I understand that crimped barbs are better than barbless hooks generally in fishing. Barbless hooks are easier to remove, but they tear more than a barbed hook in the fight, whereas of course the barbed hook is harder to remove. A crimped barb won't tear the mouth and is easier to remove.

I am much confused. I thought pinks only ran on odd years? Just moved to the Island so don’t know what’s what yet…when was this footage taken?

I've only started fishing in the Campbell River three years ago, but it seems the pinks are always there, due to the hatchery. Some years there are more pinks, but there always seems to be plenty around. This footage was taken a few weeks ago in August.
