relationship since 'Wuthering Heights'?
@SmapAttack no you have to go back in time to change something (you have to give yourself the HP obliviation spell) because if you went back in time to prevent the birth of SM then your future self wouldnt have to prevent her birth for she was never born. its confusing. stupid time paradox XP
@AugustineEmmeline I was so scared that one of the Twilight fans will full rip on this. But then not all fan fiction writer's are like her. I read some pieces that came up with better story lines and more depth in characters than the original author. However when we hear "fan fiction" it is often deemed to be not of good enough quality. It is a shame at times to know that there are plenty of writers on their blogs and websites that come up with better material and can not get published.
@JemaMarterosyan If you want to read a book about vampires, read "The Vampire Chronicles" by Anne Rice. THAT is a great series. Not this crap. The reason why it sucks is that Meyer doesn't describe every character as it should be. Read Stephen King's novels, every single character is described in details and the smallest one has more facial expressions than Bella, who seems like a stick figure. But right, I forgot, you people don't read other books because they're too long.
@ashgirl911firefly Ok I'm curious what is it about the books that are amazing, I read comics that have more depth and character in them tell me how this woman is a genius?
yeah i'm sure it was a dream and not the fact that Charlaine Harris had already written like 6 or 7 books in her vampire series about the romance between a vampire and a human girl
Thank you Miss Meyer, because of you,now I know I can become a millionaire writing books aimed to sexually repressed teenagers That's genius,I'll give her that
@justincucu When I did my GCSE (it's a British exam), I had to write a long essay on one of Emily Bronte's poems. Somehow, I don't see that happening for Stephenie Meyer. As for Meyer's books being so popular, I'm guessing that the publishers didn't like it when they analysed it themselves, but put it out there anyway because they knew it would sell. Just because it's popular doesn't make it good, it was probably just a solid investment.
I believe dreams are good to write book and later film. Sometimes I have amazing dreams. Problem is I don't remember. I only know it was very good. But now I have notebook just in case to wright when I wake up.
Props for taking a shot at it. I like your response. However you mentioned nothing about vampires other than its not some scary vampire story. Are you saying it's just a romance novel and nothing else?
Yep. I definitely did lose some... D': I'm mostly reading Garrison Keillor and Stephen King right now to get better... and going through my old rec reading sheets. :D
@NFLGuru22 ok i overreacted when i said no one cares about your opinion, ur right, i really like twilight and Stephenie Meyer but that doesn't give me the right to insult others, ur right, i'm really sorry :) u have a right to hate twilight just like i have a right to like twilight and the comment section is to just put our own opinion and i shouldn't have critized u like that, i hope u forgive me
I found it on google because I needed the spelling of her name.] People hate the book because it's very poorly written. The plot is dire and you need alot of patience. It's spawned hundreds of fantards who won't listen and accept other opinions. The book uses words that don't exist. The writer loves the letter I, to the point where there is 6 i's in 4 sentances. A monkey can write better. Atr least the story would go somewhere and have a great ending (hoy Hoy hoy)
Not replace. Example here: I woke up and I had breakfast. After I went to school where I saw Edward What could of replaced it: After waking up, I got ready and ate breakfast quickly. I then hurried for school to meet up with edward. Number of Is first: 4 Mine: 2
She meets the literary demand of a certain demographic that doesn't really care about a logical story and only want something to connect with their desires and and emotions. Everyone else recognizes her work as a love story that's been done the world over, but with vampires instead of montegues.
good stories don't rely on pre-existing material to be good. They have to come straight from the imagination which you don't have stephenie meyer Twilight = Pride and Prejudice New Moon = Romeo and Juliet Eclipse = Wuthering Heights Breaking Dawn = Midsummer Night's Dream just a reminder stephenie meyer Midsummer Night's Dream isn't a novel it's a play -_-
Stephenie Meyer in no way was original to her series! Maybe the whole sparkling in the sun for a vampire thing but every plot and character trait and background she put into her work came from ANNE RICE'S THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES SERIES which is a critically acclaimed series and has one film adaptation, Interview with the Vampire. Stephenie Meyer ripped off the child vampire Claudia (Jane), Theater Des Vampires (Volturi), and sympathetic vampire Louis (Edward). Twihards don't get mad, #truth!
