I’ve been to their latest concert in Brazil (11/15/24). She is clearly evolving and, show after show, she is starting nailing the emotion part of the most famous songs (crawling is a great example, in oldest videos she sang with anger, but now she sings with saddness and pain - it just got a lot better). She has a long way to go, but she has a golden voice and, most importantly, SHE ALREADY SOUNDS LIKE LINKIN PARK.

I've been listening to it Non-Stop. I like how every song is different. Each song has influence from different albums. You can hear the hybrid theory the hunting party. Pretty much every song even from their last album. Very well produced. Can't wait to hear the new stuff live.

Mike once again shows how talented he is in producing and knowing what songs will sound like. How they all kept it a secret while making this freaking awesome album is crazy! This comeback is so massive and so well received it just makes me smile ear too ear! Couldn't be happier for this band that over the past 24 years got me through some serious depression and social anxiety I cried when I saw them coming back. I don't think any other band could comeback so big as Linkin Park has. This band needs to be present because I can only imagine how many fans it's helped like myself through the rough times as well as the good times. I live for this music, literally!! Long live Linkin Park!!! RIP Chester, we will never forget you or let your legacy be erased. in my humble opinion, it's not the right time... let it all sink, let people embrace her as the "legit singer" first: that is, they are in a such delicate situation right now, and there's always a giant called Chester resonating in out heads with that songs, as it IS meant to be... but eventually, in a near future, I'd really love to see that: even just an acoustic version would be nice. The choise of "not stepping at all into was it was, but to move forward" is Mike's way to invite all of us to go with them: always remember, but keep. moving. forward. There'll be a time when tributing Chester won't be seen disrespectful, it won't trigger angerness but pure melancholy, that will be the right time... but first they need to build a solid base of people hearing Emily and accept her, totally, saying "oh, Linkin Park!" instead of "oh, Emily's new LP song"... all in my opinion (I love them both, as two different stages of my life, differently. I'm going with them, I'll ALWAYS remember Chester and move foward with Emily, and this is my little suggestion of behaving for all of us)

I don't think they'll ever do this more for the fact of that would seem like erasing the past and what Chester did, as much as I would love a full studio version of Lost, My December and Waiting for the end with her on it, though there is a film of the Brazil show coming out which may come with the live versions so we will have something and I am happy with that.

For me it’s about the emotion as she says. I still feel different when I hear breaking the habit from Chester. Like that one hits so much different. Also new divide I feel like Chester’s version of new divide is more relatable to me. You know what I also think that’s fine. She is doing better job for other songs. I like her waiting for the end version for example.
I remember when the Reanimation album first came out. I loved the alternate ways the songs were mixed - some being more of a favourite to me than the original. This feels exactly the same. Excited for the next chapter.

I have been listening to the new album today. Honestly , I miss hearing Chester’s voice, but at the same time it’s nice to hear something new/different. I’m also happy to hear a woman’s voice in Linkin Park, I think it’s so cool for them to go with her.
What she's saying is that for so many fans, it's half or more of our LIVES that these songs have meant soooooo much. She's cracking into the shell of our hearts and lives.... the legend of LP. I LOVE her respectful awareness of that- even if she can't put words to it. IMHO, he "different" sound is NOT bad... it's GREAT... but it's RESPECTFULLY different. It doesn't dishonor or undo the old work, but it does something new- and her EMOTION is amazing. She's great.

I never could figure out why anyone liked Linkin Park. I'm 47. Heard about them, but couldn't get into them. Heard the first single from Emily and fell in love. Just loved it. Went back and listened to some of Chester. Nope. I got the album, would see them live, am a new fan.
Mike hit on a very important point with people doing their versions of other peoples' music, which is basically how everyone gets their start doing music anyway. It's okay to be uncomrtable with the differences. It's also important to be open to change, because music is as alive as any of us, and will grow as we do, and sometimes, even take on different forms.
Thinking about Mike and Emily playing a broken down acoustic version of Crawling, just like Mike and Chester used to do gives me chills. I can't wait to see them soon (I hope)!
Most everyone has no idea what it is like to be next to a powerful singer who can really belt it out. They're so freaking LOUD! I used to play in a band with a powerful female lead singer that could really sing, and I could hear her natural voice over my freaking amplified guitar! It was great 🙂
I think the only thing I do not like about those performances of older hits are the fact that the pitch needs to be shifted up so Emily can sing along with it. Don’t get me wrong, Emily is awesome, but that just kinda sours those songs a bit for me. Maybe I’ll get over it, but I feel it’s kinda odd.
Yeah. I'm glad someone else feels that way. I feel In the End is okay in the new pitch, but songs like Numb need to be in the original pitch. I guess it's to do with the keys that give it that sad, emotional vibe that people resonated with. Now it's really more of a happy or more optimistic sounding song which is good in theory but the lyricism does not match the melody. I felt that most of their songs have been originally nailing the pitch part simply because they reflect the emotional turmoil in those keys extremely well. Instead of changing the pitch altogether, they could do what they have been doing with Points of Authority, where Mike does the lower end and Emily belts out the high notes.

