4 Days Bushcraft Trip - Arrival of Winter

- A friend gave me access to roam his land and do what I like. And I was surprised to see its an old forest with huge spruce trees that are hundreds of years old, in combination with beech, ash, hazel etc. It stretches down, bordering to a beautiful river. I will return making more serious builds there this winter.
Classic Swedwoods content this time around.. and what a blast to see the white stuff again (if only a glimpse). I have waited so long for the cold to return.
I demonstrate some tips and tricks I thought about lately in this video. Do my favorite soup. Also: three different ways to make fire. November is the hardest month to make a fire so I simply had to go to another method when the first failed. Very important to know different ways when you are not in your own woods in the worst fire making month of the year. Match, lighter and Ferro rod. And to all those internet commandos criticizing a bic lighter in the woods... I will not waste time talking about it and you will be instantly blocked.

Mr. Swedwoods, I work third shift and watch your videos every day to calm me down so I can sleep... Thank you and don't stop making them... 🇺🇸
Saturday with blanket on sofa enjoying Swedwoods
Thanks for watching!
I am currently playing this music to assist a little young person go to sleep. This young person has been through so much trauma as a child and night time is a trigger. This music has helped her so much and really helps her see there are safe adults in this world. Thank you for such beautiful music. You are helping so many without even realising. Blessings, love and light to everyone who comes across this text
Got to say I love watching people camping especially in winter and when people don't talk at all only show videos through action is more real to me so thank you as always for good content and videos
Thanks!
Me encantan tus videos de las acampadas y como armas tus refugios de emergencia . Saludos
Forever Swedwood 🏕See you From Frankfurt Germany 🏕👍🏻
Thank you!
516,000 people are very happy that you make such great videos. I am just one of them. You always make me feel better and inspire me to go out and remember what is important in life. You always say thank you for watching,...a huge thank you back for making and sharing. I'm getting a gransfors axe for christmas as like a lot of subscribers we love copying and learning from what you do.
Jag kämpar fortfarande med att göra en gaffel av trä men mitt fiske blir bättre. Skål!
Tack!
When I want to watch something pleasant in silence, I watch you. You are my silent companion. Thank you.
Thanks!
The Japanese sauce is the decisive factor! 😊👌
Awesome 👍, enjoy watching Swedwoods from Palestine/Gaza 🇵🇸🇵🇸
Headphones on, a great experience, you are amazing, hälsningar ifrån Stockholm
Thank you!
I didn’t expect that you made such a long video. Many many thanks.
Winter has come!
Thanks!
Personally, I'm a Bic lighter camping grandma...can't rub two sticks together, and shoot sparks everywhere with a Ferro rod. Matches are ok but if it's windy they're pretty much useless too so give me a lighter anytime. 🙂
Love your videos.
Thanks!
ماشاءالله الهدوء جميلة هي الطبيعة فيديو ممتع ونصائح مجرد المشاهدة تأتيك الراحة واصل اخي
There are many Bushcraft channels on RUclips, but only a few that know how to enjoy what they do and show that passion to people. Your channel is one of those few. Thank you very much for sharing and hugs from Spain
Thanks a lot my friend!
I love your videos without music or talking, the natural sounds and noises are just great, they make us feel like being there in the woods with you!
Thank you that is the goal!
Yeah!
I love it when he doesn't talk too!!!
@@Swedwoods
Hi, put up a question as to RUclips possibly throttling your videos if you show cooking the fish you catch?
I mentioned how on other things I watch, YT doesn't seem to have a prob with the content maker catching, cleaning & cooking their fish ( It was Greg Ovens on his YT channel the other day & fish involved was cod?)
I thought around 44:53 ish there was a gunshot mixed in with you breaking that branch & was wondering if someone might've been hunting out there during that same time frame?
Anyway, cool stuff as always!
Dear brother. Ty again for providing knowledge, peace and sharing what a beautiful planet we all inhabit. In this stressful world your videos are a Godsend. Always provide me with peace and happiness knowing that this world, the world you share with us is still there. Blessings and ty
Thanks!
Really you do know how to light a woodfire, man! The most i like and enjoy is to see how its growing up from the beginning using different techniques almost in real time and no tricks, thank you very much to share it!
Thank you very much!
28:28 perfect "leave no trace "....
I have been watching your videos continuously for the last 2 year's love and support 🌹🇮🇳
Thank you very much for your support!
GOOD JOB THANKS for support and watching video good luck
Whenever I see you make a tea or coffee with the pine, when drinking you have this look like you regret all your life choices it’s hilarious 😂
lol🤣🤣 I know a lot of people say I look miserable. It must be something wrong with my face because Im a very happy person.
I love the set up, but it'd take me four days to find poles that long. LOL luckily I can improvise using the oaks, cedar, or mesquite that are the prevalent trees on my property and for a hundred mile in any direction. But it has to be dead winter to carry anything but jerky for more than a day in Texas. The temps even then can get to 50F so you really have to plan or carry preserved meats if you're going to eat "fancy". I usually just hit a couple squirrels. A litte salt, pepper, and lemon juice from a restaurant pack with a decent little cook fire and dinner is served.
It's nice to see you come back to that flaked off rock every once in a while! It looks to be the best fire place!
I appreciate the no-nonsense approach to camping out. A mixture of military surplus and civilian equipment. Just enough to fill a 40lt pack.
I've been enjoying your work for a few years now. Long my it continue.

Thank you very much!
Every Video is learning, enjoying, relaxing. Thank you! 😊🌲🌳🔥🍴
Thanks!
Man, I really love your gentle way. Everytime I see a new video from you I am happy
i love you too
Thank you!
Hello from Oklahoma! Good Video! I know making these videos is a lot of work. In each video I see something I know I will have to try. The area of Sweeden U are in, reminds me so much of Northern Canada where I used to go. Thank U for letting us tag along. Thanks for all U do! God Bless!
Thank you!
Hello my friend. Just have to say that your bushcraft videos are undeniably the best that are out there regardless on which platform they are on. The food cooking was superb. Question for you is do you use oak or maple when you are roasting your meat 🍖. Thanks again for all your hard work. ATB Mike
Thanks, Swedwoods. There was something very satisfying about the campfires in this one. 👍🙂🏕️🔥
Thank you!
swedwoods is the real one out here!! love the content
Thank you!!
i love ur dishes like somewhat when u did that cabbage soup i was feeling like mouthwatering
Thanks glad you liked it!
Commandos...hahaha, you tell em Swed brother. I detest those "you're doing it wrong" types, like they're experts or something..yeah right. I like watching someone who actually knows what the hell they're doing, makes my experience so much more pleasurable. This is a great video from all angles, from tips and tricks to seeing some nice pike being caught. So much forest and not a mountain in sight, must be a arctic Swedish thing. If there's forest here, mountains are also. Everything expected was in this one, bushcraft, camping and chores, fires, cooking delicious meals, leaving no trace and all done expertly. Thanks for the work bringing me along, well done. See ya next time.
Thank you my friend!
Just great! Thanks very much! Stay healthy and best wishes!
Thanks!
My God, that forest... yes, you were among the ancient ones! Such beauty, Swedwood - and what a nice friend you have. Please thank him for allowing you to share his wildlands with us all of your fans!!! Picked up a few more tips in this one as well!😉
Thank you my friend!
Hi my friend! Other awesome video.. thank you for sharing. It is nice to have that moments of course with all your acknowledgment about woods and nature. Congratulations you are lucky! Greetings from Madrid
Thank you very much!
Absolutely outstanding😎👌👍
Thanks!
My friend, you are a comfort and happiness for the hearts, may God protect you ⚘❤
Thanks!
I love this videos, if in any place of this world the magic exist is in that forest, 🙌🏻 🌳🌳🌳
Thanks!
And again an adventure in nature. Fire, fishing and cooking .... what the stressed person needs.🤓
I can see you're a man that likes taking risks. If I ate that much cabbage, I'd be on the toilet all night. Weird flex bro 😄 🤣
Great video as always
I just love to watch these well made videos w/o commentary on lazy sunday morning. I would not even call it a guilty pleasure, because I actually learn some things here and there. Thank you for posting these!
Inspiration for me you are Sir❤
As always sir, this was another bushcraft masterpiece! Thank you so much for feeding our soul. I got a chuckle out of the description. For backpacking trips, standard fire starting tools are two bic lighters, wooden matches in a pill bottle with striker paper taped on the top of the pill bottle and a 4” ferro rod and striker. 😄 I figure when that’s too heavy to carry into the backcountry then i need to start going to the gym more often😁.
Thank you again Swedwoods. Take care. NQU
🤣🤣 thank you!
What a great trip! I still think that tripod setup for tarp shelters is fantastic. It does so many things! I laughed at your well done editing of the camera falling transitioning to a log dropping. Very clever 😀
Thank you for the recipes, I will definitely give them a try!
Cheers! 🇨🇦
Thank you kindly my friend!
Wonderful video thank you !
Thanks!
No one needs netflix or any others. The only one i need is swedwoods. So naturly, so great content. Greetings from Germany
Thank you very much!
Another beautiful video. Thank you.
Thanks!
nature is wonderful. and so are you
A wonderful plot. Many of us need to take an example from you, how the King of nature - man should behave.
Nice episode my friend. I enjoyed from start to finish.
Thanks! 🙏✌️
Thanks!
Tak for endnu en omgang fantastisk og inspirerende udeliv. Jeg ser nu endnu mere frem til en weekend i de stille svenske skove 👏👏
Thanks!
I watch your channel everyday to see if you post new video 😊...I am waiting the next video with snow camping
Thank you!
Great video as always.
Interesting to see you using a bushcraft knife. While they have their place, I still think the old style green river or old hickory style knives hold their own for bushcraft. Same is true of the Kephart and Nessmuk styles.
