Yep, Sol is a really good character in this show. He is good and likeable.
Fun fact: Sol played by lee jung jae a veteran actor from South Korea, has directed his own movie called "Hunt" it's a spy action movie you guys should check it out, And I know from the moment acolyte is announce that he will be the best actor in it.
"Hunt" is a truly outstanding film. I didn't have high expectations for Lee Jung-jae as a director, but I was really surprised after watching the movie.

Sol reminds me a little bit of Qui-Gon. Definitely one of the only bright spots.
Master Squid Game
Sol is the best thing about this show, and the actors protrayal is fantastic. Especially considering that he learnt English especially for this part.
I just want to know who is his english tutor. Cause he is able to say english words sounded clearly. His english tutor did a good job in with only nick of time.
He knew English long before this role.
Sol deserves his own series-hes up there with Luke, Starkiller and Anakin as my favourite Jedi of all time
Things I like about Acolyte: Sol, the music, the Kung Fu type fights(even though they make 0 logical sense in Star Wars up against a Jedi Master, I'm just a fan of Kung Fu movies), the sith's helmet(cheesy but I still like it lol)
Things I dislike about Acolyte: most of the acting, THE MESSAGE/agenda, Harvey's personal assistant being in charge of "the gayest star wars", etc etc
The actor for Sol also has more of a connection to the franchise overall; actually did his research or simply was just a big fan beforehand. He said in an interview that his favorite character was Qui-gon Jin, which I think really checks out.

I am mainly watching this series to see how Master Sol develops. Huge fan of Squid Games and The Matrix so ofc I am watching this. Just disappointed Trinity died early.
I haven’t seen it yet, probably won’t ever but Sol looks cool and he’s great actor. Turns out he’s actually a big Star Wars fan, and he just seems like a wholesome guy who actually cares about Star Wars and his character. Unlike almost 90% of the cast who have no idea what they’re talking about “Anakin blew up the Death Star” and “nerds hate gay people” like wtf is this!!!
Master Sol may not be solid in writing, but his acting is completely on part and the best part of the show

The show ain't no where near as bad as people are acting. Literally 2 episodes in. And they was decent. Just watch when they release episode 3 or 4 all these people that are bitching and complainin are gonna watch em anyways. People claim that they're massive Star wars fans but if it ain't got original trilogy fan service they dismiss it. I'm convinced that if even if we had gotten a TV show about the Old Republic which is something everybody says they want that the majority of people would still be bitching about it for whatever reason

Can character's names be changed after being casted? I find it coincidental the Korean guy's character is named Sol, similar to "Seoul." Renaming a person's character after their country's major city sounds like the kind of vacuous crap the writers of the show would come up with. Dunno, maybe the name just felt familiar to him so he auditioned for it.
Sol means sun I believe
Only in English tho... as most of us (and Koreans) say Seh-Ul.

@@ayden_is_exotic In the phantom Menace Maul says: “At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi”, meaning they’ve been hiding this whole time. You don’t need Sith to have a dark sider. In legends Obi wan and Qui Gon had to deal with a few dark Jedi but they weren’t Sith.
Despite Acolyte being garbage, Sol still has potential.

He is the 'sole' Jedi survivor of the lightsaber battle on Khofar.
Could you imagine if Episodes 1-6 were released nowadays. All the "fans" would rip them to shreds. Sometimes you just got to learn how to enjoy things even if they aren't perfect or exactly how you would do it. And if you don't, then walk away.

You’re still going to watch The Acolyte for the next 6 Tuesdays, Will Jordan and Niatoos Dadbeh. Will Jordan finished all of She-Hulk, didn’t he? And he saw all of Secret Invasion. And then watched Barbie on opening weekend like Ben Shapiro did. 🤣
Let’s say movie theaters completely die. Then movie studios stops making any more movies or rarely makes them. What will TCD mock then? The thing you mock is the thing you still need to create your content. What if Hollywood decided to make only RUclips videos? You’re going to mock those videos then since movie and TV releases became scarce?
Don’t worry, TCD. Good or bad, you’re still going to finish watching The Acolyte like you did for The Rings of Power S1. Then you will do the same for The Rings of Power S2 with Mary Sue Karen Galadriel. You will mock TRoP S2 early by late August once released but you will watch the entire season of that show. You need material for your comedy roast on anything that has “The Message”.

