- The first track on Elton John's album "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" (1973) is actually two separately composed tracks which was combined to make one big track called "Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding". The song consist of the instrumental "Funeral For A Friend" followed by "Love Lies Bleeding". The song is very versatile and contains many different styles of playing which makes it a challenge to play. This is also what makes the track very fun to play!
The song is heavily played live, and has been used as a concert opener through out Elton John's touring career. Usually you would find the track in the beginning of the live set or in the middle of the live set!

Finally! I found a cover that’s not only beautifully played, but played perfectly in-time. This is a rare gem of a pianist, and I’m in awe of the talent here. Just wow.
HE’S BACK AND WITH THE ELTON PIANO SOUND!!!

Jesus.. how did Elton create this and how did you replicate it..wow
Glad to have you back! Your covers are really something special and I'm so happy to see more stuff from you, welcome back!

Brilliant!
You have the beginning left thumb funeral procession step beats in this piece! So many people miss that. Wow! And you have Love Lies Bleeding! No one does that! -- This is so good. You did such a good job. Just amazing. Beautifully done. So nice. Thank you!
I honestly don’t understand how you managed perfectly replicate Elton’s style…
You are incredible!
The legend has returned! And on my birthday too! Thank you for this!
Amazing job on this one. It’s like a marathon. A tough one to do for sure especially matching his live playing so well. Thank you.
This piece of song is a masterpiece 👌
Esta pieza de canción es una obra maestra 👌
You still remain to me just completely incredible in the way you play and the way you perform! Thank you!
That was great! I feel tired after watching this keyboard workout.
Return of The King. Your videos are the best !
Beautifully played, would have liked to hear the synth opening as well.
Welcome back! Still listening to your stuff all the time.
This is so awesome man. Now I have to relearn it with the live style you’ve covered so well. Thanks for the camera angle to help me out, much appreciated.

He's working on it!
My favorite cover of this yet. Plus most people just stop after FFAF. This was amazing. ThaNKS SO MUCH.
can you bennie and the jets in the mood on your new rd 2000, btw great job on accomplishing his iconic piano sound
i’m a bit late to listen to this piece, but i transcribed it and learned it. this is one of my favorite pieces i’ve played. i don’t usually comment on any youtube videos, especially a year after they were posted, but i have to say how awesome this song is and how awesome you are!
I have been waiting for this one. One of my favorite songs by Elton. Thanks so much for this.

Amazing!!!!!!
Wow!!! Brilliant!!! 🤩❤️
Welcome Back!! I LOVE this cover!!!!! Keep it up!
this is just PERFECT, i'm mpressed by this performances in all your videos, congratulations!!!! standing ovation!!
Bravo! Bravo! 💗👏👏
LEFT HAND: This song is complicated, and one of his greatest. The original, Elton Would pound the cord , not Rock it back and forth ; The octave, yet would resort to doing just that Teeter Todder the Left hand. Its tough, bcause its lik th old Rub the Stomach , whitle tp the top of head all at once. You did a STELLAR JOB. WE LOVE IT.
Fantastic! Inspiring!
Spot on to live versions I’ve heard. Fantastic
Keep them coming! I’ve been checking in on your account daily for new content. So glad to see you’re back at it!

