They probably use this whole map for multiple multiplayer maps but they render in the selected area where your playing. Firing range could be a new map coming in the future and when we play it it will be fully rendered.
That's not how that works, the map is fully render that the final version. Idk why they left all that in but everything else that isn't the actual playable map is just LOD. Maybe they had plans for multiple warzone maps idk but all that data is eating up storage and memory, that's is really bad optimization.

When on Skyline you can fly around and find the map "Casino" which was a DLC map in BO4 so I'm hopeful that they can bring that map to BO6 because I thought that was a decent map. That's Casino at 6:48 with the green roof.
If you keep flying around outside skyline, you'll find that there's actually 5-6 of the existing multiplayer maps scattered around. Looks like a new warzone map called Avalon that is planned for release in a later season. Honorable mentions include obviously Lowtown (visible from skyline actually, off the bathroom side of the map. Love showing people in multi.), Red Card, Extraction, Protocol, the gunfight maps Heirloom and stakeout, and I almost guarantee the Gala map will be inside one of the bigger buildings as well. I'm probably forgetting some but I also haven't fully explored all of the areas yet. Very fun to see the details though! (Yes I'm aware that he shows a good bit of those in the video as well, just wanted to list the ones he maybe missed.)
As a game dev I can safely say that most people who are complaining about optimization in the comments here have no idea what the fuck they are talking about lmao. I'm not saying Bo6 doesn't have issues, because it does, but what you're all seeing with the oob stuff is super reasonable and isn't hurting your performance by much, if at all.
To me this just shows how good of an engine it actually is, and how much work they've already put into the map before any of this stuff is even released.
From another video, which started in Stakeout, we could see like 12 maps. For starters, any BO6 map that says it's located in Avalon during the load screen is in the same map. I haven't tried the Codcaster thing in all the maps, but wouldn't be surprised if all the Avalon maps had the whole Avalon out of bounds. Skyline and Stakeout are in opposite corners of the Avalon map. You can find each other, but Stakeout might be hard to find because of its location. Other maps found are BO2 Yemen 12:00, BO1 Firing Range, BO1 WMD (without snow), BO2 Dig, BO6 S1 Extraction and maybe a couple more I may be forgetting. No wonder I have fps problems in this game...
Almost every single map that takes place is Avalon is part of the Warzone map which was supposed to come out instead of Area 99. There's Hacienda, WMD, Lowtown, Red Card, Firing Range, Protocol, The Casino Lutazzi from the campaign, Extraction, and the layout from Dig/Courtyard. Hacienda is already confirmed, but we might see any of the included maps eventually.
Most of that stuff doesn't take a toll on performance, its to far away to be rendered while playing normally. Youll notice things popping into place while flying around in free cam.
The landmass itself will cause performance dip, low poly object to. And even if it has zero consequences, there's litteraly zero benefit to it. It's dumb, plain and simple.

I absolutely loved doing this in all of the recent modern warfare games, if you set spectator to "free" you can use the flycam in spectator mode, you can also use theater mode in call of duty black ops cold war, i wanted to take a look at the ships in "Armada" and you can get a good look at the Ticonderoga class cruiser "USS Armstrong" and see all the cool details and textures up close, like the slogan "peace through power, let the shells ring!", i also spotted the F4 phantom from a black ops 1 jungle map in black ops 4 using theater mode and it was pretty detailed, you could make out the lettering "USS Kitty Hawk" which I'm guessing is the American supercarrier it is assigned to.
Wow so glad I found this video. Nice work And like WTF Blops devs, this is like the opposite of the 90-00s space optimizations and such I guess this could make sense if there was one “map” and then they put killzones around. But the suboptimal overrendering is at least a little problematic
To be fair, they are making multiple maps and modes blend into 1 sandbox. So it easier for developement and better enviromental story telling. I personally love how they are doing it. It makes use of whats already created for backgrounds and helps load times. I love it.
Maybe the idea is to save time by going ahead and having this lower quality prerender so that as they go in and add each map over time and eventually the entire Warzone map the game doesn’t really get much bigger overall and the implementation of each map is quicker/easier? Idk it seems dumb but there could actually be reasons for this.
That first town might be the new resurgence map and it will have nuclear waste around the perimeter. Also thats not snow. Its from a dry lake bed here in Nevada. Yucca flats is the real are they had nuketowns. You can see one in indiana jones crystal skull.

Who remembers that resurgence play list that had a COD4 map as a small POI. I just can't remember the name of that COD4 map, had 2 floors and a patio like in the middle. It was part of the cut scene where we see the Gold Pistol used to assasinate someone tied up in the middle.
They Delayed Avalon until late next year so they can port back Verdansk. Since everyone loves Verdansk. I personally would love Avalon to launch first because it just makes so much sense with the story, maps and everything this game is doing. But whatre yah gonna do?
My guess is they actually do this to save resources. Instead if loading in multiple different scenes they just load on big one, check which map is selected, load that one in and everything else that has different LOD gets loaded in at low res. That why the wrench is high quality because it probably only has one LOD asset. I'm sure in multiplayer they dont compute all of the collision meshes for the big map and only compute the ones needed for that map which saves a ton of resources. Collision meshes take a lot more resources than the actual mesh object

Things to note that you just pretty much exposed is. 1) you flew over Hacienda which is coming season 1 reloaded. 2) you found firing range which seems to be deep within warzones new map meaning we probably won’t get it until cod 2025 3) you flew over a section as you started to pan out that looked heavily like a remaster of Yemen from Ops 2. 4) that broken down bus from area 99 was without fail the bus from tranzit. I’ve noticed the same thing on a 5800x3d+6600xt most other maps run considerably and consistent better regardless of settings or vram allocation, hell I even messed with smt and cpu scheduling and it’s still consistently way worse than most other maps
For multi and warzone together it's about less than 200 on playstation 5 and xbox series is about less than 150 and xbox one with mp and warzone it 50gb
Guys come on, they didn’t make any map specifically for multiplayer! They made the warzone map, then used some of the Poi‘s as multiplayer maps. That plus, they used AI generator tools for the warzone maps ( so mp maps too) makes clear why the maps paying so terribly

Snow in deserts is not uncommon as they get very cold at night. If there is enough moisture in the air to form clouds and precipitate, it will snow.