I think she could do this very well; Crawling, Numb and so on have already very high-pitched choruses.

Though the circumstances, and experiences are different, I remember when Van Halen "dumped" David Lee Roth for Sammy Hagar. Anyone that is a fan of Van Halen feels that David's voice was who you thought of immediately when you think of Van Halen and their songs. He was in Foundation albums of the band. Sammy brought a whole new feel , and direction to Van Halen when he joined. Their albums were quite different from their earlier ones, which showed growth, and Sammy's influence & creativity. IMHO, I believe that that wouldn't have occurred had David continued to be their lead singer. However, Sammy also had to sing their earlier songs on stage, and had to make it his own to perform them. With Linkin Park, this entire circumstances of Emily coming into the band is completely different. The loss of Chester is deeply emotional for many of their fans, and they would not feel it is "right" to have someone just replace the lead singer like it was a business decision. However, Emily has... NOT replaced Chester. The band has evolved, and I liken it to being Linkin Park Mark 2. The energy she brings to the band is invigorating, electric, and a touch feminine. That gives a new feel, and edge that I have heard from the album From Zero. I am eager to hear more from them. And Emily has it correct, in that she has to understand the various emotional layers of the songs Chester was on to really make the songs their own again. Hoping to hear more from them in the future.
They've done the impossible here. When we lost him, I thought we'd never get a continuation of this incredible band. We're lucky. Everything else going to shit in this timeline but we get a second chance at Linkin Park.
She's not trying to replace Chester but she want's to pay homage and give the audience something good that may be a little different, but it's still good. I like her and I think people will struggle to get used to her because they will always compare her to Chester. She's not, but that's okay.
Not really a fan of Linkin Park but I compare this to William Duval replacing Layne Stayley in Alice In Chains. Both bands previous vocalists are irreplaceable but both Will and Emily respectfully are not trying to be the Layne or Chester but are carving their own path in a new era of both bands whilst still maintaining the core sounds that people have grown to love over the bands existences.
IDK I just can´t get warm with her. She may fit into new concept of the Band and the songs are pretty good from their new album no question on that, but in my opinion she just can´t sing the old songs, not because she can´t reach chesters level I think nobody will ever can, but I think she didn´t really feel the songs and so she can´t reproduce the same "old" LP feeling. This is just my opinion...
I think Crawling and Numb need to either go back to the original key or split the difference. They are currently so high that no one can sing along. Which wouldn't stand out so much as an issue if it wasn't for Emily not singing 50% of the song and letting the crowd sing instead. I get the whole symbolism of the crowd playing the role of Chester, but it's just a symbolic gesture that, while nice, the people in the audience paid a lot of money to sing with the band, not with the 40 people around them singing out of key. And because of this decision, there's now a bunch of great live videos that are missing Emily's great vocal performances from these iconic songs.
Song keys need to fit within the singer's range. That's part of songwriting. U can bet that there were songs with Chester that started in other keys but got switched at some point to fit him.
You realize that if they go back to the original key she'll have trouble singing the song right? New Divide is in the original key, and while Emily sings it beautifully sometimes i get the feeling she's not comfortable with it. For example, if they go back to the original key for Breaking the Habit, she'll have a very difficult time hitting the high notes in the bridge. She only lets the crowd take the lead on Crawling, she sings like 90 percent of Numb herself, there were only a couple of shows that she let them sing more.

I have been listening to the new album today. Honestly , I miss hearing Chester’s voice, but at the same time it’s nice to hear something new/different. I’m also happy to hear a woman’s voice in Linkin Park, I think it’s so cool for them to go with her.
I like how she didn’t mention Chester by name until he was brought up my Mike.
What she's saying is that for so many fans, it's half or more of our LIVES that these songs have meant soooooo much. She's cracking into the shell of our hearts and lives.... the legend of LP.
I LOVE her respectful awareness of that- even if she can't put words to it.
IMHO, he "different" sound is NOT bad... it's GREAT... but it's RESPECTFULLY different. It doesn't dishonor or undo the old work, but it does something new- and her EMOTION is amazing. She's great.

I never could figure out why anyone liked Linkin Park. I'm 47. Heard about them, but couldn't get into them. Heard the first single from Emily and fell in love. Just loved it. Went back and listened to some of Chester. Nope. I got the album, would see them live, am a new fan.

Mike hit on a very important point with people doing their versions of other peoples' music, which is basically how everyone gets their start doing music anyway. It's okay to be uncomrtable with the differences. It's also important to be open to change, because music is as alive as any of us, and will grow as we do, and sometimes, even take on different forms.

Most everyone has no idea what it is like to be next to a powerful singer who can really belt it out. They're so freaking LOUD! I used to play in a band with a powerful female lead singer that could really sing, and I could hear her natural voice over my freaking amplified guitar! It was great 🙂

Very interesting, because when I watched the livestream show and she sang Crawling, I thought her voice and the song were absolutely perfect together.

