I've been looking on the Xaoc site and can't find info on this firmware. Rather, there is info on where to get it, but not specifics on how to use the features in the new firmware. Do you know where this information is outlined? Thanks.
Great video! Learned a lot about the Batumi watching this and gave me so many ideas. Seems like it would pair well with the Xaoc Samara II quad attenuator.
Glad to hear it! Absolutely! The Xaoc modules pair together great and definitely one of my favorite options for modulation between it and the Zadar still!
@@Nematomusic Yeah, I'm still staring at unfinished things 4 years later :D Just remember it isn't a race. Just don't stress about it. Unless you're planning to move again :P
Looking the Tinrs Arbadil and Joranalogue Morph (Misspelling these modules, I am sure) as options for mixing and managing signals for modulation. I have been having dreams about these modules xD Finally have both a Zadar and Batumi and should be using them both by tomorrow!
Yeah the melody is generated from the Malekko Varigate 8+. The Batumi is slowly modulating parameters on the osc and filter to change the timbre a bit over time so the sound isn’t stagnant. 👌🏼
No, the Batumi is triggering the drum samples, and also modulating parameters on an oscillator (Make Noise dPo) making that bass sound more interesting. You could use the Batumi as a sound source with the different wave outputs, and modulate the sounds through a vca though!
@@Nematomusic thx but what is the original sound source is this fat nice bass? what is the oscillator? So the bass sound is an oscillator and dPo. But what oscillation? thx
For the transient, it’s just the original module panel. They changed it to gold/black for the second model. The Batumi panel on the other hand, Xaoc devices sells and I grabbed from Perfectcircuit.com
The Malekko Varigate 8+ for the arp style melody in “song mode.” The pads coming from the Rene, and then I pretty much always sequence drums with the TipTop Circadian Rhythms! 👍🏼
nemato if you really like batumi you should consider getting its best buddy samara on its side as a best friend, they really like each other you'll see ;P
i have a question please. seing the batumi next to the zadar i wonder if the zadar couldn't do the same thing as the batumi? even better because of envelope shapes and crazy fast or slow cycle options. or did i miss something?
They are very similar! If I could only have one I personally like the Zadar better because of the display. The Batumi in a way can feel a little bit more immediate with the simpler envelope shapes depending what you’re using it for, and the algorithms chaining the 4 envelopes together in different ways can be unique as well. Definitely don’t NEED both! Just a matter of preference. 👍🏼
Great information as the Batumi will be my next module purchase. I've been searching for a black Batumi everywhere. How and where did you find yours ? ! 💡✔
I bought the black replacement panel from perfectcircuit.com for ~ $35. Unfortunately once you go down the rabbit hole of black modules, you spend that much more on color coordination in your system 😅
Jesus Christ! What a great channel. Thank you for the Batimi tips!
@@xnaut_g thank you! It's been a while, but there will be more coming soon! In contact with another eurorack company 🤘🏻

Came for the Batumi, stayed for the music... subscribed!
Ha awesome! Thank you so much! 🤘🏻
install expert firmware so you have attenuater already build in the module + you have random outputs which are my all time fave of the module
I’ll have to do this!

You made me look at the Batumi in ways I hadn't thought of. Thank you!
Sweet! That’s the main goal I suppose!
Buying a house is one thing. Making it your own is another entirely.
Good luck!
That’s what I’m afraid of! 😂 thank you!

Thank you for explaining my favourite modulation source! :D
Right? Makes me think I need to take a good look at the other Xaoc modules... :D
@@Nematomusic I wish I had the chance to buy a Moskwa sequencer.. And I heard only good stuff about the Belgrad filter as well. I love Xaoc.
Hey, would you mind to explain the expert firmware on this as well? Can't get my head around it.
Haven’t used it still, but may download it this evening and see what I can find out!
@@Nematomusic would be great! :)
you happen to have their Bytom too? I cant find any video about its possibilities...
I don’t. Considering reaching out to Xaoc Devices though to see if they’d help me make more videos for their modules!

Very helpful thanks for making this
3:34 Is there some sequencer involved or it's just Batumi?

from 7:12 this module makes that kick and percussion sounds? Or from 9:12 that analog sounding fat bass? Only the BATUMI?Thx

The dPo is the oscillator (sound source)
@@Nematomusic Getting clear :) May I ask you what unit plays the drum sample? A drum module or a sequencer?
Thanks alooot Nemato!!
And.. at 9:20 it sounds gorgeous.. 🙏
robu robu thank you that means a lot! Hoping to make more music in that style for the next album!!
Batummy module got me good 😂

Hi and thanks for the video! Just wanted to ask, for any these examples, was there a jumper on the back in use?
Only jumper I have installed is to change the reset option to sync to a clock. Didn’t install any jumpers to adjust the SAW output 👌🏼
What are you using as a sequencer at the end for everything.
The Malekko Varigate 8+ for the arp style melody in “song mode.” The pads coming from the Rene, and then I pretty much always sequence drums with the TipTop Circadian Rhythms! 👍🏼

@@Nematomusic Too late, hah ! Thanks for the info ~💥
... you are suppressing half of the functionality
Oh no! How so?
Nemato the expert mode for example, and that you can attenuate the Values of every Channel ...
... and of course the possibility to install the alternative firmware.
Oh sure! Not meant to be a full in depth tutorial video of all possible uses, but I will look into updating the firmware in the future!
@@nextg.5899 There is no such thing as expert mode in Batumi. There is an alternative firmware that is called expert firmware, though