Looks like a nice upgrade from the last piano!
A masterpiece❤
I missed you, glad you're back! ❇️
Nice surprise! Thank you.
Beautiful! I could only hope and dream of playing that good! Wish I had stuck with my piano lessons in middle school!
Sensational 🙏🎹x
Wow! Awesome ❤️ So impressive!!! You are genius - the second Elton John for sure 😍
You amazingly pulled it off and beautiful brother 👍👍👍🙏
Legend is back!
Elton John Gen 2 is alive and well - Amazing Cover and beyond any other - thank you so much to the dedication of detail you provide all of us souls on youtube who love EJ's music, talent and persona...!
Ive been waiting so long ! lol
Love it
Are u kidding me? Amazing! Best rock concerto ever written and you nailed it better than anyone. Jealous and so stoked at same time.
Maaaaaaaaaan, It's perfect 😍🎹🔥
Bravo 👏👏👏
Dude you flat tore it up. I am a drummer and I used to play along with the live version of this off of Elton's live album Here And There. This has always been one of my favorite Elton songs. I would say my favorite album of his is Captain Fantastic And the Brown Dirt Cowboy. here And There would be second. I also play keys and I just recently got the Roland Fantom 88 key. I love it. I wish I could play this song on the keyboard. My hat's off to you sir. Well done.
Very nice
That puts Classical piano music to shame!!! Stellar Job.
Congrats for the amazing work👏Maybe "Tonight" someday ? 😉
Te pasaste genio 🙏
For anyone wondering how to recreate the sound, he used the "modern" piano setting. The default sound is a roland r1000, which came out in the 80's. On a Nord, you can get very specific and blend the sound of the rd1000 and the yamaha s4 (which he might be doing here, too) to get the genuine Elton sound. The RD2000 is arguably the greatest stage piano on the market right now. It's soundbank is one of the most expansive I've ever seen.
What a talent!! No music 😲 I am 🤢 with envy!
Look at them fingers fly!!
Wow!!!
AHHHH YOU’RE BACK!!! Amazing as always!! Do you think you’ll ever do any tutorials?
please make a tutorial
Beautiful as usual. Thanks. I just picked up a Roland RD-1000 yesterday so need to get practicing some Elton songs! Do i hear a touch of chorus in your setup here?
Hey I’m new here. I recently subscribe. You play excellent. Can you do tiny dancer next. Keep up the good work man. 😁
Hi mate! Amazing piano skills and I love ur videos , just wanted to ask what was the keyboard model you used in your previous videos ? Keep up the good work :)
Thanks, Roland FP-4
OMGGGG. Epic. Nice RD2000
Can you tell me how you started playing music by ear??
HE HAS RETURNED
YOOOO I WAS LOOSING HOPE WOULD NEVER COME BACK YEAHHHHH
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!
Wow. Man do I suck at piano. This proves it.
Glad your back, in the last few months I’ve been watching your videos trying to learn and replicate the Elton John style and I want to thank your because without your videos this would not have been possible
PD: I’D love to see your playing Sad Songs ( love the London 1993 version ), Tonight and I Think I’m Gonna Kill Myself ( recording the top )
:)
Also by the way…
love your new piano 😍
He's done I think I'm going to kill myself and i got it transcribed. Excellent version.
@@ronkikot4141 Greetings. Any chance you could share that transcription with me…please? I’m a 60 year old Elton amateur piano play and would be most appreciative if you could send me a PDF. If by any luck, you would say yes, I would be eternally greatfull & then I can send you my email. Aww heck! Here’s my email anyway: msal2436@gmail.com
@@michaelsalcido3736 Sure. I can't remember though how to get it to you. I tried to copy and paste here but didn't work. Any ideas? I'm green at this stuff.
@@ronkikot4141 you succeed to do the exact transcription of all limes cover plays?
This is insane! Did you learn to play by ear or was it a talent you could always do?
playing by ear mainly refers to the ability to hear and transcribe a song efficiently from audio only. its not really to do with technique which is what you seem to be asking about
Hey Lime can you play a deep cut cover as in 'Spiteful child' from jump up?
Amazing!!! Btw, how do you recreate that Elton's piano sound? I've trying to recreate it but I couldn't, thanks!
I’ve heard your covers so many times that I hear I’m still standing, philladelphia freedom and rotten peaches in this video if that makes any sense
Could you tell me what transcription you started with(if any)? Thank you. Bought this album back in ‘73. Still my favorite.
What speakers do you use? Sounds great.
The best pianist on RUclips. Glad you’re back !
How long do you work on a song before your ready to present it? Have you been working on this one for a while?
This one took a while, but usually not too long. This one has so many elements, that I took a while to get most of it right!
What piano sound is this called on the rd2000?
What sounds did you overlay for this piano sound?
Serious question: do you have any music sheet available so I can buy it and cover it with my envy tears?
How do you make this sound?, it sounds incredible
its a default on the roland rd2000
Stock piano sound? Any pdf of this version?
super! j'adore! la qualité du clavier n'a pas l'air terrible a voir le rebond des touches.
do you have the piano sheet from that song?
Hi - great playing. I’m still using the old EJ setup of a MKS20 and Motif (Power grand) layered. But, like me, they’re getting old and will eventually fail. How’s that RD2000 in comparison to your FP4? It’s a heavy beast I’m told - will you (eventually!) use it for gigs? My main question is this: what are your settings on it (I know it has the RD/MKS sounds) and are these layered? Reason for asking is that I could set up one in my local music shop using your settings and if all goes well consider buying it. Best wishes and keep up the good work.
This is the internal sounds from the keyboard. I use the Piano 1 from the MKS with some chorus on, and have layered it with stage piano 4 on the rd 2000. Then I've adjusted the eq to get it more crisp. I don't think the sound is completely there, as you need the power grand from the Motif module, which is hard to get on the RD-2000
@@LimeCovers Well I think you’ve done a great job in getting very close to the MKS/Motif combi. How do you find the RD2000? Will you gig with it and has the FP4 gone to Roland heaven?
@@strongchord4384 I still have the FP-4, but the keybed is kinda beaten up after heavy use. I will use this for gigs - it's heavier than the FP-4, but not too heavy.
@@luism9278 Possibly yes
@@luism9278 I think so - I'm not very talented when it comes to the technical stuff. Also, I do not know where to get the motif powergrand sample nor how to import it to the keyboard. I guess this is the best the RD-2000 can sound without external sounds (at least when it comes to the Elton live sound).
Do you have sheet music for this?
