    The crowd's chanting at the beginning "ole ole ole, ole ole ole ola, ole ole ola, cada día te quiero más..." originally comes from fans cheering for their favourite soccer team, and it basically means the crowd absolutely loves the band. Just awesome.

    What I love about this song?
    An Irish pub jig being enjoyed by a South American crowd! What could be cooler than that!?
    By the way, Rosalie, the pipes Uaellian pipes, which is the Irish national instrument. "Uaellian" is Gaelic for "elbow," and as Troy says, "You have to be a bit, just a bit insane, to play them." But they are one of the most beautiful instruments in the world. Every time I hear them, I think of the Emerald Isle, Ireland, herself.
    The song itself is about doing things in life you want to do, so that when you reach old age, you have no regrets -- the "tears of life." Saying "I want my tears back" is basically saying, "I want to live my life with no regrets," and I will say, very few will ever actually live life with no regrets.

    Troys Uillean (pronounced illan) pipes just have a wonderful voice of their own and unlike other pipes work well harmonically with both the voice and other instruments, I am glad you used this version Floor just has so much fun and it was a unique night, before the song starts though when Floor does a little wiggle look behind her and Emppu is doing the Lemmings dance. The energy of this song is infectious, When troy and Emppu play in unison you realise how much the band are in tune with each other, simply wonderful

    I got to see Nightwish last year when they were in Canada. They obviously have fun playing together but this song took it to a whole other level. Clearly this is a song they get genuine joy and happiness from playing, and it spreads to the audience. Listening to a studio version vs a live version is just incomparable.

    An ‘Annette’ song from what I regard as the best Nightwish album, Imaginaerum. But, Tarjasong, Annette song, Floor just smashes them all. And, even by her standards, that was adynamic performance. That welcome from the crowd,how could the whole Group not be absolutely electrified.

  • @roy19491
    @roy19491 Год назад +15

    think about Floor being around 6-5 in those bootheels; dancing and bouncing around the stage like she was.......to hear some more great harmonies, check out "Harvest" from the Human;Nature album......I don't think there's a live performance, but there is a lyric video.......slight correction: in Alice in Wonderland, the rabbit is "The March Hare"; the mad hatter is a reference to hats, in the Victorian era, being cleaned using lead and arsenic, therefore poisoning and causing bizarre mentalities by "hatters"

    They are so versatile, that their genre could be called just "Nightwish". This concert took place 30.9.2018. The "Decades" album/dvd/bluray released in 6.12.2019 (Independece Day of Finland). It was the first live album ever, which topped our charts. Very well analyzed by You, thanks.
    The strange thing you might not know, that Argentina and Finland are the two countries, where tango is most mainstream and very famous genre. We have here even tango -oriented contests and festivals.
    Haha, I'll meet them live next Summer in Kitee, where the Nightwish originally come from. ⛄❄👍

    Hiya Rosalie. You are genuinely the first reactor I have watched who has commented on the three-part harmony! Troy has a lovely voice and can be heard on numerous songs as a backing/incidental vocalist from the Anette Olzon-era onwards. In fact, he takes the lead vocal on one of the tracks on the most recent NW album 'Harvest'. This is one of my favourite live performances due to the sheer spontaneity of the band reacting to the crowd's involvement. Shalom my love x

    Marko is classically trained, but has been singing his whole life, as his father did. He has alot of versatility and range...Best heard in his solo work. His newest project is Pyre of the Black Heart, with 3 singles, Voice Of My Father, Stones and Dead God's Son.

      Well Stones and voice of my father are a few years old not part of the new album. Dead gods son is brand new. It's about his battle with ADHD and depression. He's been a rock star for over 30+ years. With an extensive and impressive body of work. Also no he's not classically trained.

  • @NickBR57
    @NickBR57 Год назад +8

    My favourite concert. Chris O says it all...
    Note the references throughout to childhood songs and films - Mary Costa for example was the voice of Sleeping Beauty in the Disney film...
    Troy is the leading exponent of the Uilleann Pipes (ill-ian, meaning "elbow") since the great Paddy Maloney of the Chieftains died in 2021.
    Tuomas says the South American fans are the most animated.
    Marco said this though:
    "Floor handled it the best. When the fans were wreaking havoc at the hotel lobby, she just sternly said: " Hey, people, it doesn't work like this - please get in line, and everybody will get their photo and autograph." I'll be damned the disorderly fans actually obeyed her. That's a huge accomplishment in South America"
    Since you mention it, Floor's outfit is exclusive, made to measure (like all her costumes due to her height) by Royal Black Couture in Austria who promised never to make another
    They are also one of two makers of costumes for the current tour

