  • A short video on a 33 year old Paasche VL airbrush I found in an old box in my garage. The airbrush was bought for me when I was around 10 years old. I also do an unboxing, from Amazon, of a new wooden storage box and a new aluminum airbrush handle to update it.

I just got one of these from my grandmother. I haven't tried it yet as I don't have a compressor yet but I'm hoping it will work. I just bought a Iwata HP C plus, so this wont be my main brush. Thank you for this video!

    Interesting video 👍✌️✌️
I wish we could get those cases, easily, in the UK, that would be really useful.
I still have a Paasche (single action external mix) and Humbrol AB from about 1976/77. Paasche seem bomb proof, the Humbrol AB was troublesome (I abused it tbh as I was only 9 or 10 at the time), terrible plastic thing (single action external mix)🤔😄😄🤕🙈🙉🙊

Thank you for the video I enjoyed it I have a VL I bought 1971 the price on the box is $33.95 i've only had to buy one rebuild kit the entire time I've owned this brush but I do a complete tear down and deep cleaning every 10 hours this brush still works perfectly it is definitely a workhorse

You're making me feel really old, grandpa old. I have 2 VL sets I bought new in 1984 or 1985. One I haven't even touched yet. My interest then was t-shirts and the VL series were highly recommended for that use. Economical and durable for putting through lots of paint or ink. They were not thought of as high end for accurate response or for fine illustration. That's OK. There is a tool for every job. I didn't stick at it and put everything in a tool box and sealed it 15 years ago.
My motorcycle helmet finish got scuffed last year and water based acrylics would be perfect for the small touch up areas on the helmet, requiring 3 colors of stripes. If some tests with brushes aren't good enough, I'll be priming at least one VL airbrush.
Thanks for the "memory lane" moment.

Thank you for the comment. If it makes you fee any younger, I am 48 now, that make the VL around 37 years old now. Your right about a brush for every job, I recently picked a Herder & Steenbeck; that brush is in a class of it's own. The VL is like a reliable tank and I don't see it ever going away.

Don't underestimate the VL - swap to the No1 needle and nozzle and it will fine line. I have one and I do fine detail art on canvas with it...they are tough and reliable - Cheers
