I originally came across them as I was in touch with a "Goth" band called The Whores of Babylon. One of the guys, Julian Hill, co-owned the State of Art Studios near Bristol with the Portishead people. They did some collabs. Portishead did a remix of one of their tracks "The Fall of Agade" and the vocalist, Shaun Atkins (RIP) did guest vocals on one of the Portishead tracks - "Western Eyes". Incidentally, Portishead is a town just west of Bristol City, on the coast.

Beth Gibbons (the vocalist for Portishead) released her solo debut album, Lives Outgrown, back in May. It's amazing.

This was filmed at the Roseland Ballroom, a venue in the theatre district of Manhattan, which opened in the 1920s and was closed (and demolished for condos) in 2014. Managed to catch lots of great gigs there while it lasted.

I'm not familiar with this band, as this isn't a genre that I normally listen to, but I'm always willing to give any artist/song a listen at least a couple of times. As many have stated, not every band will leave the same impression on everyone. The beat had a good dance rhythm to it, as I was tapping my foot lol. The singer by herself at the beginning really reminded me of Fiona Apple, who sang criminal. She had the same style. I thought that was pretty cool. But for some odd reason, when she sang as the band was playing, it kind of sounded a little off-key. Now, maybe that's the way it was supposed to sound, or maybe it was just my hearing. Thank you, Saeed, for your reaction to them. Much love and hugs to you and your family❤😊

Not familiar with the genre either. It's definitely different. I enjoyed the creativity aspect of it. Mixing a variety of genres together. Thanks for watching. Have a wonderful day!

I've heard them on a couple of soundtracks but not this song before. I've always liked what I've heard of theirs but for some reason delved deeper.

Hey man, great reaction, I will subscribe! Portishead are from my hometown of Bristol in the UK and as you say were early proponents of 'Trip Hop' alongside Massive Attack (also from Bristol). They're debut album 'Dummy' is a bonafide classic and one of the best albums of the 90s. You should also check out material from their 3rd, and to date final, album, simply entitled 'Third'. The song 'The Rip' is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard, would love to see what you make of it ✌️
