I thought Jorge Masvidal won. But this is what sucks about boxing is it depends on what the scorekeepers were looking at and obviously they were looking at pressure and volume. I had Masvidal 9-1 just cause Nate landed with nothing while taking big shots. Told a friend I'd make the scoring 7-3 for Masvidal just to account for home field advantage and possible bad judges. And anybody trying to tell me Nate landed over 100 power punches, I'd look at you like you're crazy. Surely you don't know what a power punch is.
I was surprised that the volume favored Jorge. It felt like Nate was throwing and landing more, but to your point, some of them were open palmed hits. It doesn’t look like they counted those in the numbers. If the judges don’t have access to these stats, then they’re just going by what they see. It seemed like Jorge was throwing harder shots but Nate was rolling with several of them, hence why he wasn’t all cut up like he usually gets. Some of those rounds which were tossups likely went to Nate because he was continuing to press forward most of the time and had him up against the ropes several times. Not great optics when judging imo. I’m not saying it’s right… just offering a guess 🤷🏻♀️

Usually that’s how I would judge a fight but in this case I felt like it was a little different. Nate applied constant pressure hitting him with smaller slappy shots, while masvidal was loading bigger power shots. I think I would have been more inclined to yell robbery if masvidals shots hurt. It never felt like Nate was in real danger or got significantly hurt by anything. His scar tissue didn’t even split lol. I could have seen masvidal winning but it was a close fight. For a sport with pretty clear and objective judging criteria, judges make it look pretty subjective and difficult at times. Effective aggression, hard and clean punches, ring generalship and defence. With all the camera angles, better than front row seats and live data you’d think scoring a fight wouldn’t end in wild scorecards that don’t reflect the fight.

If it's a close fight, and is scored as a close fight, it is not a robbery no matter who wins. When it's scored as an overwhelming victory for the guy that most likely lost in a close fight I'm going to still call that a robbery.

Sometimes I genuinely think that judges score based on how well a fighter is taking shots to the face and they don't focus on who's hitting their opponent more or who's getting hit less. Yea this one I’m gonna have to disagree with you, Masvidal was saying he would Ko Nate and he KNOWS he has more pop and power than Nate Diaz but Nate’s smothering punches neutralized Jorge and only at the very end of every round Masvidal would try to steal the rounds by throwing all his combinations at the last moment. He was gun shy and if he had any boxing iq he could’ve easily countered off of Nate’s combos that he was throwing in the same rhythm.

You also right Jorge is the best to transition and also the one with more room to improve even considering his age..If he wants to put 2 3 4 good events of boxing he can do it...There's a few more details about basic fundamentals that he can get better , motion of feet to hip and hip to shoulder that he can get better and transition better his power to shots defensive and offensive..He also hes the guy that you saw with less problems throwing shots in boxing at the beginning it seemed off but i guess was due to being tense usually you see mma guys throwing akward no pop punches and around 2 3 round have no skill or pop Jorge was in the 5 7 9 round throwing well placed power combos for most of it.If he gets better at some fundamentals focus in boxing for 2 3 years more as second nature he also is not in there thinking about getting tired.
It was no robbery, people seem to mistake getting your brain pounded through a high guard as good defence, you cant sit there the entire fight and let the other guy pound on your guard, even if you land a few counters here and there, you’re still being a punching bag the whole fight.
I think some People even the judges need to understand control the center of the ring and dictate its pace and how the adversary fights your fight is another different thing.. Nate 100% kept momentum through entire fight. Outpunching Masvidal consistently even if it didnt have the “pop” that some of jorge’s shot had, those were far and few in comparison to the output from nate. Not to mention, masvidal got walked all 10 rounds.

For a sport with pretty clear and objective judging criteria, judges make it look pretty subjective and difficult at times.
Effective aggression, hard and clean punches, ring generalship and defence.
With all the camera angles, better than front row seats and live data you’d think scoring a fight wouldn’t end in wild scorecards that don’t reflect the fight.