  • @chriso6719
    @chriso6719 Год назад +11

    Nice lyric analysis. Yeah, I think you got it. I've seen it as a longing to feel the intensity of emotion the way one did when they were young. That intensity can fade or disappear as one gets older.
    Floor wasn't 100% here either. She had been sick with the flu a show or 2 before this., but still dancing all over the stage. The concert was Sep 2018, the DVD was released 2019. Current versions of this song (see Hellfest or Deichbrand 2022 festivals) have Troy singing most of Marko's vocal lines , and no 3rd harmony.
    You might want to try 'My Walden' from the Wembley 2015 show next. Tuomas considers it to be a continuation of 'I Want My Tears Back'.

    As argentinian I'm proud they've chosen our city to do this special live DVD. And this video is of course very popular because they kept the crazy chants in the intro.
    This is also the DVD that caught my attention the most and made me fan of the band, Floor performance when I watched the concert blew my mind. And she did this when recovering from the flu. Marko's voice was even better but years back he had polyps on his vocal chords. They were surgically removed but he lost part of his range. He's still phenomenal but no he does not have more range or versatility than Floor. How's this for celebrating a Nightwish show after the show Troy walks up introduces himself talk briefly says he'll be right back waving his near empty wine glass. He walks backstage and is back quickly with a full glass for himself and for me. We had talked maybe 2 minutes when he did that. I had photographed the concert and was waiting for the crowd to thin out. They all have so much fun together and genuinely appreciate the fans. Just a special group of amazing artists. I really appreciate your reactions and interpretations of things.

    I've never dug deep into the meaning of this song, by my interpretation has always (from when I first heard the title) was "I shed a lot of tears on and looking back, that was not nearly as important as I thought, so I'm much happier now and want those wasted tears back. but as I said, that's just what I got off the surface.

    Hey, Rosalie....great reaction! Note that Troy is actually a full-time member of Nightwish, now...as you explore more beyond the Wacken 2013 show, you'll see/hear a lot more of him and all the myriad instruments he plays (he sings, too).

    Always great to see you react to Nightwish 😃 Since you are appreciating Marco's vocals, I must tell you to do a reaction video for The song Nightwish did for the film Lieksa. It's called 'While your lips are still red' and In my opinion it's Marco's best vocal performance. Apologies if you've already done it and I missed it but if not PLEASE do it! ☺☺☺

    I believe this was the second song of the concert. They opened with Elvenjig & Elvenpath, which already touch the subject as well as carries over the instrumental style and set mood in the audience. Elvenjig is an instrumental prelude that was composed for this tour specificly to include the pipes and carry over to the sung part.
    The melodies are absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately that song seems to be overlooked by most reactors.
    Without really knowing more of the songs and histories behind them, only having heard, and fallen in love! with the melody and mood I think they could be reacted all as one song!

      Elvenjig/Elvenpath was 11th song of this concert 🙂

      I wasn't sure. But wasn't it right before this one, though?
      I just remember the same chanting and Floor's mention about the whole song going with their taking the tears back - dancing - at the end of a video with elvenpath. :)
      Either way, I like both for the melody and the happy, energized mood they set, one that really makes you want to jump and dance and let loose, the pipes have a lot to do with the whole vibe, too.

    This one of favorite Nightwish songs and this whole concert is excellent.
    Speaking of Marko. He has a new Solo song out.
    It's about his Depression and ADHD. He looks very happy now by the way

    High Hopes, a Pink Floyd tribute (not cover) would be a fantastic choice for the next reaction. Marko and Emppu completely stole the show with that one.

    You're pretty close to my interpretation, the focus on disconnect from feelings. I remember many years ago my wife asking me what I was feeling, and realising I didn't know, which was a bit of a shock. I've since got my tears back, happily. I dance more, I sing more, I cry more, and it's a better state to be in.
    There are two other Nightwish songs closely related to this one, both only with Anette: "Turn Loose the Mermaids" comes later on the album and acts as a resolution to this one, while "Meadows of Heaven" (mentioned here) is possibly Tuomas' most nostalgia-based song in a canon filled with them! That's nostalgia as in the pain of memory, of longing for a lost home. Both are beautiful, and I would love for you to react to either or both of them. Some fanmade lyric videos:
