This is great information not only for Houston but for those of us who live in the tropics(Bahamas for me). We have the same seasons you mentioned. A bit more humid in summer but same idea. Thanks so much🍅
Grew massive sunflowers this year in June, they were beautiful. I also pinched the bolts off my basil and it went from March-December this year! I love our great growing weather!
Thank you for this video! I'm moving from Missouri to Houston for work and I already planted here. Really needed to see what plants I should give away and which I should take. This was so Helpful!!!
sorry to be so off topic but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost the password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Casey Jaxtyn I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
So true for more than just Houston too. I left my tomatoes to struggle all summer and look horrid, and now they are putting on new green vines, tons of blossoms and another round of fruit in September.
That’s a unique way to explain the Houston weather and climate, one thing is for sure,we don’t experience extreme winter here, with the exception of February 1921.👍
Listen to your video . When you say Kitchen Garden is this a indoor growing ? Or is it what you use in your Kitchen .I am new to you RUclips but at 73 yrs old I am not new to garding . A NY transplant to Houston many yrs ago.
Very true, but I would say that from late March and April here in Houston we have nice Mediterranean weather, then from May an June we have soft hot summer with a few cool nights here and there follow by hot day and the cool nights again. Then July hot but dry summer. And then is the true Houston summer, super humid weeks followed by days and days of rain, with a dry month spell here or there and repeat or mix and customize...😂😂😂😂
I live in SA. Have you tried growing lettuce indoors starting in April. I have romaine growing from the bottom 2 inches ,in water for now, from a cut up store bought romaine stalk in water. Will it continue to grow if I transfer it to a pot and keep it indoors by the East to West windows ?

You made me feel 100x better about living and surviving this Houston heat! 😂😮💨
I live in Houston too. My garden is finally starting to look good. I’m growing so many vegetables.
This is so perfect. It took me 2 years to realize these things. But the way you explain it is just dead on perfect! 💕
Good info...I like the way you’ve labeled Houston’s “4 Seasons”!😊
Game changer, most people aren't familiar with the heat, pest, and humid pressure here. Signing up!
Rewatching. This is helpful for me right now. I have a lot of bare soil that I need to get something planted in!
I’m just getting started around my yard as well. Godspeed.

This is exactly what I need. I started cooler crops in October in Texas and they’re not loving these peak 80 days.

Awesome👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Love how you broke this down, especially for a beginner, I’m in Beaumont, Texas 😊. Thank you so much!!!
This makes so much sense. North Texas and not much different here.
Thank you for the info..... You just made me realize how late I started planting.
Thanks for all valuable information

So for the veggies you mention, we should sow the seed at the beginning of the appropriate season? Or prior to the start of the season?

Very helpful 👌
I'm looking forward to retiring in the Houston area. Currently in Minnesota with a short zone 4b growing season!
I am located near Waco. Is there a huge difference between the 2 places climate?
Thank you for this informative video
How do you handle the crazy rain storms. Won’t it damage your garden
That's one major advantage of raised beds
great info, thanks! i can't help but notice there were actually 5 seasons mentioned 😅
Houston tends to have the same type of climate. I love it when it’s not hot!
Good video 👍
Right now I have a ton of tomatoes. They just aren’t turning red. They are under plastic with a heater. Lows are in the low 40s and high up to 70s.

Are these planting from transplants or from seeds?
I live in central Texas.. are the seasons the same? Or is the weather too different?

It should if it has good roots and you really baby it during the transition. I have a video on romaine, btw. It might help!

This year we have, mild, 100+, still 100+, and not 100 anymore.
Don't forget spinach!
Consider Lemons, limes or small oranges in pots. Works great in this area 😂😂 not inspired by anything but plants
Very chatty, was looking for more, item and dates. Thank you anyway.
This video needs an update, it’s the beginning of cool season and it’s the middle of December ….
