Not only Tampines residents shop around there. Residents from around Tampines like Bedok Reservoir, Simei, Pasir Ris, Changi..literally the East siders. It can just like 6 to 15mins away by train or bus. Also you went during Sunday hence the crowd. Dian Xiao Er perhaps most people knows of it. It is quite a common chain restaurant in a sense (but not cheap). A lot of Singaporeans drop by JB for the same herbal duck lol Tampines One recently had a renovation.
One thing about living just next door to Tampines, Tampines Mall, Tampines One, White Sands and Pasir Ris Mall make it such that you never really need to go into Orchard cause you have most everything within reach.
Hjh=Hajah (woman) Hj=Haji (man) It’s the salutation given to Muslim woman and man who has done their pilgrimage to Mecca. So Hjh Maimunah is the name of the lady owner who has done her pilgrimage. Hope this kind of explain the meaning oh HJH or HJ
Tampines shopping is a no brainer. Better than bedok or pasir ris central. These trio malls can't go wrong anything you need plus the heartland shops fringing the outskirts. Even 201 or round market hawker can get you better budget meals. Tampines hub more like a community centre. Of course still can get meal shops too but not as good as trio malls in the central. Walking distance from bus interchange
