Tears streaking down my face I just sat there, eyes closed, letting the emotions hit me, wave after wave. Playing a remake of a game that was once considered the newest installment of a series is... I don't know how to put into words. It's not just nostalgia, it also comes with a rather mystic sense of passage of time. Eterna forest was one of my favourite places back when I first played Pokemon diamond, and large part of it was because of was its music. Needless to say when I first got to the forest in PLA I was completely awestruck. For a brief moment I could relive that moment when I first got into Eterna forest. Gen 4 will always have a special place in my heart, and I thank Gamefreak immensly for this amazing remake.
This literally is exactly what it was like for me. When I had Diamond, I used to just stand in Eterna forest or the Pokémon league and listen to the music before bed. So when this hit, I instantly knew that I’d always love this game

This really made me feel like I was venturing into the Eterna Forest of the past and brought back so many good memories. This game is so perfect for people who grew up on gen 4. Pokemon Platinum was my first ever pokemon game and Legends Arceus is even better than everything I hoped it would be.
@@nikyf.3767 The story doesn't matter, it's the same region, the same pokemon, the same characters (with other names and different design, but the same characters) all of that is nostalgia
Okay I heard this on stream last night, and at first I was like telling my viewers "That piano sounds a bit like Eterna Forest" and I kept hearing it but it turned into an original song. Then it got quiet, and BOOM. It turned into the Eterna Forest theme and I just got quiet. This game is just WOW. Especially the OST.
We’ve had two great renditions of this theme in just a few months. The atmosphere of hearing this whilst walking through The Heartwood is just amazing.
It's... a special, unique feeling. Knowing something for years upon years. Being familiar with it, and knowing it so well. Being so well acquainted... And then getting to introduce yourself to it. All over again. For the very first time.
The day Diamond came out I made it to Eterna Forest, falling asleep under the covers with my earbuds in and this theme playing. It's not the best Pokemon game, and other ones have better overall soundtracks IMO, but its environment themes are unmatched. This, the Lakes, and Mt Coronet's theme help that game really feel like a proper journey. All that helped me get through the end of a pretty shitty school year. I stopped playing Pokemon between X/Y and Sun/Moon since I didn't like X and got fed up with my 13th Pokemon tutorial starting Moon... It was disappointing, since it was my favorite series before that. But I saw people really praising PLA, so I gave it a try. I was cautiously enjoying the game, but the second I recognized that piano riff it broke me and swept me back to 2006. Pokemon music is always good, but what a brilliant way to tell you where you are, and what an excellent fucking experience this whole game is. I hope Scarlet/Violet have as much love poured in.
I remember calling my wife in my room and asking her "isnt this the forest ost from diamond and pearl?" And we just stood there in silence for a minute soaking in the atmosphere. This is a masterpiece for everyone who is nostalgic to D/P
Hearing this come on going to meet Lian and noticing it had the Eterna Forest leitmotif was such a pleasant surprise. Instantly made my chest tight with nostalgia for D/P/P and its legendary soundtrack.
Gen 4 was my favorite. I was 9-10 at the time and eterna forest was also one of my favorite themes. I remember entering the forest in PLA and the music started playing and i was like what this feels familiar and then boom it hit me. It hit really hard for some reason that I can’t not explain!? I’m 25 and I actually tear up for some reason. Idk I felt like a kid again. I’m going through a lot in life, I’m struggling with my mom but idk I guess this lifted me and made me release my emotions. It’s so fucking beautiful!
The Music is a huge highlight. The entire game is absolutely stunning. And deserves its place in my opinion up at the top. Its just so good. I havent been able to put it down. Haven't felt like this about a pokemon game since Gen 5. 6 was great but too easy, 7 was very boring in my opinion. 8 is very good but just missed the charm this game has. This in my opinion is the true Gen 4 remake. I'll put BDSP to one side now and probably not touch it until the mythics are released for it.
