The guy in the background is epic ❤
I have been using Brown Bottle Lysol for years without any mold buildup in my hide paste. I also find that storing the glue in the fridge (my shop fridge) helps also. I make up my hide paste into separate large margarine tubs, and store them there until needed. Then I can leave them out without any problems! ;)
I've used pinesol for years , the recipe came from The Denver Museum . I will give the Lysol a try . Never needed to refrig , lasted for months!
+Chuck Testa (Ojai Valley Taxidermy) Well, I think the Denver Museum did a few things right ... LOL!!! Mine works for me, but it doesn't smell Piney-Fresh ... just Lysol-y-Fresh! ;) Remember though ... use the Brown Bottle Lysol ... it's really concentrated. One or two cap-fulls to a pound of hide paste mix works real well.
Looks like Chuck has a Peeping Tom .... need more PODCASTS!
Your new sidekick. Now he must always chew gum and stare.
Try the BROWN Dettol. You can get it on Amazon. Its the ONLY old skool 'Pine Oil' left! IT TURNS WHITE IN WATER! SMELLS SO GOOD!
I used this glue formula last month, of course I used pinesol, I opened the tub this morning and sure enough it was molded. I have brown bottle lysol, so I will try that. Thanks.
Try DETTOL, the brown one. Its on Amazon, and its fom England. Its expensive, but I LOVE it.
Dettol is only 2.5% to 10% pine oil which is about the same as several knock-off Pine-Sol imitators. If Pine oil content is the focus then a much more concentrated product would be Hexol which is 57.2% pine oil and is made in the good ol' US of A.
Ocean pine oil is 67% pine oil. You can still buy pine sol with pine oil in it but you have to order it online
I cant find it
