Do a video on The Rise of the Sun Belt Conference. It wasn't that long ago that the conference loss a ton of members to CUSA and was a complete afterthought in the FBS. The doormat of the FBS if you will. Now, their arguably the second best conference in the Group of 5.

i love that ccu is showing out. im from columbia and have been going to myrtle beach my whole life so im well aware of CCU. their in Conway which is about 20 miles away. i dont think people realize its actually not a bad school sports wise. they won a natty in baseball a few years ago when they knocked off arizona. also dustin went there. also made the ncaa tournament in 14, and 15

I worked @CCU (but left a little over a year ago) and it's really exciting to see the program succeed and the University getting more publicity. The university as a whole has bought in to the pride and school spirt. It's preached, shown, and felt from Day 1. They don't have the time-honored and well known history that a lot of Power-5 schools do because athletics is still relatively new to the University. Naturally it's tough to get the community excited while still forming the "traditions" as you go. Getting 17-22 year old's to buy-in and get excited about something new without it being seen or felt as corny, cheesy, or forced is incredibly difficult. But at Coastal they've done it right. Like every University or job or place there's going to be thing or two that individuals will dislike or disagree with and Coastal is no different. However unlike other places, everyone's on board and genuinely loves the University. The pride and spirit is real. I miss Conway dearly and it's nothing but excitement when Coastal comes up. Really happy to see the continued success. #CHAUNTSUP

I'm sure they do. It's just harder to evaluate Group of 5 teams as the thing that hurts them is strength of schedule due to their conference games. It's nothing against them personally but that's what happens when you want the committee to make the SOS of a team to matter. Now you can take out strength of schedule and that would help group of 5 teams but that would just make Power 5 schools to schedule more out of conference scrubs or have an independent schedule a bunch of FCS and bottomfeeding FBS schools just do go undefeated and say they deserve a shot at the playoffs just for being undefeated
I moved to Conway from Pennsylvania I was a penn state fan all my life. I am now after 2 years here a huge Chants fan. My son and I went to our first football game together it was the chants the energy surrounding this team is amazing. My son plays aau football as a qb and Grayson McCall inspired him. Maybe one day my son will be a hometown hero GO CHANTS
As a Florida gators fan I love seeing teams like coastal Carolina and Marshall begin to have a bright future it finally brings some variety to the sport that is heavily dominated by the top schools like the Alabama’s and Ohio states I feel like finally college football is heading towards a bright future and I can’t wait to see what these smaller schools can do and how they can fair against tougher comp
Coastal has been a joy to watch this year. The Sun Belt is the most underrated and exciting FBS conference out there. The '19 App State team might arguably have been the Belt's best recent team, but no doubt this year's Beach Chicken squad is having a magical season, hopefully NY6 bound! Congrats on a great video. I started at Coastal in 2002. Remember our first ever game. My neighbor for 3 years was Quinton Teal he ended up playing for the Chargers and Panthers. Dustin Johnson was in my class too had a few classes with him and he is one of the best golfers in the world. We have had a great baseball team they won the college world series just a few years ago. School looks a bit different now then when I graduated almost 16 years ago. Still live here in Myrtle Beach.
They are being pretty surprising in 2021 as well, so they must be doing something right. Meanwhile, Chris Petersen seemingly has quit coaching in college football and I also miss when he was coaching Boise State because that team was on fire when he was leading that team.
I’ve played for several coaches on different levels. Chadwell is by far the smartest and most deserving of them all. That spread option is hard to game plan for. And Staggs will always have an amazing Defense.
Crazy to think I live 10 minutes away from CCU and have drove past the field of a top 15 team multiple times. Although I am a Clemson fan, love to see a local college succeed and I hope they get a top 10 ranking this year.

Clemson alumnus and Conway native and resident here, and proud of my hometown boys. The Chants are bringing it this year. Point of mild embarrassment, the "stray cat" at the beginning of the story about Coach Bennett's interview that pretty much lead to his being replaced.... that wasn't a stray. My parents were his neighbor, it was one of my mom's cats. They are retired and have too d@*n many of them, and most of them roam the neighborhood. And now I have to live knowing it was one of my mom's cats that inspired the story that unfortunately made Coach B famous. Hated to see him lose his job, he was and is a great guy, and that story was just his personality coming out. He's very animated, and a very funny, down-to-earth guy.
Missing from the early history section of the video: in 1959, leadership of the school changed from College of Charleston to the University of South Carolina. The choice of the Chanticleer mascot was made to reflect the relationship with it's new parent institution and its athletic mascot, the Gamecock. When CCU became independent it chose to retain the Chanticleer after initial calls for a new mascot to reflect the end of the connection to USC.
Tbh this season I have enjoyed watching more group of 5 games ever before and I strongly believe that group of 5 should do a there own playoff for teams like them and Marshall and BYU and Cincinnati could get recognized for the great season
It's 12/12/20, and CCU just pulled off a clutch game-winning drive after Troy had taken the lead with under two minutes to go. I won't call that McCall guy first-round Draft pick material just yet, but he's all right.
The Sun Belt is on par with the P5 schools. The recent success of Coastal, App State, and Louisiana puts them right up there with the best in the FBS and the conference games are some of the most entertaining in all of college football. I see them overtaking the ACC in terms of total team strength within the next five seasons.
Think they deserve a NY6 bowl. While it is unlikely, I think they could be a 2nd or even 3rd GO5 team in the NY6, if things break right. Would love to see them against a Georgia or a Miami Fl in the Peach or Fiesta Bowl. As a South Carolinian, go Chants!

Yup their baseball team is actually really good on a consistent basis. Coastal Carolina is a pretty damn good place for athletics
