That looks like an interesting project. I have always wondered if adhesive vinyl could be used to cover more than a table top. I cover cardboard with clear vinyl and use it for my craft mat. 😁
Looks great! Were the small spots on the top drawer from bubbles? Flaws in the wood? Was this a special heavy duty contact paper or just regular? I would be concerned about it tearing too easily. I have a hutch that was one of those press board kits. Most of it has a white laminate that is very durable. Some parts, not so much. Thanks for sharing. 😊❤️
I’ve used marble contact paper to cover my dark brown desktop. Made a huge difference. Have also used contact paper on canvases to create my own wall art.
I have a lovely three-door wardrobe with two dark purple doors. They fit my last house bedroom fine because the room was so big, but in my new house the bedroom is too small to take the dark colour. So I reviewed my options and decided to try contact paper. I bought two rolls off of Amazon of white marble. I was a bit nervous but it took a few mins per door and was super easy, and they look amazing, you'd never know from looking at the front that it wasn't its original finish. I intend to do this to other furniture, much cheaper than replacing what you have already.
@@TheCraftyOrganizer still working one it but should be done today. I am having an issue with the contact paper sticking to the wood when I wrap it to the back. Any suggestions?
OMG it took you this long! My best desk had been two white file cabinets with a door in top. Perfect, beyond perfect. Lots of room to put things on. I contacted paper the door. I kept the door knob hole for my pc wires. I had a need to be creative. I bought the best contact/wallpaper paper wood grain. I did two book cases. Wowza! Worth every penny and every minute to do it. Completely changed the look. I need to do this to my file cabinet yoo.
This is remarkably good-looking! I was going to change my refrigerator color to something lighter in color, I thought about painting, so I also know about spray paint price increases, I will go with the contact paper also, which I have had on hand for some time from Amazon. Thanks for all of the hints, gave me more confidence!
I love the Re-Store!!! I’ve gotten so many good finds and saved so much money- while supporting a great cause - win - win. Those cabinets look great - got my mind thinking of some places I can update with this technique
Wow! I love this idea. I have a metal file cabinet I was planning on painting using Debi’s DIY Paint. It is an all natural, no prep paint but now I can use the paint on something else and use some contact paper from The Dollar Tree. I can’t wait to get this done. Thank you
This is so awesome! I have those exact same filing cabinets😮 I am also been considering contact paper and was intimidated by all the different sizes increases. But after watching you, I am not intimidated anymore. Thank you so much 🌸
I had two of the very same file cabinets. I donated them many years ago. Seeing your cabinets brought back memories. Now, wouldn't it be funny if you had my cabinets!
I just covered all our cabinets at our hunting cabin with contact paper. I'm hoping the difference in heat and cold doesn't cause it to fall off. It made a HUGE difference. It was the icky brown oak finish with so much damage, now it has the gray/brown/black barnwood look. I painted the bases black and only covered the doors and drawers.

I covered a previously painted 3-drawer chest with contact paper for use in our bathroom almost 35 years ago. We were still using it last month when we finally moved. And it still looked great. I’ve used contact to cover old linoleum counters and scarred laminate counters.

I used contact paper for the top of a bedside table I was using temporarily, which turned out to be a very long time. The paper started getting worn in places, so I wanted to do it over, but I wanted to take it all up and put down another design. What a PITA! I found the best way to take it off without damaging what was underneath (or as little as possible) was to use a hair dryer to lift one edge, then aim the dryer at the bottom of the part I was taking off, and lift carefully and slowly. It still took some finish off, so I decided to just repaint the top.
Awesome job Norrine! Absolutely beautiful & so budget friendly! As always, thank you for sharing your creativity, talent and inspiration! Stay safe, healthy and positive! God bless you and your family! 🙏❤🇺🇸😊
I have a core door on top of 2 ikea adjustable height trestle legs for my desk. I got tired of its rough surface and covered it in the dollar tree black rose contact paper. Hey, Norinne! I have done contact paper on a lot of things thru out the years. I used contact paper to cover an old moving box to store my scrapbooking paper. It matches my craft area. I am into purple and found a company to order the contact paper I wanted. Thanks for more ideas. Love your videos!
I've just redone my rental's kitchen with butcher's block wood effect contact paper. It looks amazing. I cut it roughly to shape first with 2cm extra all round for error. You can pull it back & readjust and I use the heel of my hand to get it smooth. As long as you do bit by bit , peeling the backing off as you go, it's easy.

Thank you, Patricia!!!! I can't wait to show my new desk!!! Yzma is absolutely wonderful. We are so lucky that she picked us. 💜
Love this. I will try this. I love seeing your new doggie. Domino was such a big part of your life. Your new doggie is too. ❤
she really is! Domino was a one of a kind boy. We miss him - but feel like he brought Yzma to us!
Thank you for the video! Doing this for my new storage units! 😍👏🏾👏🏾
I love it! So easy to change it up when to mood strikes!
@@TheCraftyOrganizer I'll be doing my project this weekend. Can't wait to show you! ♥️
YIKES! I've had that happen on untreated wood - but usually it will just lift off!!! So sorry you had that experience!
Awesome job Norrine! Absolutely beautiful & so budget friendly! As always, thank you for sharing your creativity, talent and inspiration! Stay safe, healthy and positive! God bless you and your family! 🙏❤🇺🇸😊
🌺 xoxox Thank you, Deane!!!!
You're very welcome Norrine! ❤
Love this idea! Great job. It looks great.
I have a core door on top of 2 ikea adjustable height trestle legs for my desk. I got tired of its rough surface and covered it in the dollar tree black rose contact paper. I had to add extra tape underneath for it to stay put and overlap in some spots but I love the smoothness and prettiness of it. Your file cabinets are awesome!
Great job. Looks great.
Thank you!
for awkward areas you can use a hairdryer which cause slight shrinkage so that it moulds brilliantly xx
I will try it! I was afraid to ruin it on my file cabinet.... LOL
@@TheCraftyOrganizer i hsd similar concerns but you only hold it there for a few seconds at a time and its starts yo shring quickly so its done what it needs to before you get to a point where it would burn .. if that makes sense xx
I am so relieved that I found your channel. I lost it for a while. I don’t know how but I managed tif lose it. I kept scrolling and I was getting more upset and then lo and behold , there you were. I know you changed your name awhile back. I just couldn’t remember if. Whew!!!! All is right.
xoxoxox I'm sorry you couldn't find me!!!!! I'm glad you found me again. 💜
This was extremely helpful! Thank you soo much 🥰
Yay! Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful results!!
I refinished furniture with contact paper years ago with my first new born daughter’s used dresser. Is was t sure how it would turn out; but I could not afford new furniture. It came out surprisingly nice and lasted for a long time!
That is awesome! These turned out WAY better than I expected - and I am super proud of the cost to update them! I love that you had this awesome idea way before me! LOL I'm late for the party. 😆😘
Wow , what a great job , 👏👏👏
Thank you! 😃
Hey, Norinne! I have done contact paper on a lot of things thru out the years. I used contact paper to cover an old moving box to store my scrapbooking paper. It matches my craft area. I am into purple and found a company to order the contact paper I wanted. Thanks for more ideas. Love your videos!
I love that!!!! I think it's such an easy and affordable way to customize something!
What is the company that you use?
Looks amazing! What a great idea 😍
Brilliant!!!! Let me know how it holds up in the kitchen!!
I love this ❤️. I bought a pine bookcase some years ago which had been painted white. Over time, the wood knots have oozed through the paint and look yellow 😕. Contact paper is a clever idea 💡. Look forward to seeing your desk 🥰
Oh wow! This could work for covering that!!!!
