This song was written by Billy Howerdel with Chester Bennington in mind as the singer. For 'reasons' it didn't get recorded and APC recorded it instead.
@@bluepvp900 no, that's false. The APC song that was supposed to be on a Linkin Park album is called 'Eat The Elephant', and it was written for One More Light (so, years after this performance)
Well, the song "Eat the Elephant" was co-written with Chester before his passing. It was originally going to be a Linkin Park song on "One More Light" but didn´t make the cut, so it was re-worked for the APC album.
ruclips.net/video/1RqZSENSNRs/видео.htmlsi=WAB0sKaFSBbW4Uez A lot of crown noise, but here's Chester when he was on his own, touring with ashes divide, which is. the guitar player for a perfect circle in the guitar tech for Adam Jones and Tool.

Oh my, as someone who used to listen to LP in my early teens and then to Apc/tool etc later in life, this really struck me. Can’t believe I haven’t seen this before. Thank you uploader! RIP Chester.
It's similar to enjoying the time with your current girlfriend, then awkwardly bumping into the previous one. But not only do they get along, they also wanna crank their decibels in your bedroom...Then invite you onstage
Maynard's sense of ebbs and flows in music is second to none in the history of Rock music. That first verse of The Outsider is a fascinating example of it.
This breaks my heart Precious, you knew the song, knew the words, felt the pain, and chose the same, It's taking me all this time to get through the pain and say I miss you.
I'm sorry....My favorite vocalist ever from my favorite band ever singing my favorite song from my favorite A Perfect Circle album in a cover that is not only amazing, but is insanely unique? I just came all over my keyboard. What the fuck can Chester NOT sing?
This video gives me so many mixed emotions. #1 I had no idea one of my fav vocalist ever covered a song written by another fav vocalist ever of mine. #2 The dude is performing a song about suicide. #3 Their voices sound so similar. I swear to god Maynard sounds just like Chester Fear Innoculum... in the lines 'Immunity, long overdue, contagion, I exhale you". #4 Chester sounds like more powerful version of Maynard in this♥️♥️♥️ #5 I wish he was alive🥺😭🥺😭
For everyone bitching and complaining about how "shitty" chester did. Stop and know he did it in his own way. Hes not supposed to be exactly like maynard so calm down. He did an excellent job of covering this.
Feb 2024 and I'm just now seeing it so you beat me 😅 For whatever reason I never listened to much LP. I remember seeing them play OzFest after their first record and I just thought they would be a "one hit wonder". Then I dated a girl who was really into them but we were both in recovery and she started using again so I stopped seeing her. Gonna have to do a deep dive into their music soon. Not really sure where to start.
Chester sounded great! The thing is, he was little off in some parts because it seems like he’s not familiar enough with the song which is totally fine, that’s why he kept looking back at the keyboard/backing vocalist for help and reference, he still did good!
i don't think anyone would argue that chester is a better vocalist than maynard, but he deserves the praise he gets....LP is one of my favorite bands, just behind Tool/APC and a couple others, and i think he did a great job with the song
This is fucking AWESOME one of my favourite singers of all time covering a song by another one of my favourites maynard james keenan R.I.P. chester you are missed!!
Didn't know this happened. Always thought it would be cool to hear Chester cover something done by Maynard. They have very similar singing styles. He did pretty good here.. too bad his timing was off.
Amo a MJK pero la performance de Chester es increible. A la altura de lo que fue, uno de los mejrores vocalistas e interpretes de la musica contemporanea. Te fuiste pero tu legado es invaluable. Siempre te vamos a extrañar.
Um.. no. Not Maynard's. Billy Howerdel is the songwriter for APC. Ashes Divide is Billy's Band. I love Maynard more than most, but credit given where credit is due. Billy was probably honored to mix it up with Chester!
Usually Maynard does lyrics and Billy does music, but for Thirteenth Step Maynard took on a lot of the music songwriting as well. That said, it's still very much Billy's Baby
@XIIIBW many singers forget lyrics at times, so its not as bad as you make it out to be. stuff happens. watch the unedited version of alice in chains unplugged. poor layne staley mixed up the lyrics to sludge factory. no one dissed that performance.
Thank you. I'm usually critical of Chester being pitchy live, and thought it was him, but you're right about that (which I typed as he says "they were right about you", weird), and that scream towards the end blew Maynard's outta the mer.
ya know, most of the people leaving comments saying how chester sucks, I would bet all the money I have that he does a better job than you "critics". I mean, it ain't exactly the easiest song to sing.
oh, come on people, getting jealous and bitching because Chester did great job covering your beloved Maynard's song is ridiculous. There ARE other brilliant singers in the world, stop thinking Maynard is the only one. Yeah, I checked the original live right after this one and I liked it. But not much more.
I can't believe to see Chester sing an A Perfect Circle's song.

It would have been great to see Maynard and Chester on the same stage. R.I.P... We still feel your existence.

what irony listen chester singing this song :(
Most people struggling internally are quite self aware of their mental circumstances. I'm sure the irony wasn't lost on Chester at the time
😭
Damn..
Had the same thought, he didn't just play this for fun, in hindsight, there were so many cries for help in his performances and lyrics, tragic :(
@@burieddeepbetween wouldn’t have been irony, but understanding that wasn’t lost on him.
Crazy to hear Chester sing a song bout suicide. RIP man.
If Maynard and Chester only have made a song together it would have been the best song in the world.
Well, I have Chester singing the outsider A lot of crowd noise. but still it's great. ruclips.net/video/1RqZSENSNRs/видео.htmlsi=WAB0sKaFSBbW4Uez
R.I.P Chester..
he sang that probably from the heart
like so many other songs.
i cant believe he is singing this song about how bad it is to commit suicide and a song that is mocking that act, yet he still did it...
this or Gravity, I wished he would have surrendered to the gravity and the unknown
@@Cymanytb He didn't want to be suicidal
Chris kept him from doing it much earlier. Then when Chris did it ,,, you know the rest
@@Cymanytb The song isn't mocking the act. It's more to show that the singer or the narrator is the ass hole.

Really ı never heard
Interesting. Not my favorite but it does fit with older lp stuff
Any evidence of this? Not saying it is not true but I've never heard anything about it and can't find any reference ever besides this comment.