@sephylafudge and others! come on,snap out of it! I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter. So, because of all the hating going on between HP and TWL fans, I decided to read the Twilight books. All of them. & guess what? I was impressed.Maybe, you should try it. I mean, has Meyer done anything wrong, only if writing a best seller is wrong? Woman's got imagination. And we should be happy, that there are people on this world giving us a reason to read, a reason to love. So thmbs up 4 wizards AND vampires!
@DeathlyDavid Mmm To Kill a Mockingbird is my absolute favorite, as well :) Grapes of Wrath, too. But anyhow, I understand your point. I'm not sure what you want me to do with it, because I've always been of the upmost empathy. I love Twilight :) So? It's just a fun read. Of all the horrors in this world a teen romance novel should not be made into one. Goodbye, David, and take care of yourself. I wish you happiness :)
@DeathlyDavid Edward is what every girl deserves :) You can learn from him, actually. Respects them, protects them, is not selfish. He's an entirely new heroine in this lighter world of vampires. The whole heart of the story revolves around him, his values- NOT because he's a vampire. But because how incredible his love is for Bella and how incredible his personality is. NOT in the movies. But the books, without lust, illustrate him as a virtuous and respectable guy. He's not sex crazed. Get it?
@DeathlyDavid And where is it written that a novel must have a "bring into the real world life lesson", anyhow? Because from what I see of people like you, poking around at other people who enjoy these books as you watch a 4 minute interview ABOUT the books, the "real world" frankly sucks. Empathy, my friend, empathy is what we should all practice. Loving each other no matter insignificant things like the choice of books we read. OK? I respect your end of the spectrum. Respect theirs. Easy :)
@DeathlyDavid David, I never did say that I personally loved it, did I? Do I have to to defend those who DO from preconceived judgments about them? Because now EVERYONE that reads them is a googly-eyed fan who unknowingly reads it for the sexual aspect- so they're apparently "stupid people". People love them because of the story. They're an entirely new genre of vampire, targeted for the light of heart. Not for those who want Anne Rice's vampires. You can't stop its fame by your petty comments.
100 bucks this woman doesn't know a THING about vampires or werewolves. And I bet those fangirls are like "I WUV VAMPIRES AND WAREWULVEZ1!!11!!!" because of Twillight. To be honest, I think Meyer wouldve been better off NOT publishing the book, or AT LEAST not let it turn into a movie. Rather, as a private thing to show to friends and family, and not to the corny teen world we have to live in :|
you know I kinda like her. Her books are surely NOT SMART. And she probably is not either. But, look at her, she doesn't say she is wonderful or better that King or whatever. That's her fans who start all the bullshit wars. She is kind, you can see it in your eyes. And, though Steven King was so hilarious in that answer video ("I am just a two-year-old in comparison"), he was...you know...unkind and too proud of himself. Gosh, everybody knows he writes well, why to scream it in the internet?
I stopped liking twilight awhile ago and never saw the "beauty" of Edward and Bella's relationship. They were my least favorite characters and because everything was from Bella's POV, I just hated them even more. I even missed out of the lives of the other characters who possibly have a more "interesting" background, and I really wish Stephenie wrote separate books about them than just talking about Bella. Nevertheless, I hate the series, but I met Meyer, and she's a really sweet person :)
@charmichanify Setting aside my admittedly biased opinion of the series, I am curious as to what you would describe "true and pure love" to be. A lot of fans hail these books for the beauty of the protagonists' "love" for each other, but they don't really develop a relationship. I would probably say that what Bella has is infatuation, due to the seemingly never-ending prose devoted to describing Edward's looks, and what Edward has is lust, driven partially by his vampire tendencies.
What I find hilarious is that she even stated "I'm no professional writer, but an AMATEUR" Yeah she actually said that in a interview. Stephen King ranks her as his second worst writer. Her books suck so much somebody came up with 95 reasons why the Twilight series suck! Yeah its that bad! And it appears her writing is dumbing down everyone who reads her books, especially those bloody annoying fangirls! But most of all I hate her work cause VAMPIRES DON'T FUCKING SPARKLE & AREN'T VEGES!!!
