    Pin gauges are hardened. They can damage themselves easily if they make contact with each other. That's why they're wrapped. Also your micrometer is definitely off.

    Thank you for the information, I too was not sure about oversize and undersize. Was expecting the set to be more expensive. Hope you have had a good weekend.

    Not very informative. the Plus gauges are typically -0.0000 to +0.0002, and the Minus gauges are -0.0002 to +0.0000 of the nominal size. Almost every reading of yours was under by -0.0005, which makes one wonder the micrometer was properly zeroed. A tenths-reading micrometer would have been more appropriate - as the gauge sets are supplied in increments of 0.001