The thing about this song is that it brings emotions out of you. I never played the Diamond and Pearl games however this song seems so magical and nostalgic even when it’s all knew to me. It makes me wanna cry this song it’s so beautiful
Literally made me almost tear up. That opening part really makes you feel like you're going back to the wonders of your childhood. Then the piano drops and perfection
Imagine going back to the past & see the way it used to be at night time and now it's not the same for over thousands of years, for what it looks like now. That's what I think about when I listen to this song
This game use essentially emulating the feeling you probably had when you first played Gen IV as a kid. They can’t wipe Sinnoh from your head but they can make it new and exciting like you’re experiencing for the first time
Havent play PLA yet but... This picture, this theme song... So peaceful, calm and beautiful. I can feel myself back in the ancient Eterna Forest. No skyscraper, no car sound, no plane up above the sky. Just bird chirping and bug whispering over this view of mountain and sky, wearing traditional clothes and staying in a house of wood with lil Rowlet and Cyndaquil.
I love the arrangement the song has, especially it's slow beginning up before it catches you. It feels like booting up an ancient Porygon that has testified of this period
I haven't played Diamond / Pearl (sadly) but when I heard 0:40 while playing, I knew it must be the Eterna forest theme and it's felt nostalgic and sad as if I played DP before
The music in this game is the best music i've ever heard in a pokemon game. the fact that in some areas you only get to hear the original theme once you finish the game is amazing, because not only are you acomplishing somthing awesome but it fits the theme of the story of legends arceus. This game has its flaws, but it really is next stage in the evolution of pokemon games ... or at least it should be
After hearing how horrible my brother was when having to recover from surgery, he always thanked the OG Eterna forest theme for helping him sleep whenever he listened to it. Now whenever he listens to this he tears up sometimes.
this made me cry the first time i heard it playing in arceus. i never played pokemon diamond or pearl as a kid, but i remember hearing it in those old eeveelution squad comic dubs as a kid. it's like meeting up with an old friend again.
The Teal Mask has become very special for me. First, it is based on Kyoto, where I lived during a time and had wonderful experiences. Second, hearing this gives me such a nostalgic feel since, for some reason, it brings memories from that time in Kyoto and I used to just let the music play on Legends Arceus when I walked in Eterna Forest, I closed my eyes and remembered my days in Japan. Now, after I heard this while going to the Timeless Woods for the first time...I couldn't stop smiling with that nostalgic feeling again.

A timestamp for myself. 3:31 First proper Pokémon games for me were Ruby/Diamond on my pink DS. Had the VCR tapes for the Kanto and Johto anime, as well as the first movie. The DP series was airing on Cartoon Network. I couldn't even read. Loved it.
To think that, years later, a random Ursaring would eat a Peat Block on a bloodied full-moon on the island of Kitakami. Such a cool way to call back to Pokemon of the past (in terms of timeline, not actual real-world time.) I also liked that Perrin was with us just like Adaman. Very fun.
The nostalgia…the romantic feeling that brews from it. I love it so much. PLA is gonna be an extremely nostalgic joyride years down the road because of themes like this ❤

It’s the mysticism like this that draws me to Pokemon in general because where you stand for this theme to play will be the place your memories are made and you won’t remember it until 1000 years from now
That one moment when set I foot in the forest and almost cried from the music alone😍😅 Edit: Was watching RT Game play Brilliant Diamond when he read a sign in the ruins: "All lives touch other lives to create something anew and alive". Then it hit me, the makers of Legends: Arceus put SO much care into the game, that's just an extreme amount of attention to detail and I honestly got shivers just seeing that Unown writing...
I still remember when I first bought this game. I had brought it to my friend's house and we played through the first area of the game together. I was walking around, and finally worked my way over to The Heartwood. When I heard the first few notes of the Eterna theme, I was just completely floored. I stopped everything and just... listened. I was spellbound. I'm glad they found a way to bring my childhood back around so effectively.
I honestly wasn't a huge nostalgia believer, as I figured you really felt it when you played, and wished for it to happen again. This song really hit that spot for me. I actually teared up hearing this theme. Just unbelievable work by the creator.