@Clamp2005 Why are you like that? What have I ever done to you? Can't you accept that some people like the books without insulting them? What aspect of Bellas and Edwards love is paedophiliac? And why did you read all of her books if you didn't like them? Are you that masochistic or do you simply have nothing better to do with yor time? And I think, as I read all the books myself, I'm free to give my opinion as well without being insulted by some self-righteous guy who doesn't know me.
yah i really enjoy the books i'm on the second book i got the book 5 days ago and already on page 430 its intresting but what so far i read through it is that they say edward i think their trying to kill him or something cuz alice said "i don't kno what is going to happen to edward becuz he doesn't pick up my calls it was something like that i got worried about edward in the story i was so serious D:
Let me get this straight: A girl meets a vampire. They fall in love. He loves her, but he wants to kill her. Then a werewolf falls in love with her, but she only likes him as a friend. There is a love triangle between necrophilia and beastiality, she wants to become a vampire, but he wants to marry her first. So, at the age of 18, she gets married. However, his venomous semen impregnates her, and therefore the baby claws its way out of her womb. Oh, and she has an unhealthy obsession w/ Edward.
Just by liking Harry Potter is the stupidest reason to not like Twilight. I'm not a hardcore fan of any of them, but, ofcourse, I grew up with Harry Potter and I like it. The Twilight stories didn't interest me. I got here from watching a Meyer parody *cough*. I just think it's silly that you have to choose one. Sigh.
No, her books aren't very good, but I'll say this: at least she's getting people to read. Yes, it's unrealistic, poorly-written, fluffy masturbation material, but at least people are actively reading it instead of passively watching it. And who knows? Maybe those readers will eventually move onto bigger and better literature.
@haxoringwebpage Now I didn't say I knew more about vampires, but I think we can tell that If Edward was a vampire, he'd kill Bella and not be a sparkly fairy, And that if Jacob was a werewolf, then he would probably do the same and kill Bella, plus, What I wrote was just an opinion. Please don't turn this into a flame war.
I watched the movies and thought they were ok, but then I read some pages from one of the books and was like "WHAT IS THIS IT'S HORRIBLE" She writes like a 10-year-old girl
Not with the whole vampire love story, that is so overdone. What I mean by creative is like how she made a whole new world for vampires, and I hadn't read anything like that before, and I think making a whole world new world for your characters is very cool. And again, it's just my opinion. I don't wanna start anything.
In my opinion, I'm not a fan of the books, but the story is actually kind of okay. And Stephenie Meyer isn't a good writer at all, but she is creative. And she is kind of a role model since she's living proof that you can be successful if you persevere, and go for your dreams. (No offense to anyone who likes her books, this is just my opinion)
Thanks dude. Couldn't have said it any better. :-) And I'm pretty sure most of those who keep flaming here haven't even read the books. Give it a try people! My teenager days are far from over and I loved the books! All 4 of them. Yes, I am into fantastic stories, and yes, I liked the love story between Bella and Edward (even though I am a guy ;-).
I think, that first - "twilight" is the best, because the story is most interesting, when you don't know nothing about book characters, their secrets. In general stephanie meyer had really interesting idea to white about human and vampire. I had good time, when I read S. Meyer books. I just can say thanks for writer, good job
You just read my reply dude. And I remember you said you were leaving. I guess I can't expect reasonable action from you. Oh well, I'm lying or not, God knows. That's enough. You want to believe or not, your choice. Do you think I care? lol
@XXXMASTERISEXXX sorry,,i said it kinda wrong...i know it was stephen king...i hate him....i love both Meyer and Rowlings...so sorry if i said anything bad...i had some family probs few weeks back...so i overreacted a bit,,,,sorry, but i kinda hate Stephen King now for what he said.............
Oh, "Forks." ??? Thank god she changed that title! And Thank you for enlightening me. I couldn't quite hear the word "forks" !! Hard to beleive she came up with that title all along her journey to the publisher !! Imagine a series called a Forks Saga?! Or, Forks with Robert Pattinson? !!
