*Last minute decision.. Thoughts?*
I think the color would look good on a drum kit
dark blue and gold are perfect together, like lapis lazuli.
you got a little more steely blue which is nice - not sure if the particular topcoat really did anything - 4 for color but probably better ways to get there
Good job. It wasn’t overpowering the blue
I like it because it's an example of a stark contrast.
That's said, as much as the color combinations you guys choose is absolutely stellar, I'd much rather see plain old black and white (either black base with a white shimmer shine or a white base with a black shimmer shine).
Particularly with those Culture Hustle black and whites.
I have a feeling that the camera does not do this justice. It is subtle and elegant. 5/5.
Yeah I wish I could gather around with all you guys and we can check it out/talk about it outside together. For now 4K HDR is the best we can do.. but it always looks better in person :)
I agree. this iis one of those elegant combinations that is an in person must-see
yah, looking at it from here can still see it does look good
@@dipyourcar I don't want to blame the camera as much as I BLAME the YT compression. Yt compression and your type of content (or mini plaining, or art in general) is a sad affair
@@dipyourcardid you get a new camera? Maybe different format or settings. Seems brighter and clearer. Maybe just that Florida sunshine hitting different.
You unintentionally made a gold-tinted thunder/gunmetal, SO clean
I wasn't expecting it to go so gunmetal but the highlights and shimmers are so subtle. I think it's stunning. And I bet it looks even better in person.
my thoughts exactly!
I love the gunmetal
thought the same thing when I first saw it, really like the result
I was legit shocked at the up close transitions when it'd burst into yellow/gold & you could really see the blue. Amazing mix & results.
Yah, actually love the gunmetal to yellow to blue shift 5/5
I love the effect of this one! Not just a homerun... a grandslam!!! 5!!!!!
You made a Dark Horse... I dig it. Good job, Gabe! 5/5 💯🔥
This might be my favorite of the ones you've done. I love the subtlety of it, instead of another flashy orange and purple car.
The enthusiasm for the project was overwhelming
Saturn yellow over lime green was like an explosion in a mad chemists lab. I would looooove to see that mixture on a car!
me too
I love it; I was wondering how that yellow would look on my car, which is a Hyundai in "Electrolyte", which is basically that lime green.
I also love the yellow over the anthracite.
It's surprisingly pretty good. I like how the yellow appears as a highlight when at an angle; it gives the blue some definition.
I was expecting more of a green to come from the combination.
I like this color
Blue and yellow mixed makes green. Yellow on top of blue doesn't. If they had mixed the pearl into the base coat it might have come out slightly green.
Blue and yellow mixed don't necessarily make green either. It depends on the pigments. There's a really good book for artists about mixing paint colors called "Blue and Yellow Don't Make Green" that talks about this a lot -- but basically, unless the blue has a bit of green in it, and the yellow has a bit of green in it, you get something more gray than green.
Gabe has grown so much out of what was his shell! I think it's awesome and you guys make a great team. For a video series you could pick subscribers to come and see your facility and do a project spray on their personal vehicle that they wish they could see a video of.
Turned out better than I thought it would. Over the anthracite looked pretty awesome too.
Okay. I need to see a peeling video now. Is it as satisfying as I’m imagining it is? 🤔🙏
That's a great idea! 👍
I think they have a couple of how to remove the paint videos, but I think it would be fun if they it did more. Maybe put some clips of removing the previous color in? It is pretty satisfying.
We have several peeling videos on the channel! I'd film more but people don't seem to watch them
@@dipyourcar Well those are quite old aren't they? And the most recent ones were shorts. Your 6th most watched video is a peeling video!
5/5. Beautiful. Turns the vibrant blue into a more denim blue with that subtle golden sheen, so pretty 😍 LOVE IT 😍
Wow. Not what I was expecting. My husband graduated for the US Naval Academy & this car screams GO NAVY BEAT ARMY!
Saturn yellow over pure purple looks insanely good, that's a winner for me
I never read the comments before I watch, this subverted my expectations. I always rate on whether or not I would rock this look on my truck, and i absolutely would. 5/5, there’s a lot to take in with the subtlety. It’s not wild and crazy, it’s more elegant than that.
Car came out really nice , also liked the purple and the grey .
And you need to do more shows after lunch , that’s the most I have heard Gabe talk in 10 episodes combined .😀
5/5 🎉 My favorite project, expecting disaster and ending up with a beautiful shimmering metallic purple!
I absolutely love this! It looks gunmetal at some angles, slate blue at other angles and then there's the subtle gold shimmer. Stunning! 5/5
It pops crazy on that Electric lime and red, looks sick on those base colors 😍
I love the videos that are "bad ideas". People already do the "good ideas". We can find those all over the place on social media and elsewhere. Only the dip pros with a paintbooth and obligations to produce content try the "bad ideas". I'm here for it.