You wander into a forest, not knowing what lies ahead. New Pokemon? Strong Pokemon? New mysteries to discover? But then... that piano. That damn piano. You know exactly what lies ahead. And you feel nothing but elation.

I used to tell her about the game lore and my progress I used to make her listen to this song too beacause it’s so calm gentle and beautiful, like her It was such a childish thing but I was really happy, we would talk about anything and play Everything was so perfect Damn I miss her

To this day X is my favorite Pokémon Game and because of it I took some steps back and played Black, Black 2 and Diamond. However... Diamond didn't really got me. It felt odd and slow. I eventually sold it and got Platin because I've been told it's better. I have yet to play it. :^) But one thing I do remember is walking through Eterna Forest and listening to it's absolutely amazing theme. I've never gotten far in the Game. (I think I lost interest when I was at the Water Arena)
But the little I remember from playing Diamond and Platin is this music. Even I get Nostalgia Goosebumps.
When I could pick out Eterna City and Forest pieces, I was incredibly emotional. The theme was gorgeous. Then the main melody hit, and I just cried. This was when everything for the game clicked for me. It’s a magic I’d not felt from this series since the move to switch
What part do you hear Eterna city?
I'd love to know the Eterna City part, too, if you remember, please! ^^ That'd be really cool to know, and would make this song feel even more special, in my opinion! No worries if you can't remember or something, of course ^^
@@jellycore1316 Hey there, sorry for the long long bump, but I'd say around 2:20 reminds me of City a bit? That was the part that made me start going "Woah, they're not wrong".
i need to play this
i actually fucking got chills when the melody dropped
Same. Man, Pokemon music really has a way of having nostalgia hit you like a truck. It adds layers to the song so newcomers to Pokemon can enjoy relaxing music and og’s can be slapped in the face with nostalgia.
Really cool in the SV DLC: The Teal Mask, this music is used again in the Timeless Woods when doing a survey for Perrin, Adaman’s Descendent!
She's his ancestor, but yeah I agree
@@GioGospelGamerOfficialshes his descendant nitwit
@@GioGospelGamerOfficial Other way around!
Lol remake?
*prequel, sorry had to be that guy lol.
@@pokespartytv8086 It deserves more that title than BDSP
This literally is exactly what it was like for me. When I had Diamond, I used to just stand in Eterna forest or the Pokémon league and listen to the music before bed. So when this hit, I instantly knew that I’d always love this game
@@silverbolt9439 more like a sequel, our character was chosen by Arceus himself, soo they aren't a new trainer, Arceus know the power our character have after he stopped the Gods and the Demon from destroying the world
As a kid I spent hours in Eterna forest and Eterna City. Hearing this theme entering the heartwoods at first...well that wholly original theme had me tear up.
The Eterna Forest music proper though...not afraid to admit it, I fucking cried. It’s like I just suddenly became six again. Grandma was still alive, my friend group wasn’t in tatters, I hadn’t experienced more death than a gravedigger...god it’s like my soul was just restored for a few seconds. Just completely. I’ll continue to give nintendo crap when they deserve it but this...this was something truly special.
@@nefer-trebeledfomp-4129 Nope, just got turned into a kid again for a bit there. Felt shocking but good, like being hugged by a mom after a really hard day.
dont forget exploring the Old Chataue trying to see those ghosts
Was so excited to hear this during Perrin's photography quest in the Teal Mask DLC in SV!
Same I had to stand there and take it in
Parts like this really makes this game feel like the actual remakes we were waiting for all these years as Sinnoh fans.
This really made me feel like I was venturing into the Eterna Forest of the past and brought back so many good memories. This game is so perfect for people who grew up on gen 4. Pokemon Platinum was my first ever pokemon game and Legends Arceus is even better than everything I hoped it would be.