@cilla310 if you've ever been pregnant and had children. Many women lose their memory and ability to focus. People call it pregnancy brain, you forget shit all the time. Then when the baby comes you're so busy running around that you can't keep a thought in your head for very long. Some women get their memory back some don't. That's what she was talking about. :)
ok for the people who thinks she has a *shitty imagination* i'd love to see you...in fact i DARE you all to write your own story and post it on youtube. And then we'll judge who has a better imagination. I'm sure i'll know what the answer will be.
the book was very creative, i never thought about it but looking back now, all the vampire books i read in the past sucks. i like twilight best then the rest. very logical plot esp. her brand of vampire unlike those that can turn to bats, come on
Ah but the thing is there is this little thing called freedom of speech. And since she is a writer calling her a bad writer means we are able to criticize her because thats one of the things that comes with being a writer.
calm down people. people have their own beliefs and views but damn! i didn't know reading books could lead to so much argument online! well i actually did know but still, not my point. people are so ridickkk!
@TheFartingElf Her books are not bad, and if her imagination says so, vampires DO sparkle. It's just a story, for God's sake. I'm a huge fan, but I also like to read other books, even though Imma fiction type.
omg if she could here any plea it would be from me PLEASE PLEASE PICK UP THE MIDNIGHT SUN STORY AGAIN i crave MORE even after finishing all 4 bookos owning them and the first movie soon to be the second one
you know what their are other vampire books better than twilight this book should be in the child section the book has no plot it's pointless. shit eternal was better than this lol, evernight and bluebloods.
@pattinson789 I agree it's ridiculous and irritating that she claims her sparkle-butt meyerpires are vampires, but...I hardly think that is the biggest issue in those books...
If you hate twilight so much why are you watching this video…..

Oh, I so hope that Stephenie Meyer will write more books for the Twilight Saga! I just can't get enough!
Love stephenie Meyer

I am so happy that you wrote those books! You have a great talent! Please write some more!
JK Rowling wrote a better love story in one WORD than Meyer's four books:
"Always."
"It does no good to dwell on dreams"-Dumbledore

The Twilight saga is better than what haters give it credit for. I'm Team Everyone in the books and Team Jacob in the movies!
wow, why is everyone hating on on her ?
She is.....o my! Awesome! Then there was a dream.....:) thanks Steph!

I admit that Twilight was not a very good movie. But I'm sure the second part it's gonna be great.
and i agree with pattypoor3! midnight sun needs get published! i read the partial draft and it makes me want to buy it sooooo badly!!!!!!!!!
Better authors than Stephenie Meyer:
Suzanne Collins
J.K Rowling
Stephen King
J.R.R Tolkien..
and every other author in the world.
She meets the literary demand of a certain demographic that doesn't really care about a logical story and only want something to connect with their desires and and emotions. Everyone else recognizes her work as a love story that's been done the world over, but with vampires instead of montegues.
We must go back in time and prevent the birth of Stephenie Meyer.
good stories don't rely on pre-existing material to be good. They have to come straight from the imagination which you don't have stephenie meyer
Twilight = Pride and Prejudice
New Moon = Romeo and Juliet
Eclipse = Wuthering Heights
Breaking Dawn = Midsummer Night's Dream
just a reminder stephenie meyer Midsummer Night's Dream isn't a novel it's a play -_-
it is much differnet than the book but its still awesome! you should watch it, its a great movie!!
@BearsWithThumbs well spoken, smart person.
I must agree with you - 100%. *nods*
im glad she didnt name it "Forks" lol
and she says she thought she would pa ppl to read her book!!!!!! lol
@charmichanify
Setting aside my admittedly biased opinion of the series, I am curious as to what you would describe "true and pure love" to be.
And I think, as I read all the books myself, I'm free to give my opinion as well without being insulted by some self-righteous guy who doesn't know me.
yah i really enjoy the books i'm on the second book i got the book 5 days ago and already on page 430 its intresting
but what so far i read through it is that they say edward i think their trying to kill him or something cuz alice said "i don't kno what is going to happen to edward becuz he doesn't pick up my calls it was something like that i got worried about edward in the story i was so serious D:
I watched the movies and thought they were ok, but then I read some pages from one of the books and was like "WHAT IS THIS IT'S HORRIBLE"
She writes like a 10-year-old girl
And I'm pretty sure most of those who keep flaming here haven't even read the books.
Do you think I care? lol
@XXXMASTERISEXXX
sorry,,i said it kinda wrong...i know it was stephen king...i hate him....i love both Meyer and Rowlings...so sorry if i said anything bad...i had some family probs few weeks back...so i overreacted a bit,,,,sorry, but i kinda hate Stephen King now for what he said.............