They’re my favorites, and I usually love the results. This one included. And I love how Gabe is getting into the chaotic approach. So much fun!
Gabe's choice was on point, should of shown various stages when they cut it back in pigment loads to see the full results to final decision.
For something that you just put together on the fly, I think this came out pretty good. I get the feeling you did exactly the right thing cutting the pigment load back, because even now (in the video at least) the blue is getting kinda clouded out. It's still there, but not as vibrant as before. The golden color over the top, however, looks really good! Overall I would rate 4/5.
Wow the saturn yellow looks nice over everything! It didn't pop as much over white. But all of the other colors looked great! This car definitely gets a 5+!
the honesty is great, love it
6 / 5 subtle silvery color with gold and blue highlights! Outstanding!
Definitely a 10 of 10 winner. Wasn't expecting this result. The muted blue with a slight shimmer is an amazing mix.
At first I thought, shame on both of you!😂 then I thought, it’s gonna be some puke green!? Turns out, it’s not bad! Kinda of gun metalish? You both slithered through this! 😂. Good stuff!
Actually looks great. I like subtle sometimes. 5/5
I love that you guys are willing to make mistakes and still show them off to your audience. We learn more from mistakes than from successes!
I honestly felt this energy, guys. You are not the only ones having that kind of work week. *bro hugs*
I would call it Gandalf, because that is some next level wizardry right there! 5/5
subtle but CLASSY GUNMETAL LOOKS FAB!
6
Up to the reveal you and Gabe were giving off a strong day-drinking vibe and I was expecting a disaster on wheels...
I was not expecting a fantastic blued-steel with captured sunshine highlight! Fantastic 5/5!
The Saturn Yellow seemed to complement all of the speedshapes at the end with the surprise standout for me being White; it makes an Antique Cream that would strongly suit a classic European car, something like a Mini or a Morris Minor 😎
Its like sunshine suddenly shows up aat various points on it. Love the subtle effects. Yeah this is an elegant look and is a 5/5.
I love the subtlety and understated sexiness of this pearl. I’m surprised at how much it brightened up the blue but I love the overall effect!
I’ll give’er a 4.5 easily, this is one of the pearl effects I’ve always loved. Clean, relatively simple and understated. Great project, fellas!
Absolutely brilliant! Almost a gunmetal with a shift to bright gold! Beautiful work! 🤩🤩 5/5
Guys, just wanted to say thank you for listening to me (and poss others, i don't know if anyone else said it lol). You now include the shots of cutting the mix before spraying. So much easier to understand how to get the same results when we see that step lol. Also, i kinda thought this mix was gonna be either a trainwreck or a green. It turned out gorgeous!!
Wow, truly stunning in a subtle way. The flashes of yellow just appear out of nowhere 5/5
I love this channel
Watching the spray and reveal is better than meditation 🧘
This is the best one you guys have done in quite a while, love it. I don't see cloudiness either but that could be me ot the camera. 5/5 subtle, elegant, gorgeous.
The Saturn over purple speed shape looked great too, a lot flashier but equally interesting
I would of never thought it’d come out like that!
I don’t hate it
Gabe without a hat? Gabe show off that golden mane!😆
5/5
It's definitely different and I love the results. Definitely need to do more videos like this of at the very last minute to decide to just up and get 2 different color choices and go with it. Never know the results until it's completed.
The world will not end if you don't get a video out every week. Quality over quantity. That Electric Lime Green would have hit the mark.
Fonzi: Crap, the week's almost done and we don't have an idea for the viewers. let's think of a quick combo
Evil Gabe: let's put a base and a non matching pearl on top and call it a day. why not yellow saturn over marine blue?
Fonzi: I dunnooooo man.. sounds like a recipe for disaster
...
Fonzi (Mid way through the process): Man, i think we're heading straight to a wall
Confident Gabe: Naaah, just lower the pigment load.. it'll all go smooth.
...
Final result: a stunning blue-greyish, sunny, metallic GORGEOUS car. 5/5
NB: looks amazing over anthracite and red
I am not even a car girl but I love these videos and this is a combo I would put on my car. This is gorgeous!!!!!
Did NOT think for a moment, even tho Gabe was tellin' all - that I would like this! But I DO! 5/5 Truthfully I love anything blue but the way the pearl presents...... I like. Like it a Lot. And on a 5.0, sweet!
I really like the yellow over the dark, deep blue - and normally I run in the other direction when yellow is involved. It's sleek, adult and adds a lot of dimension to the Mustang's impression on the eye. Verrrrrry nice!!!!
Guys....this was a gamble, but man...I think it paid off!!! That's a beautiful, subtle look. I would rock this any day!