I think the only thing I do not like about those performances of older hits are the fact that the pitch needs to be shifted up so Emily can sing along with it. Don’t get me wrong, Emily is awesome, but that just kinda sours those songs a bit for me. Maybe I’ll get over it, but I feel it’s kinda odd.
Yeah. I'm glad someone else feels that way. I feel In the End is okay in the new pitch, but songs like Numb need to be in the original pitch. I guess it's to do with the keys that give it that sad, emotional vibe that people resonated with. Now it's really more of a happy or more optimistic sounding song which is good in theory but the lyricism does not match the melody.
I felt that most of their songs have been originally nailing the pitch part simply because they reflect the emotional turmoil in those keys extremely well. Instead of changing the pitch altogether, they could do what they have been doing with Points of Authority, where Mike does the lower end and Emily belts out the high notes.

I think she could do this very well; Crawling, Numb and so on have already very high-pitched choruses.
Ye some songs feel odd, like you're listening a kids' version cause of the higher pitch. But Mike is right, eventually it'll sound alright and we'll get used to it.

nope, still. no one sings Chester's part. He's dead yes, but his legacy is still on his lifetime of work! and thank you mike, I didn't know I could put an icepick in my ear's multiple times. I'm a hardcore Chester fan. I can't take listening to her sing HIS songs he wrote and or helped write. I can't watch or believe in another singer singing his songs live on stage. if they never played another Chester song, then ok, fine. I'm sorry I am being foreword. That's my bipolar 1 in action. Though the circumstances, and experiences are different, I remember when Van Halen "dumped" David Lee Roth for Sammy Hagar. Anyone that is a fan of Van Halen feels that David's voice was who you thought of immediately when you think of Van Halen and their songs. He was in Foundation albums of the band. Sammy brought a whole new feel , and direction to Van Halen when he joined. Their albums were quite different from their earlier ones, which showed growth, and Sammy's influence & creativity. IMHO, I believe that that wouldn't have occurred had David continued to be their lead singer. However, Sammy also had to sing their earlier songs on stage, and had to make it his own to perform them.
With Linkin Park, this entire circumstances of Emily coming into the band is completely different. The loss of Chester is deeply emotional for many of their fans, and they would not feel it is "right" to have someone just replace the lead singer like it was a business decision. However, Emily has... NOT replaced Chester. The band has evolved, and I liken it to being Linkin Park Mark 2. The energy she brings to the band is invigorating, electric, and a touch feminine. That gives a new feel, and edge that I have heard from the album From Zero. I am eager to hear more from them. And Emily has it correct, in that she has to understand the various emotional layers of the songs Chester was on to really make the songs their own again. Hoping to hear more from them in the future.

They've done the impossible here. When we lost him, I thought we'd never get a continuation of this incredible band. We're lucky. Everything else going to shit in this timeline but we get a second chance at Linkin Park.
She's not trying to replace Chester but she want's to pay homage and give the audience something good that may be a little different, but it's still good. I like her and I think people will struggle to get used to her because they will always compare her to Chester. She's not, but that's okay.

Not really a fan of Linkin Park but I compare this to William Duval replacing Layne Stayley in Alice In Chains. Both bands previous vocalists are irreplaceable but both Will and Emily respectfully are not trying to be the Layne or Chester but are carving their own path in a new era of both bands whilst still maintaining the core sounds that people have grown to love over the bands existences.

IDK I just can´t get warm with her. She may fit into new concept of the Band and the songs are pretty good from their new album no question on that, but in my opinion she just can´t sing the old songs, not because she can´t reach chesters level I think nobody will ever can, but I think she didn´t really feel the songs and so she can´t reproduce the same "old" LP feeling. This is just my opinion...

I think Crawling and Numb need to either go back to the original key or split the difference. They are currently so high that no one can sing along. Which wouldn't stand out so much as an issue if it wasn't for Emily not singing 50% of the song and letting the crowd sing instead. I get the whole symbolism of the crowd playing the role of Chester, but it's just a symbolic gesture that, while nice, the people in the audience paid a lot of money to sing with the band, not with the 40 people around them singing out of key. And because of this decision, there's now a bunch of great live videos that are missing Emily's great vocal performances from these iconic songs.

Song keys need to fit within the singer's range. That's part of songwriting. U can bet that there were songs with Chester that started in other keys but got switched at some point to fit him.
You realize that if they go back to the original key she'll have trouble singing the song right?
New Divide is in the original key, and while Emily sings it beautifully sometimes i get the feeling she's not comfortable with it.
For example, if they go back to the original key for Breaking the Habit, she'll have a very difficult time hitting the high notes in the bridge.
She only lets the crowd take the lead on Crawling, she sings like 90 percent of Numb herself, there were only a couple of shows that she let them sing more.