I’m not trying to defend Disney here. I’m no Disney shill. I never said The Acolyte is any good. I just think both sides needs to CALM THE F**K DOWN. Two episodes and it’s already being judged? I didn’t like Andor’s first two episodes either and look how that turned out.
If I recall, Andor released the first three episodes right away. This was on September 21, 2022. But since I used torrents, I only downloaded the first two. My mistake. Had I seen Ep 3, I would’ve never waited 8-9 months from finishing it. But it’s my own mistake for judging Andor so harshly after only two episodes.
It wouldn’t have mattered if The Acolyte turned out amazing. The final 6 episodes will probably never change Will’s opinion but we know he’ll watch all of them. It’s insta-WOKE, so it will always be ridiculed. Will Jordan said he enjoyed Furiosa but it still flopped at the box office. Good or bad, nobody is really watching this nerd culture stuff these RUclipsrs are talking about.
I thought Barbie was lame and WOKE and that still made over $1.5B. I think Furiosa is good but it still flopped. Andor and Loki were good but they drew awful viewership. It really doesn’t matter if it’s good, bad, or WOKE. BTW, I’m a big fan of The Critical Drinker. Tyrone Magnus got me into TCD. But it’s very easy to predict what TCD will say. Almost redundant. These next 6 episodes will probably never change Will’s negative opinion on The Acolyte. Negativity is what draws his views. Not praises. And he will keep that same negative energy as it’s comedy material for his next video.
I did rewatch some of The Acolyte yesterday and I do agree with a SW channel saying it doesn’t look as epic as it should be. You can see it in the trailers. Like it’s really made for TV. Yes, there are parts to it that are beautiful. Real locations. But rewatch the trailer and it looks like it has the same budget of what a more recent Star Trek series would have.
Budget
The Mandalorian per season (8 eps): $120M
The Book of Boba Fett (7 eps): $105M
Obi-Wan Kenobi (6 eps): $90M
Andor (12 eps): $250M
Ahsoka (8 eps): $100M
The Acolyte (8 eps): $180M
The Skeleton Crew reportedly has a budget of $136M. In comparison, House of the Dragon S1 was around $200M, $20M per episode. Not sure how much S2 will cost but if it’s still $20M per episode, it would put it at $160M since we’re getting only 8 episodes for Season 2. While The Rings of Power S1 had a budget of $462M.
Andor might be the most expensive thanks to having the most episodes for one season, but it does look the part. They used real locations and used the least amount of The Volume. Episode 4 when we see Mon Mothma going to meet Luthen in Coruscant looked amazing. I think Andor gave us the best view around Coruscant since Attack of the Clones.
I feel after rewatching The Acolyte, that it doesn’t look quite epic in scale. Maybe because we’ve been spoiled by Andor using real locations and not so reliant using Volume. Maybe we’ve been spoiled from the House of the Dragon S2 trailers where we see dragons flying over these beautiful locales. I think The Acolyte looks catered more for TV than something a big budget SW movie would bring us visually.
I actually think The Acolyte has potential to still be awesome no matter how much hate and mockery it’s currently receiving from all these RUclipsrs and for being the most *WOKE* and *gayest* SW project yet. I’m just not sure Leslye Headland can fully deliver on that potential since she’s no Tony Gilroy or Bryce Dallas Howard.
Is Leslye more like Deborah Chow? I feel Ep 1 and 2 could’ve been far more engaging with a sense of urgency and raised stakes than what was shown. But they didn’t come off that way. They both ended abruptly with no “hook” to keep us engaged for that next episode.
The next episode better be good because The Boys’ S4E1 comes out 2 days later. Then House of the Dragon S2 comes out 3 days after The Boys. These are already established shows with established and huge fanbases. Many of us are already quite invested with their characters while The Acolyte is completely new to many of us. Competition will only get tougher before The Acolyte’s Ep 4 comes out.
Andor didn’t get going until Ep 3, so The Acolyte must do the same. It can’t afford another 7/10 “meh” episode on Tuesday. Back in 2022, Top Gun: Maverick, Stranger Things S4, and Obi-Wan Kenobi all came out on May 27. Then The Boys S3 came out a week later. Guess which one became the odd man out? Kenobi. It was being trashed while everyone was praising Top Gun 2, Stranger Things S4, and The Boys S3.
The Acolyte does not want to be like that Obi-Wan series that got swept under the rug and was completely forgotten. It needs to find a way to stand out and be far more engaging as it became an underdog from the get go. It better start getting very interesting by Episode 3 or viewers’ patience will run out and they will start to tune out to watch the other shows. Episode 3 is almost make or break for it.
I see the potential in The Acolyte. Finally, a story that’s not part of the Anakin Skywalker timeline set in the High Republic. That’s different. Then it involves a Sith or Siths in hiding that Jedis assumed went extinct. That’s another story angle live action Star Wars never fully explored. The potential for The Acolyte to be pretty awesome is there but could Leslye Headland’s writing take it there? I have my doubts.
Got a strange feeling Sol could be the Sith. Just a vibe I had and hope to God im wrong.

Aside from getting recorded evidence of qimirs involvement in providing the poison for Mae to kill torbin, and sol hearing that but letting qimir off with a warning. he should have arrested him but the writers didn’t think logically. They just had fatawan be the lookout in the open with binoculars

I will never watch it nor will I ever watch squid game. I don't care about this dude at all. Kylo Ren was doomed from the beginning. He never had a chance at being a good character.

Are we watching the same performance unfold onscreen? Sure he is likable and reminiscent of Qui-Gon, but he is not a great actor in this as he appears wooden and flat with no emotion.

I really really really hope it is Plagueis. I have been wanting Plagueis to be on screen for like ever. Though if it is Plagueis, I fear Sol will figure it out and die before he can reveal the Sith still exist.
