Join Alice and Tommy T as they visit Nagara Falls in New York in 4K with their local friend John! We spend the day on the American side of the Niagara Falls and check out all three falls, Horseshoe, American, and Bridal Veil Falls at the Niagara Falls State Park! We had an amazing day and lots of fun! You will love this video!
    Some Niagara Falls Facts!!
    1) The water that flows over Niagara Falls comes from four of the five Great Lakes: Erie, Huron, Michigan and Superior. From the Falls, the water travels down the Niagara River to Lake Ontario, then to the St. Lawrence River and finally to the Atlantic Ocean.
    2) Originally, 5.5 billion gallons per hour of water flowed over Niagara Falls. Now, however, half of this water is diverted for power by the United States and Canada.
    3) The average depth of the water below Niagara Falls is 170 feet, which is as deep as the Niagara Gorge banks are high.
    4) Niagara Falls is the collective name for three waterfalls - the Horseshoe Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls and the American Falls - that overlap the international borders of Canada and the United States.
    5) Fish actually travel over the Falls and about 90% of them survive. Experts believe that the white foam from the rushing waters cushions their fall.
    6) Back in the 1800s, Niagara Falls was nearly frozen solid and only a small trickle of water traveled over the cliffs.
    7) About 600,000 gallons of water travel down Niagara Falls every second.
    8) About 20% of the drinking water in the United States goes over Niagara Falls.
    9) The formation of Niagara Falls is the result of glaciers.
    10) Parts of the movies “Superman” and “Niagara,” starring Marilyn Monroe, were filmed at Niagara Falls.
You will even get to see an amazing voyage on the brand new Maid of the Mist Electric Boats!

    • Maid of the Mist in 4K
The Maid of the Mist is a sightseeing boat tour of Niagara Falls, starting and ending on the American side, crossing briefly into Canada during a portion of the trip. The vessels are named James V. Glynn in honor of Maid of the Mist Chairman and CEO James V. Glynn, who in 2020 celebrated 70 years with the company, and Nikola Tesla, who invented alternating current (AC) motor, the standard form of electricity that is used in American homes to this day. Tesla’s invention prompted George Westinghouse to invite him to join his team that won the bid to build the power plant at Niagara Falls.
In 1846, entrepreneurs decided a bigger craft could profit by transporting people, luggage, mail and cargo. So, the first Maid of the Mist steamboat, large enough to carry a stagecoach and horses, was christened. In 1848, construction of a suspension bridge curtailed business and the Maid of the Mist was re-branded as a sightseeing adventure that still operates to this day.

Being a life long resident of Western NY, I'm a little prejudiced and must say that the Canadian side is much nicer. Both sides of the border have their pros and cons and both are way over commercialized but the Canadian side is much cleaner and less crime.

Thanks for watching. Honestly after going to the falls over the past 30 years, this is the best I have seen the USA side. I think with the Canadian side closed down and the new electric Maid of the mist boats, lots more people on USA side and seemed almost perfect. All the shops were open and busy. I remember the old days and you were correct. But we had a a whole Buffalo team with us and everyone felt the same way!! That is also why we did the video! Great time to visit the USA side. Also, nothing is like the bridal falls for the effect of the height and dimension of the falls (and it is the most overlooked).
