    Your video convinced me to buy this tent (in the 2 P version) for miy trip to the Lofoten islands of Norway. I just returned today and wanted to say thank you! This tent kept me dry, safe and cosy through some storms and heavy rain. Couldn't be happier to have bought this tent! Hope it continues to serve you well. Greetings from Germany! :)

      It does well, just the rough edge pegs act like saws so they need filed or swapped out for the future. Thanks for watching. A

    Hey Andrew, great to see you still having the Salewa Tent. It seems very quick to bring up and sturdy in the winds (storm). Will by one for myself as well soon...Cheers

    Hello Andrew, I'll give here a try first before hitting you up on the hiking forums if you don't see this (it's a very old video) ! I've just bought this tent (Pro II) for a month in Iceland and I'm wondering if you've ever tried adding additional guy lines and if so where did you tie them to. I was thinking doubling up on the existing line loops (4) and also to the front of the tent ( around the front pole and the L and R clips) and rear (from the cross over to help lock them into place). Would this weaken the existing guys or strengthen the structure ? Thanks for your thoughts ! Kevin

    • @AndrewParkOutdoors
      @AndrewParkOutdoors  Год назад

      Hi Kevin , I never tried it but you can never have too many guy points as far as I'm concerned 😂

    Great images. I miss Scotland. I must come back and camp/hike. I really like that tent but I doubt I can get it here. 8:10 "A bit blowin" cracked me up. I make some videos of my camping here so if you're so inclined you can see the lands around me.

    Great video Andrew. Is that the car park at Balmaha? If it is, we stopped there on our way to our last camp at Sallochy last month. If I had known the camping ban ended when you got past the forestry I would just have camped up there instead. Looked a cracking spot. The wind looked quite bad, so I'm not surprised they guy line broke, but hey these things can happen to any tent. Atb Glenn.

      South-West-Wilderness hi Glenn, yes that's the car park, handy as it's a short walk though I like Sallochy for the lochside spots. Atb Andy

    Hi Andrew....just found your channel, great video....whats this Litetrek 1 like in really high winds on a regular basis ? its looking good here...i have got the Salewa Sierra leone 2 in my arsenal of tents which is bombproof i also have a soulo but i am looking for a solid light one man tent to do long distances with. Thanks for the video

    • @AndrewParkOutdoors
      @AndrewParkOutdoors  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Olan, To be honest I sold it so it never really got a hammering in the time I had it, but it's a stable design when tail into wind. A

    Hi Andrew, thanks for your videos! After a year, are you satisfied by the Litetrek? Any wear issue in addition to guyline failure? What would be your expectations for an intensive use, like 6 weeks in Iceland late July-early August? I’m actually interested in Sierra Leone model, because I’ll use the tent both in basecamp and in trekking, but as far as I know both models are made of same materials.

    • @AndrewParkOutdoors
      @AndrewParkOutdoors  6 лет назад +1

      +Alberto Falaschi hi Alberto, unfortunately I sold it so not sure about long term intensive use. Personally I'd feel more comfortable with the sil nylon 'pro' version for extended use if you can get one ( it's usually got a higher tear strength and Icelandic winds will test it in my experience ) ! Atb Andy

    Hello Andrew. Your videos are really good.
    I'm with a doubt about this tent, it weights 1.9kilo?
    I'm doubt between this tent and the Wild country sololite(discontinued, but I found one in a store) for Patagonia trekkings.
    Which one you would chose?
    Regards
    Diego

    • @AndrewParkOutdoors
      @AndrewParkOutdoors  6 лет назад

      +Diego Thomas da Silva Hi Diego, thanks for the comment. Mm tough one, never had the Sololite but it used to be well regarded by backpackers so can't comment from hands on experience. They look similar weight and both compact internally. The small door and minimal vestibule is my only real criticism of the Salewa, but the Sololite is so similar it's a tough call , if wind stability is the main issue I'd say the Salewa is stronger but it's a close call ?!

    • @diegothomasdasilva3740
      @diegothomasdasilva3740 6 лет назад

      Thank you very much, Andrew. What is the weight of Salewa. I just have seen that the minimal weight is 1.8kg without the poles and pegs! Is it right?

    • @AndrewParkOutdoors
      @AndrewParkOutdoors  6 лет назад

      +Diego Thomas da Silva I think they got that wrong, mine was 1.9 Inc all pegs poles and bags, you could probably get it down to about 1.7 dumping bags and improving pegs. ATB Andrew

      It was told to me that Salewa has discontinued this tent, so I'll need to fin another option. I'm not finding it anywhere. =/

    just in case of thunder and lightning would the aluminium space blanket underlay not be dangerous?

    • @AndrewParkOutdoors
      @AndrewParkOutdoors  7 лет назад +1

      geesmiek geldof jeez, never thought of that but I've seen videos of footballers being knocked out across the pitch even when the corner flag gets hit, I'm a dead man regardless ;-)

    • @DonP_is_lostagain
      @DonP_is_lostagain 7 лет назад +2

      not a chance. Mylar space blankets look shiny, and are reflective of both heat and light, but they're made of Mylar which is a plastic material and not electricity conductive. I know people think they're made with an aluminized coating, but they're really just all plastic. He's got a better chance of lightening striking the aluminum poles on the outside of the tent. Cheers! DonP