What an absolute gem of a color, like a deep periwinkle with gold highlights. ✨️ You guys do some genius work. I love it. Very easy 5/5
Dude. I love this. Normally I'm all about the dramatic, super shifty colours. The shift on this is subtle, but still pops! 5 for me.
Guys, this color arrangement is awesome. The side view of the car has a steel color to it. Love it. It's subtle enough to not stand out but still catches the eye and turns heads.
Gorgeous gunmetal gray with a touch of Saturn. ❤️
I thought I was going to hate it from the second you mixed the yellow pearl. You're decision to cut it back was spot on. It is crazy cool!
The subtlety is so nice on this. Love it.
Totally love it!!! The color is just sooo smooth..... Its a perfect match has this like blue/gun metal/gold smooth transition hue. Just perfect
OK that wasn’t what I expected at all!!! But it’s beautiful! I really love it! 5/5! ❤❤❤❤
From the right angle, the car looks like it’s going Super Saiyan.
It’s dope! I love the subtlety. Gorgeous!
Lemon glazed Blueberry! I love this one! 💛💙 5/5, totally recommend!
5/5 I love this combo. Nice and subtle. great job. Looks great over the gray again also.
I did not expect to like this at all but I completely LOVE this color! Gorgeous!
Ooh, this is subtle. I really like this! It gives just the right amount of pop.
Holy moly... Looks incredible over anthracite!
The final color was a complete surprise. Really subtle and intriguing, this would turn heads on the street. A 5 for me. As for the examples in the final segment, the green was fun.
I LOVE it. It’s managed to completely change the shade of blue in a way I didn’t expect
I effing love this!! I was expecting some sort of green but this is amazing!!
Ya know, when Fonzie said “Well....we made something.". I immediately got scared 😳. I thought oh man... how bad is it? 🤦. IT'S 5/5!!! WOW!!! This is a beautiful car. 😊
That came out way better than I was expecting. Excellent results!
That turned out amazing. Very unique, but it's not ugly unique. It's amazing unique.
Very subtle and it works. Very nice.
It's soft, subtle and just really pretty. It went from the deep blue, to a steel blue with yellow highlights. And it looks more satin finish. 5/5!
More Pastel attempts need to be made! That one Carbon Blue Pearls over Sharkskin Grey was legit amazing and I'd love to see more attempts to make a new Pastel color
Ok... Saturn Yellow over Pure Purple is insane combo. I´d love to see it full scale.
It turned out better than I expected! It looks amazing!
❤️ It! Echos back to my first set of wheels! Toyota Celica 1985 midnight blue! 5/5 in my books. Thanks for the walk down memory lane 😆
Love the subtlety of this one! Solid 4 for me. Looked great over the anthracite too!
Such a subtle shimmer. Amazing!!! 5
Considering the two colors that you started with, I think it turned out very well. I would never have guessed it would have looked that way, but I actually like it.
Beautiful, i love the subtle pop
That is one of the coolest things I have ever seen as far a painted car goes!!
10/10!
That's way hotter than I expected!
Now, do the exact same thing with a cobalt pearl split 50/50 pigment load!
Or an anthracite grey base!
Beautiful!! You guys made the right choice by cutting it more! 5/5 💙💛💙💛
Over Electric Lime is sublime. Absolutely perfect.
One of my favorites so far. It is honestly stunning.
Was not expecting the gun metal. Love it! It looks so good over the green and red too!
Honestly this is a great job of being a nice extremely subtle pearl. When it hits it HITS
Beautiful colo!! Purple. My favorite.
💯 VERY COOL!! Not what I expected, but I'm loving the effect!! 😍
Well done. I also love it over the purple, gray, and red.
I loved the base color and was surprised when even the more diluted version changed the color but it looks great. My favorite was the yellow over red!
This came out so BEAUTIFUL!
For a complete goof I love it. It is a little splotchy but the blue with the yellow shift is amazing.
5+...😍... This actually turned out to be gorgeous... very elegant and subtle... I'd love to see this over anthracite or red hence they looked very interesting... ❤... keep the crazy mixes coming...and have an awesome weekend 😎 ❤
That actually looks pretty good. Gabe is probably happy as it’s doing just what he was expecting.
I’m curious how this would look over red.
Also, perhaps try more of these colored pearls over mismatched bases as it seems those experiments have had the better results, maybe another dual color base?
You didn’t watch the end of the video. Check out at about 7:22, but all the speed shapes at the end are worth seeing.
This is quite beautiful. I really enjoy this mix. Would love to see more red combos
That its so close to an oem Opel/Vauxhall color from the 90's. I love it!
Really interesting tri-color effect 👍 I'm so happy you're adding the varying colored speed shapes too. I know it's a pain but damn is it ever appreciated
Sorry late on watching the video, 1 o’clock pacific time. That color combination is nothing that imagined it would be, very impressive! 👍 love the turn out
