Great, wide-ranging review of a Harley Benton that I had been watching. Thanks for not being a guitar snob!!
I love the philosophical, “What is a guitar?” Would love to see a video on that entire question!

Thanks for your comment. So true, snobbery of headstock brands inspires no one except those that can afford long established top level pricing. Nowadays $200 can deliver much more of a player experience than $200, 40 years ago. I’ll make a note regarding a segment on the question, “What is a guitar?” Thanks for watching . T

Thank you for this review. Were the fret edges well polished out of the box?

Thanks for your question. On this model of the ST-20 SBK, it did have some fret sprout however that was easily addressed. Later I would give it a fret polishing and the guitar came to life. keep in mind this Harley Benton model is an entry level, beginner type, affordable as hell and still worth the money.

I subscribed. A year ago, I bought exactly the same guitar. I say nothing about the sound. It is ok. The Harley Benton ST-57DG Black Tribute I bought in 2018, I sent back straight away. Unplayable. High frets, nasal sound etc. This one I decided to work on. All Harley Bentons who passed my hands, needed a major fret level job to make it even playable with a reasonable action. I even morphed tis one in a David Gilmour Strat later. Bought a HB maple neck, which also had uneven frets. That was the 4th time.
See what a work I had with the Harley Benton ST20 HSS SBK: ruclips.net/video/KlkwiJQpScE/видео.htmlsi=MLe4g6NdeYSkSUji

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. On certain models of Harley Benton’s such as the lowest cost guitars it’s not surprising to have an issue that may require a little finishing such as fret leveling or dealing with fret sprout. These kind of issues exist in high priced Gibsons as well. I guess that where they cut costs. Leaving the finishing for the end user. I have three HB ST62’s and love them way more than guitars costing twice the price or more. I consider this model a great base for a guitar player to make modifications. At this price it kind of inspires one to tinker including maintaining their instruments. Learning a little filing and sanding skills never hurt. It’s not my favorite HB model however I’m not worried feeding it to my nephews and nieces when they come to visit.