Yeah is perfect for people who grew up in gen 4 because it only relies in nostalgia
@@joaquinlaroca2886 no? It's actually a cool game graphics apart, it can't rely on nostalgia, because it is another story
@@nikyf.3767 The story doesn't matter, it's the same region, the same pokemon, the same characters (with other names and different design, but the same characters) all of that is nostalgia
@@joaquinlaroca2886 if you say so, have you played it at least?
@@nikyf.3767 No, but i saw a gameplay.
Funnily enough Gen 6 was the last time playing a mainline Pokémon game felt magical to me.
I remember calling my wife in my room and asking her "isnt this the forest ost from diamond and pearl?" And we just stood there in silence for a minute soaking in the atmosphere. This is a masterpiece for everyone who is nostalgic to D/P
Awesome! I hope I find a girl that likes Pokémon
Hearing this come on going to meet Lian and noticing it had the Eterna Forest leitmotif was such a pleasant surprise. Instantly made my chest tight with nostalgia for D/P/P and its legendary soundtrack.
It's not a leitmotif
@@bencorp8236 youtube music theorists are an epidemic
This game is soo much better when you recognise the music from diamond/pearl/platinum.
Took me forever to find a Cherubi in the Heartwood but hearing this theme over and over was well worth it. Non-stop feels.
I found a SHINY buneray. I have yet to find Cherubi.
Aren’t they in the shaking trees?
@@cherryparadox yup, and the only way to find one
The chances of finding a shaking tree to be a cherubi are low
I never realized it was rare until I found out, I got it so easily lol
I found one, it transformed and it became uncatchable (a bug in early versions of the game) hahaha
I love how the nostalgic themes seem to "getting born", like jubilife or this one
Felt very nostalgic when it played in the SV DLC..
They are
Its crazy how nostalgic i felt hearing this and other pla themes in the teal mask
Immediately recognized it after hearing it and then came here to listen to it all over again.
Sauce?
The thing about this song is that it brings emotions out of you. I never played the Diamond and Pearl games however this song seems so magical and nostalgic even when it’s all knew to me. It makes me wanna cry this song it’s so beautiful
Did not expect to hear this in the scarlet dlc
Literally made me almost tear up. That opening part really makes you feel like you're going back to the wonders of your childhood. Then the piano drops and perfection
Imagine going back to the past & see the way it used to be at night time and now it's not the same for over thousands of years, for what it looks like now.
That's what I think about when I listen to this song
shoutout to scarlet and violet for reusing this in the coolest sequence of the dlc
I SHED A TEAR HEARING THIS IN THE SV DLC
They put this in the Scarlet and Violet DLC!
Game freak really out here hitting us with the slowed and reverbed version of Eterna Forest 😭
I love the arrangement the song has, especially it's slow beginning up before it catches you. It feels like booting up an ancient Porygon that has testified of this period
I think this is so much better than BDSP! Bringing in the new while keeping the best old. This game truly is a masterpiece.
This game has its flaws, but it really is next stage in the evolution of pokemon games ... or at least it should be
When I first heard 0:44 I started to cry and my heart melted
took me a half hour to finish the photography quest in the dlc just because of the music
After hearing how horrible my brother was when having to recover from surgery, he always thanked the OG Eterna forest theme for helping him sleep whenever he listened to it.
Now whenever he listens to this he tears up sometimes.
This really gives me so many vibes of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. And I mean the sad and emotional moments within the games.
Youre right! It does sound like mystery dungeon!
Bruh I can't believe this is in The Teal Mask.
Bro im listening to this and im trying not to cry this is so fucking beautiful
Pokémon platinum was the first video game I ever owned, this really hit.
Music in this game is fantastic, too bad Pokemon Aggro theme interrupts so often .
this made me cry the first time i heard it playing in arceus. i never played pokemon diamond or pearl as a kid, but i remember hearing it in those old eeveelution squad comic dubs as a kid. it's like meeting up with an old friend again.
0:07 idk what about this note does it for me but this note does it for me. so good.
Anyone here because of the Teal Mask DLC playing this in the Timeless Woods?
