@@albemic516 It's really part of the culture, eastern asian culture really looks down on "asking for a handout", so the society doesn't encourage the concept of social safety net, thus people are generally more risk-averse and much more conservative with their purchase and getting into debt. Also asian culture heavily heavily encourage saving, while American and general western nations has a saving rate of about 4%, Eastern asian nations generally save about 30-70% of their paycheck, thus less so of a chance to fell into homelessness, and finally, well built homeless shelter and etc.
I spent 6 months in Beijing, China back in 2013 working.. these videos bring back some nice memories .. btw I could walk for hours in different parts of the city and never felt any kind of danger .. and the people I met there were the nicest human beings I have known since.. Thank you for creating this channel!
I was last there in 2008. Was very safe and never once felt uncomfortable. It has totally changed from since I last visited. Looks far more modern and it seems they have dealt with the horrific pollution which was so bad back when I was there.
It looks so clean! I still remember as recent as 2015 when I first went to Beijing and it looked really different. Have been going back each year until COVID and I could always see a improvement. Big props to this channel for the great production.
Beijing is far from the most modern looking city in China. But it's got this perfect blend of modernity and tradition. Definitely my favorite Chinese mega city.
Beijing is such a cosmopolitan and sophisticated city. Few places in the world can match the scale of modern infrastructure and monumental historical sights that is today's Beijing. Your video is a wonderful display of that amazing metropolis. Great work Max!
there is a very obvious clash of old and new culture for sure, being one of the few main cities people would flock to when china was rapidly developing, we can really see the difference between the old and the new.
China is incredible. The world will be a much better place when American power collapses and Chinese power grows. They have a superior culture, they are industrious, respectful, hardworking, and they push education. Chinese cities are low in crime and high in smart hardworking people. The West used to be like China but the leadership class has abandoned domestic policy and so the American people are abandoned with no high paying jobs, horrible schools, dangerous cities, drugs, obese people, and barely educated working and middle class families who barely survive and are one missed paycheck from foreclosure.
When I see such pictures of Asia, I get emotional. China is an example for the world, especially for Asia. Hope China will help other Asian countries to move forward. Love from INDIA 🙏

It's amazing how the large Asian cities are all so safe at night and during the day. I've visited and lived in many cities and the big Asian cities are by far the safest to be outside at night. Beijing, Shanghai, Toyko, Seoul, Taipei, HK, Singapore are all so safe. You can walk down dark alleys at 3am and still feel safe; imagine doing that in NYC, Chicago, SF or LA. You'll get mugged, beaten or shot.

Wow! I am seriously impressed by China’s infrastructure :) Every single video I watch never fails to amaze me, I’m from Scotland and the cities here aren’t nearly as clean and beautiful, I’d love to visit one day.
As a Beijinger, I think that Beijing is not the most modern city in China, but cities like Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou are the most avant-garde cities in China. As an ancient capital with a history of thousands of years and more than a hundred royal garden landscapes left over from history, its urban design and planning determine that Beijing's modern urban transformation cannot destroy the style and appearance of the ancient capital.
I always felt safe in Beijing, even walking around late at night. It has a great metro system, very modern, and always plenty of taxis. I loved the cafes and the difference between the old (Hutong) and new (Soho areas). There is always something to discover, something to surprise you.Tourists must be careful of the scams however, such as young girls going up to you and asking 'Where are you from?' They will try to take you to a place to make you spend money (usually a lot of money, on which they will get a commission). When you know the scams and can avoid them, Beijing is a great place, I really miss it.
Your channel made me want to book a trip to China.... I knew already that China got some very impressive meacities, but after seeing your nighttime video of Chongqing, I was absolutely blown away. This look like the cities Isaac Asimov wrote about, absolutely amazing. I don't want to touch the human rights and politics stuff, only wanted to write about my admiration for the sheer beauty of these cities. And by the way, your video quality is impeccable, and the fact that you never add music and never talk, make it more special.
Looks like that art zone was still under renovation processed and I think once that place was fully opened to the public, many Chinese people from other parts of china will visit that place. A school activity tour was also good for that art zone

And not just this vid, but other ones too such as Shanghai, Wuhan, Shenzhen, etc. I love your walking tours Max and hope you continue producing them for us on this channel! Hopefully there comes a day when I'm able to return to some of these beautiful places we've both been to as well as new ones I have yet to explore (my China city bucket list is forever growing!). I don't think I've seen it on your channel yet, but hope one day you can travel to Liaoning, Dalian, China. :) It's a beautiful metropolis close to the ocean filled with wonderful natural scenery and seafood dishes~ Nightlife is alive and well and there is some European history tied to it like Tianjin. Beijing is one of the most beautiful & advance capitals of the world❤.Its highly developed,clean & safe with incredible infrastructure and rich ancient history.Wangjing Soho is a amazing looking building.Beijing railway station looks beautiful.The CBD area looks straight out of the future.It was cute to see children hugging the panda mascot at Solana shopping mall.Love the different illumination decorations near the Solana shopping mall. The temple of heaven looks incredible.You should have shown the temple from the inside.I want you to make an another video on Beijing but this time only show the ancient sites.I hope I get the chance to visit this beautiful capital one day and see the forbidden Palace with my very own eyes❤.
I like the part of Beijing with high rises (starting about 1:58:39) because it feels like a metropolis modern city. Also with the lights on the trees... the city looks beautiful, modern, and vibrant.

很喜欢北京的行走视频，和评论区的很多人一样，我也曾经在这座城市待过几年，Max，你真的很擅长拍摄，路线规划的不错，这次主要拍摄的是朝阳东城西城，我猜你也曾经在北京待过一段时间吧。我喜欢北京的气候，永远四季分明，每个季节都鲜艳明亮，都有它应该有的样子，城市气质舒朗大气，整体布局恢宏开阔。北京，永远古老，永远年轻，汇聚四海，多元包容，和谐混搭，真的是一座可爱的城市。
我对北京的感情确实很复杂，作为在北京某大学上过四年学的南方孩子，其实四年都还不适应北京的干燥和寒冷，这里有我好多可爱的同学们，当然，也有青葱往事……感谢你的美好留言，北京因你的留言而格外可爱❤

I like the part of Beijing with high rises (starting about 1:58:39) because it feels like a metropolis modern city. Also with the lights on the trees... the city looks beautiful, modern, and vibrant.

Beijing has its share of issues, just like any other major city, but that said, it is chock full of history and culture, and the locals are generally hospitable. If you can get in touch with a local guide, that would be ideal, as he/she can take you to interesting spots that aren't on an average tourist's radar.
It was my first time ever left Beijing continuously for more than 2 years. This video brings my thoughts back again.
