Famous argentine cumbia singer Gilda organized a concert in 1995 inside the "Unidad Penal N° 9" located in La Plata, Buenos Aires. It's quite famous because she started dancing with all of the inmates during the show.
I actually had an opportunity to be at a concert in a prison in Poland - as a camera operator. It's a weird experience... can't wait to watch this video! EDIT: after watching - interesting as always ;) amazing stories and I can totally relate to the experiences mentioned by artists who performed for such an audience (although, I was not really performing).
@@TheIndogamer I'd have to ask friends, they were the band ;) it's a good question though. I think there may have been some issues with privacy of the inmates being recorder. I'll ask my friends and maybe post a link.
@@TheIndogamer I got it, it was finally published as a short documentary in polish TV station. I cannot share the link as YT doesn't allow for it for some reason. So I don't really know how to share it.

He’s pretty calm in the interview he did with Ronald Reagan Jr. The interviews give an image of him as more manic and impulsive than he actually was. He’s certainly unhinged but a lot of that was just for attention. It would be interesting to hear different strange locations for gigs. For example, one of the first gigs of cult prog/punk/pop/&c. outfit Cardiacs was in a school, something iirc several members were bemused how that even happened

1:42 Whats funny/ironic here is that despite the movie being about Spanish nationalism. They're actually speaking Italian as it was probably made there but idk for sure. I know that they are in fact speaking Italian since my father is Italian and thus I can understand a lot of it
Apparently it was made by an Italian filmmaker and both Italian and Spanish dubs were produced. I had copies of both but the Italian was much higher quality so I went with it 😂

I got to see Joey Medina ( a comedian) on the Tucson complex in AZ on the whetstone yard. He told us he would buy us a beer if we ever ran in to him on the street.
Before starting this channel I used to score a independent movies/documentaries for beer money. That track was made for a project that never ended up getting released, and now it’s one of my go-to’s for bandsplaining 😝. Probably not the answer you’re hoping for, since it isn’t even a full song- basically just the snippet you hear in these videos. But I’m flattered you asked.
The ETA once tried to rob the biggest bank in Madrid. But as they were fleeing the building, a shutter came down in front of them. Then another came down behind them, trapping them. The moral of this story is, obviously, ‘never put all your basques in one exit’
I probably would have thought the Queens of the Stone Age story was fake too. Like, on top of the stuff you already mentioned, why would you book a druggy stoner band to play at a rehab center? The stuff must have been completely clueless of who they were, lol.
Glad to see you talking about the Basque Radical Rock scene
👍 would love it if he could do a follow-up! Hint, hint!
Listening to Sarri Sarri in 2021 after Sarri finally came home is even better :) Thanks for the video !
Thanks again for helping out so much in that story! I think I'd still be sitting here trying to figure out how to pronounce Euskadi Ta Askatasuna 😂

Excited to see crime got mentioned and a backstory. I heard from a once San Fransisco local in the 80s how crazy crime was off stage.
Damn, was not expecting Jards Macalé in this video. Great stuff!

The fact that a punk band called crime would have such a reductive view of prisoners is so funny (sad, but funny)

Hey bandsplaining. You have to check out the Khmer rock scene of the 60s and 70s. Its certainly as interesting as the ZamRock scene in my opinion
