Oh, bless. I live in NYC. On 9/11, I was a few miles north in the Chelsea neighborhood watching in disbelief on 18th Street and 6th Avenue as the North Tower fell. This track is the first time I've laughed at anything related to that event. Kudos to Chris and Armando.

I kind of love that the humour of this isn't really at the expense of the people who died in the attacks but at Peter O'Hanraha-hanrahan, who is once again shown up by Chris for his incompetence.
"What is a hijacked airliner and does it crash?" I've wet myself laughing. No matter where you travel in the World, nobody does satirical humour better than the Brits. Love it.
This is brilliant, it's quite amazing that he's taken a subject matter where if anyone makes any kind of comedy about it they are slaughtered and everyone jumps on the bandwagon but he's managed to make it so no one can possibly complain or be 'offended' about this.
Leave it to the genius of Chris Morris to create humour about September 11th without being gross or disrespectfull to those who died. Excellent stuff :)
This remains one of the funniest things I have ever seen or heard. Congratulations to Chris and team. I pull this out all the time if I need a ‘hey if you like that, you’d like this’ quid pro status quo
I don't think it's the slightest bit offensive. The joke throughout The Day Today was that Peter was always getting the news wrong, so they thought "what's biggest most world-changing event he could lie about?". It's less of a joke about 9/11 more just again natural peak/end point for a long-running joke.

A small note of pedantry : Morris is telling O'Hanraha-Hanrahan to keep watching a recording of the footage, whereas O'Hanraha-Hanrahan ends up treating it as live. The game's up Peter!
This was done for the DVD release of The Day Today in 2004. Members of the original cast got back together to do some easter eggs, like this one.