They are not very thick and while people are always afraid they will break, they excel at bushcraft chores.
I’ve seen videos of a guy processing wood with a very thin green river knife. You would think that it would snap from battening but it held up really well.
That soup looked great 👍👍👍.
Yeah agree. I mostly use thin small knives. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. Cheers from da ROCK!
Thanks!
Out of all the bushcraft channels I watched your content and feel for nature is the most genuine. Also I really like the fact that you do stuff and enjoy the outdoors without speaking. Silence sometimes speaks louder than words. Keep up the good work and the awesome and relaxing videos! :D
Thank you very much!
Hi, yet another brilliant video. I so envy you " the nature" and the vast tracks of wild and empty land. We are so regulated and controlled here in the UK. The wild should be for everyone to enjoy not just the wealthy few.
Can I suggest that you take a look at the luminiser thermoelectric lantern. Not only do you get the nice glow of a flame but when you want you can get the flood and spotlight from LEDs which you can actually see to do something. They use a lot lot less oil, they are lighter than a hurricane light and a lot less messy. Also try putting a very thin coat of clear gorilla glue on the skin of your reindeer skin. This works brilliantly in keep it dry and stopping it soaking up water, it also stops mildew from attacking the skin and from making it smell. I have found that two thin coats is best as it totally seals the hide.
All the best and hope to one day get to visit your beautiful country before I get to old .
Cheers John
Thanks! Got several very expensive led lights in my camera gear. Enough is enough. My rein deer skin is silicon treated.
@@Swedwoods
Hi they are not expensive at all about £25.00 on Amazon have a look and you will see what I mean. Honestly I can't rate them to highly for bushcrafters
*BEAUTIFUL AND ENCHANTING* Thank You!! 🙋🏻♀️🤗👍💚🎄🌔
Thanks!!
Finally you are using Casström no10 as you suggested to me last year. It bacame my favorite knife , so comfortable and robust , worth every dollar ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes a sturdy piece of knife for sure. A bit too thick for me though. Wish it was 0.5 mm less thick.
I’ve been a viewer for quite some time now and lemme tell u, you’ve thought me so much I appreciate u❤
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing... excellent as usual...
Thanks my friend!
Hi, i never usually comment on videos, but today I am, to express my gratittude to your art.
Dear Swedwoods, I am a student working on my masters thesis since the last month. Its a high stake job for me, my family and my career. I have been suffereing from anxiety and depression since the pandemic hit us all. I was alone in a foreign country stuck in isolation and sadness. I have great friends mind you but due to contact regulations it was brutal for me to use online methods to convers with my support system. I missed the warmth of their hugs, kisses and cuddles. The darkness was like a long night spanning two years. Eventually with the help of kind and caring university health proffesionals I was helped with medications and was suprisingly but very obviously diagnosed with ADHD. This finally answerd a lot of my questions reagarding my demeanor since childhood. I learned a lot about my self.
Then in the middle of my two years of darkness I found your channel and it helped my just stay alive and going, so the daily simple but emmencely depressing chores like showering, eating food. A months long marathon of your videos kept my body alive and my mind surviving. It helped my understand silence, simplicity and the value of calmness.
Currently, I still have anxiety issues and ADHD behaviours but just working with one of your episodes playing in the background keeps me going. I would say the beautify calmness of your channel has and will continue to be my personal guide to meditation. I am sure I resonate the regards of many others on this channel. A heartfelt ´tack´ to you.
God speed and may you live long and prosper :D
My grany and me always enjoy to watch your video . Thanks from Saudi Arabia hail city

Another incredible video! You are by far my favourite RUclipsr on bushcraft!! Gonna try making the soup. Thanks so much for these adventures. I can’t get enough of them!
Thank you very much!
If it wasn't for the fact that cabbage & me don't get along, I'd try whipping that up myself!
Looked yummy!
Is there a sub to throw in for cabbage that wouldn't be pasta based?
Great Camping Adventure !! Everyone has their own way to welcome New season. Your way to enjoy arrival of winter season is very calming , peaceful hearing various sounds of woods ( Forests), Grounding Time for oneself.
Thank you!
덕분에 healing 한 느낌이였어요. 좋은 영상 감사합니다.
Thanks!
Summer is over, and I'm looking forward to the winter season here in NZ. Many thanks for all the effort it takes to produce one of these films. Great inspiration to get out there. Best regards.
정말 부럽고 멋지십니다. 잘 봤습니다ㅎ
very apprioprioate movie - suits to today's temperature and frozen weather here in Poland : )
Thanks!
Jean Michel Jarre is French, not Polish, but Kebu plays Jarre's music. You must be a JMJ fan like me.
any one else saw the little spider on the face of the wood he almost got killed by the axe at 4:22
XD
Great video with lots of good wee tips and tricks. I enjoy your recipes and attempted my version of Nikkaluokta Soup tonight. Thank you for sharing
