People's impression of running Gentoo is that you're constantly waiting for compiles, but it taught me to appreciate programs that compile fast. Blackbox was my go-to back then, did not take very long to compile even on a single core Athlon 64.
It is funny to me how so many people ask others about their configurations, and oh why don't use you this and that, and this tool is much better than this etc. Use the tools that work best for you. Find your own workflow. Adjust things where needed.
There is people who talk about tools, and then there is people who actually use them to get work done.
I agree with Rene, used to program without syntax highlighting, who need distracting colors?
(Ok, I realized its not too distracting, but even to this day I rarely see the colored mistakes)
Idk, it helps me spot mistakes. Like say I accidently added a space to a function name instead of _ the two words are very obviously different colors and it's hard to miss.
That said, coding without is very much doable.
👴Back in my day we created our web pages in Notepad, and we _liked it._
@@trajectoryunown I once had to login to a server and edit a page in ed, some would argue anything newer is bloat.
Glad to see Rene here!
Don’t delay try T2 SDE today!
In the old days I used to code in PowerBASIC. No colors, no intellisense. We were doing fine lol.
It feels like he might like a really muted color theme
I told you he is a wizard🤯
Is... Rene using basically vanilla vim without a bunch of plugins or an lsp? I spend months tweaking my neovim config so I can feel like a cool programmer and all these legends are in X11 and vim?
last time i watched one of his videos he was using vi not even vim
@@icecoldmichl285 bruh
You don't have to use the same tools than your heroes. Just find what you like, and what you want. I use nano, and I fine.
Use case varies, he does kernel developer, i do full stack, and i need lsp, syntax highlighting, etx
Nothing wrong with customizing tools to your liking. I use a few plugins but mostly custom keybindings, and no lsp because I find it distracting.
it's like, a, hihihi, like, basically like-a hehe yeah like
whut ?