Yeah Masvidal won the fight, landed by far the more damage, hard precise shots to head and body
i had it 6-4 masvidal but maybe i just dont know boxing as im an mma guy, masvidal did more damage and landed the bigger shots while nate had a lot of slappy low impact strikes that werent even jabs or hooks just straight up slaps and i dont know how they score but it was crazy to me that had won rounds

If it's a close fight, and is scored as a close fight, it is not a robbery no matter who wins. When it's scored as an overwhelming victory for the guy that most likely lost in a close fight I'm going to still call that a robbery.
Jorge definitely won. Stats prove and volume punching is a joke. Nate threw more yet landed less. Volume should be considered the last option to Judge a fight. I guess hitting gloves and to the arms would win you fights now.
Close fights are not robberies. Robberies are when a fight OBVIOUSLY won but didn’t get the nod.

Sometimes I genuinely think that judges score based on how well a fighter is taking shots to the face and they don't focus on who's hitting their opponent more or who's getting hit less. It makes absolutely no sense Lmao. Boxing should not be about who's tougher, it should simply be about who's landing more cleanly and who's landing with more power.

Robbery? 😂 Dude u have the privilege of instant replay and also U in a sport that's considered an appreciation sport. Judging isn't the same as Olympic style boxing a judge has their way of evaluating what is considered more important in a fight.

Some value how flashy U look
Others value that u always go forward
Some value the last 30 seconds of a round.

Nothing you said made any sense. The scoring system isn’t subjective, judges are. The scoring system favors Jorge in every category outside of pressure. The lowest level of scoring criteria

Yea this one I’m gonna have to disagree with you, Masvidal was saying he would Ko Nate and he KNOWS he has more pop and power than Nate Diaz but Nate’s smothering punches neutralized Jorge and only at the very end of every round Masvidal would try to steal the rounds by throwing all his combinations at the last moment. He was gun shy and if he had any boxing iq he could’ve easily countered off of Nate’s combos that he was throwing in the same rhythm.

Great breakdown. It was a very good fight. Even mma guru and mma weasel said masivdal won. Masivdal looked very good at 39. Nate is tough but masivdal out skilled him. Im glad both got payed well.

I was there in person and agree with all your points. Crowd was going crazy for Nates punches but the were not powerful or landing clean like Jorge. Jorge got robbed.

Agreed, it feels like they just gave it to nate because he seemed less gassed out. Feels like masvidal had to put way more work and effort into it. Seemed like he won most the rounds tho and was hitting harder

You also right Jorge is the best to transition and also the one with more room to improve even considering his age..If he wants to put 2 3 4 good events of boxing he can do it...There's a few more details about basic fundamentals that he can get better , motion of feet to hip and hip to shoulder that he can get better and transition better his power to shots defensive and offensive..He also hes the guy that you saw with less problems throwing shots in boxing at the beginning it seemed off but i guess was due to being tense usually you see mma guys throwing akward no pop punches and around 2 3 round have no skill or pop Jorge was in the 5 7 9 round throwing well placed power combos for most of it.If he gets better at some fundamentals focus in boxing for 2 3 years more as second nature he also is not in there thinking about getting tired.

It was no robbery, people seem to mistake getting your brain pounded through a high guard as good defence, you cant sit there the entire fight and let the other guy pound on your guard, even if you land a few counters here and there, you’re still being a punching bag the whole fight.

I think some People even the judges need to understand control the center of the ring and dictate its pace and how the adversary fights your fight is another different thing..
Masvidal did and proved once again that the 2 fights against Nate he has more skill IQ in fighting sports..Some of these rounds Masvidal is throwing at the same speed evading blocking Nates punches also lands more and also sometimes the guy backing up is leading the dance ...And im not even trying to argue about the decision ..Its fighting but man some People 🤣🤦

I thought both guys executed their game plans. Longtime fan of both guys. I can see 6-4 either way. Respect to both warriors for a nice performance, close fight no matter who you were going for. Not a robbery in my book.

I wouldn't say robbery but it was closer than the judges had it. But I did think Diaz won because he was walking forward and it looked like he could keep up at that pace all day. I wanna see both box again even if its not against each other.
