If you are like us and live on a small farm/homestead and have been debating whether or not to get rabbits, here's a few reasons we think you should give it a try! Tame rabbit is a very healthy and prolific source of protein that, if raised correctly, can essentially pay for themselves and then some! Learn how we make a profit from our rabbits!

    Ok, I know I'm off point here but I have to comment. I am an old television director from the old days. Your video, from my perspective is excellent! Technically it is clean, perfectly exposed, stabile and very well edited. Your use of a technique know as "cutting on action" is perfect. Examples here are when you leave a shot you walk off frame, followed by a transition dissolve to the next shot where you walk into the frame. The dissolve is a perfect transition because it "implies" a passage of time. It all moves seamlessly and is very aesthetically pleasing. I assume your husband, and my apologies for not remembering your names, is the cameraman. The stability of the video is excellent! I would think it was all on a tripod. I know that most shots, if not all were hand held but the stability, focal lengths of the lense and the exposure are definitely worthy of a professional cinematographer. Then again I also know the power of a decent iPhone. Your farm is a textbook example of order, efficiency and excellent planning. Well of course it is. There is a United States Marine in charge.

      Frank Cox wow! I’m kind of speechless.... lol. First of all thank you SO much for your very kind words about the quality of our video. It’s comments like this that make us feel good about what we’re doing and gives us encouragement to keep going. We are very much newbies to the RUclips world and with that comes so many struggles of learning to shoot different angles, how to edit videos correctly and aesthetically pleasing to our audience etc. So, I am amazed that someone who knows their stuff about editing and video quality would compliment our video! ❤️ My husband, Jacob, was indeed the camera man for this video, and he appreciates the compliment as well! Thank you again, sir, for your comment. God Bless! 🙂

      @@SawyerRidgeFarm Yes, you are definitely doing an excellent job of shooting and editing your video. I know you are taking extra time to plan it out. That is the key! Plan it out. So many times in my career I had sales agents tell the client, " Don't worry. We'll fix it in post." What!!???!! Salesmen! You have the natural instinct for this video thing. And you have the discipline for your farm. You will succeed!

    We had rabbits as kids, but not for meat. I had a large northern Cottentail that was bigger than those you raise. We got them off a farm much like yours. Our hutch was much the same with a hard wood nesting box attached to the back, wrapped on the outside by wire mesh. More to keep critters out than rabbits in. The nesting box had a false back divider that didn't go all the way to the top protecting a light bulb which was for warmth in the winter, We also had 1 on the ground so the bunny could run and eat grass etc that we moved around. My father would use the droppings in his gardens. When we built a hutch and a run for my daughter's rabbits we just built it the way we knew how. Funny to think that in nearly 40 years or more, the basic design hasn't changed much, lol

    You folks are so creative ! I am looking forward to what you come up with doing with the bunny furs. Perhaps a pillow with one side bunny fur , or a coin purse . You could sell your bunny items and cedar items and be one of the most interesting you tubers. Forget the t-shirts , everyone is doing that.Or have t-shits with a picture of a bunny under a cedar tree. Just some ideas. When will we know who won the coaster sets ? If I did not win, can I order a set of 4 coasters and 4 coasters without clear coat f(or my lingerie drawer and sweaters) . Cedar is such a nice smell and keeps moths from eating your wool sweaters in the summer . I think you need to stamp the back of the coasters with your farm or you tube logo as well.

    When you show how you made the rabbit hutches please detail the watering system. We can see the black hose coming down, but not where it comes from.

    Sorry if this question has been answered but I didn't see it in the comments but what was the stick that you put in the cages when you were feeding them for. It was in the beginning of the video. Just curious. I loved your video and it was super helpful. We've been thinking of moving to Oklahoma too and I'm so happy that people like you and Arm's Family, Dutch and others have been sharing such great videos. Thanks and have a blessed day.

      Thanks so much for watching our video! 😊 Great question! That was just a stick I used to check their watering nipples to make sure they are all good! I use that stick to poke through the cage and push down the nipple instead of opening up every single door to test it with my hands. 👍

      Thank you. That was really helpful. I enjoy your videos a lot. We are trying to homestead on one acre and only 6 laying hens and a doe silver fox rabbit as of yet. Would like to get a couple of pigs and a couple goats. Thank you for your time and hard work. God bless your everything 😇❣️🙏

    Beautiful rabbits. My uncle had a small rabbit operation on the road to the farm house. Hunters would come and pay a small fee to hunt his wooded area away from the dairy operation. Those that just wanted a day away. If they didn't actually get a rabbit, they would choose one, buy it and my uncle would process it for them to take home.

    Love rabbits...in more ways than one! We used to raise our own meat rabbits too. We had California whites, checkered giants and a few dutch chocolates. The chocolates didn't get near the size as the others though. I miss having animals. My health isn't that good anymore but I may be able to manage a few rabbits. Love the gag reel. Hope you keep putting that in. Be unique to you guys. Don't think I've seen anybody else do that. lol

    Excellent video! I’m enjoying learning your techniques, even a year later! Will be putting these to use as I progress in my rabbitry!
    Do you give tutorials on how your video, what equipment you use and your editing software too? My husband and I are just getting started on our homestead, and as “Golden Age Newbies” we thought it might encourage others of our age to keep dreaming and working towards their goals!!

    I can't grow rabbits here, but I sure would love some poo for my dirt.
    See I just moved here last Feb, after living on and in the mountains for 38 yes.
    I have two garden beds that I can use mostly flowers, there old and the soil is used up. I've put in bulbs and will use some grow bags for taters and such.
    Maybe I could find a place that let's you hang up notes , ask around thru this billboard.
    Thanks for sharing.

    I've had rabbits as a pet, so I was a little bothered by you raising yours for meat. BUT, I DO understand why you do what you are doing wi r h your rabbits. I usually get the English Lop rabbit. Why don't you get the very large Flemish rabbits? They get to be 20 pounds & more. I would think they would give you more meet for your money income. Just curious. Btw, Dutch sent me over, so I now can enjoy your videos, too! Keep up the good work on your growing homestead. I look forward to hearing & seeing more from you. God bless!

    • @SawyerRidgeFarm
      @SawyerRidgeFarm  4 года назад +1

      Kathleen Carlstedt thank you! The setup we have now would not house the large Flemish giants, although they probably would give a better yield. We really enjoy the New Zealand/Rex cross because it’s great for meat and also for the farm store we sell to in the spring. They don’t want huge bunny rabbits. Lol
      Thanks so much for watching and supporting our channel! 😊👍

    NICE. I raise a Californian/Dutch cross for ease of kidding, large litters, and FAST 'grow out'. I have worm beds under ALL 'static' cages. I can pull off the top manure for my garden at any time. BUT, I get 15 bucks A POUND for the 'worm gold' when sold to the Orchid freaks out here.

      @SawyerRidgeFarm  4 года назад

      singleman that is a great idea with the worm beds under the cages! We also have worms, but we have them in an old deep freezer that quit working that Jacob converted to a worm bed.