Oh, definitely.
this one was absolutely touched by go ichinose

Platinum is one of my all time favorite games and I went into this game completely blind at launch but having not played a new Pokemon game since sun and moon and legit almost cried when i heard Eterna forest start up lmao
I've never played a gen 4 game in full before. I grew up with gen 5 - but, still, this theme gives me nostalgia for a game I never played. Kudos.
When i got to the forest for the first time and then the Eterna Forest theme kicked in that was the moment I completely fell in love with this game. Good job GameFreak, you've managed to restore my faith in you. Let's just hope that can continue.
Not gonna lie, my eyes teared up when I heard this the first time. Legends Arceus is such a perfect love letter to the fans of gen 4. They really carefully recreated Sinnoh perfectly in a new way. Everything was recognisable.
Here after hearing it in the scarlet and violet dlc
3:31 play it at 1.25x speed for the true nostalgia
It is exact the same as Diamond and Pearl.
That's so cool!
@@boychinwonder I know right. I was listening this for an hour straight thinking about not only my memories of Diamond and Pearl but also my whole childhood. Being proud of the man I become.
I mean...the Eterna Forest Soundtrack from BDSP was great and all.
But this is another Level. Love it.
Eterna forest is one of my all time favourite Pokémon songs.
There is something that hits all the right spots pure magical.
I don't even own this game, but just hearing Eterna forest like this, even the first half of the track.
Not only did i get a nostalgia attack.
It legit felt like I went back in time @ around 0:36 in this absolutely beautiful tune.
Seeing myself playing Pokemon platinum, enjoying the game by myself or even with all my DS friends. (I sadly don't have contact with those friends anymore. It's been so long. it feels like eons ago, but it's only about 10 years or so back 😢)
Sometimes, I just wished i could do all of that all over again.
it hit like a truck when you play the game. We all know Eterna Forest, getting there long ago in the past. With this insanely drawn out piece that just BUILDS and BUILDS to the part we recognize. Grown man brought to tears, beautiful
when I got to the forest and this started playing, I just sat there, smiling and staring blankly for a couple minutes. Nostalgia hits hard, man.
3:31 that pierced my soul
Oh my God, Gen 4 still got the music.
A timestamp for myself. 3:31
First proper Pokémon games for me were Ruby/Diamond on my pink DS.
Very fun.
I was so stoked to hear the Eterna Forest theme in this game. It's such a wonderful callback.
They brought this back for the Scarlet & Violet DLC
The nostalgia…the romantic feeling that brews from it. I love it so much. PLA is gonna be an extremely nostalgic joyride years down the road because of themes like this ❤
Love coming back to this video and reading the comments. Its like they open up a window to their life and let me experience first hand on how they felt playing this game while getting reminded of their childhood memories playing the originals. But the crazy part to me is even tho were not the same person and its not the same pokemon game i grew up wit i still felt connected to these people, i felt the same way yall did at one point. While u guys set yal first adventure in the sinnoh region i started mine in the unova region. Hope one day im able to share my adventure with u guys. I promise its as beautiful as yours❤️
Same, its also so awesome hearing so meny had the same experience with this song as I did first hearing it!
This never fails to make me cry
I cried hearing this the first time
This is a beautiful track. It brought me to tears. It just proves gen 4 is amazing, and so is Arceus.
Legit started crying
Same bro.
I recognized IMMEDIATELY this iconic piece of my childhood when I was playing
My ex gifted me this game.
I used to tell her about the game lore and my progress
I used to make her listen to this song too beacause it’s so calm gentle and beautiful, like her
It was such a childish thing but I was really happy, we would talk about anything and play
Everything was so perfect
Damn I miss her
This gave me the same feeling I got when hearing Gwyn's piano during Soul of Cinder, Lower Brinstar in Torvus Bog, or Zelda's main theme in Breath of the Wild's Castle
Omfg bro the sinking realization that made me think “wait, this is eterna forest” was what got me to just put the game down so the music didn’t get interrupted anymore
Grateful for pokemon for all its great music it has shown me since i was a kid
Had to pause to really take this ost in and damn my heart
