please make more videos like this one!!!! I really like how you just took the number of chords I already know and multiplied that by 3 or 4 in one practice session. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO!
This is the video I've been searching for months. Thank you so much, Andy. You got a new subscriber.
I guess im asking randomly but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly lost my login password. I love any tricks you can offer me
@Kamdyn Brock instablaster ;)
Wow! Thanks shapes making sense. So
many people, gr8 hoping to get the gifted moving to their talents . Lol. 🎸
Months? It took me a minute looking it up
Same
This was awesome! I just finished learning triads so this made perfect sense. Buying the improving book right now!
That is so helpful!
thankyou so much Andy!
Whenever I ask someone how to play chords up the neck they tell me to learn the CAGED system, I did go down that rabbit hole for a while, but it just seemed so overkill for what I wanted. In reality this was all I needed to unlock more voicings and to allow me to move past the GDC trap that I've been in for years. I am so grateful, thank you a million times over.
The problem with the cage system is its all barre chords, then once you learn it people say its not about barre chords grrr. The Cage system is damn hard and takes a long time to learn due the said barre chords. People who love this system says it helps you to learn the neck, but to do that you have to know all the notes on the fret board by hear. So if you know all the notes by heart, you will know each note and its relation to each other making the cage system redundant.
Andy, YOU ROCK! Thank you for being such a great teacher!
To create the Em at 4:00 you can simply remove the middle finger and keep the first finger where it is. This is an Em7 which sounds nice too.
Yeah thats a cool chord l use all the time........lt just sounds great!!!!
absolutely great break thru lesson...been looking for this for so long! thx
Great lessons. Learnt so much from you Andy. Thank you.
I LOVE this, exactly what I was looking for, sooo thankful for this video. Please keep posting such stuff
Thanks mate! What a superb lesson indeed!
Thanks so much help to go from scales to chords and back and forth .I think everyone learning should learn there scales and these chords it makes such a difference.
This was SO helpful :') no bs, just straight to the point! I've been playing for years but feel like I've never gone beyond the standard root position chords and strumming patterns. Super excited I found you!!! Thank you for making these videos!
Nice one Andy its just perfect thank you 😊
Thankyu sir...helped me deeper ....from Kenya
Thank you so much for this video!! It is so helpful!
Sounds great thanks really enjoyed it now to take some notes and practice!
Thanks mate, I love experimenting with chords like this, make my own lil tunes and all that
Your video was really helpful. Thank you 🙏🏼
Great video thanks! 🇺🇸🎸
Thank You for another great lesson.
Thanks Bro. It was really very much helpful.
Great exercise, thank you
Great lesson, thank you
Hey andy! Great video as usual...really helped me out! Could you perhaps do a tutorial or an explanation on writing melodies over a chord progression in a certain key? Thank you!
Thank you for making it sooo simple to understand n practical! Everything else I read on this before coming here makes it sound so complicated
It is complicated to explain this guy is just a lyrical pro
Useful! Thanks Andy! 🎵🎵🎵
A really eye opening video, thank you
This was so helpful!!
This was very enlightening!
Thanks so much for this video sir.
Great lesson!
Excellent Teacher!
You can use white enamel nail polish to make inlay dots on your fret board ❤
This explains a lot..Thanks
Great lesson Andy!!!!!! I already knew my D and E shapes.......thanks for filling in the dots bro!!!!!
After seeing this I think I understand the guitar much better. This really makes sense as you use the standard chord shapes on higher frets when using a capo to get different chords :)
Top Lesson.. Greetings from Switzerland
That d shape moved up the neck to make other chords, I can’t remember the names top of my head now but you just made the sound of the chorus and verse chords in the song Jack and Dianne. I’ve been working on that song.
Thank you 😊
Love this
Awesome
Good vedeo👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽😊 thanks Andy..
Lovely
Brilliant
Fantasic!Gracious best lesson of my life and IM Old...
Back to guitar

thanks ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
from Egypt🇪🇬
Finally, I am beginning to understand how the names change with same shape up and down! Thank You. It's the root note that is the thicker string, usually! RIGHT?
Nice
Andy I am sure you know but my hero Steve Howe's song Wurm (part c of Starship Trooper) was based on those first 3 chords? The only difference he played the 6th string instead of the 5th.
Great energy and camera presence, Andy! Thanks for the inspiration :) -Jared
Can you make a tutorial on how to play UNWELL by MATCHBOX TWENTY pls
Can you do Thunder tutorials? Such a good and underrated band and I really want to be able to play their songs
I like it..
Wonderful! So helpful! A friend of mine once told me that once you get past the third fret, that's where all the magic happens! :)
Becki Alfrey i
some guy said never earned a dime past 5. never earned anything past the 5th fret
Knew information thanks. 5 years and this is the first mention of the note being two frets up and over for this progression. Thanks mr. How's this work with other chords? More information. Johnny 5 craves more data!
As you move up and down the neck the chord becomes a variation of an E chord, a G chord, an A chord etc. Can you identify which chords the D shape moving up the neck becomes as we move up and down the neck?
Your guitar sounds really good. What kind is it.
I think you just helped me with my barchords lol
Marvelous....... Lookup
Is it possible for you to do a tutorial on Sunday morning by maroon 5
Can you use the same technique with the A major chord as with the E major?
Thank god, how do you strum like that?
You can play a cool rendition of (Good Riddance) Time of Your Life by Green Day with these chords
Any chance you'll ever cover "Celtic Symphony?"
Second!! From Nepal!!
andy , i am a singer, i want to play the guitar while singing , what level of guitar should i reach or finish ? should i finish the intermediate or only the beginner ? thanks.
I too had a huge misconception about guitar chords......until now
Opened a new door for me. God bless you for this valuable lesson. Made my day, truly.
What is the chord position for the BbM7 chord at the, is it played at the 5 or 6 string using a E shaped barr cord? Respond ASP Word Consert Tour is being delayed from this dilemma.
BINGO!!!! I actually asked my guitar teacher if there were open chords further up the neck and he said No..... Thank you Andy!!!!!!!
Then you have a very bad guitar teacher
Interesting
Xo by eden project tutorial please !!!!
how do you know how high up to go?
Can you teach us the solo to come as you are
why do you add an extra finger to the moveable chord compared to the chord in the open position ?
Thanks Andy this helps a lot. My music theory is grainy at best so can you tell me... if using the c shape on the 10th fret to make a g. Would that mean it’s a g in the key of c? Basically what I mean is. Does the shape determine the key of the chord?
The key is like the group if chords. The key of G includes G, D, Em, C, Am, Dm, and Bdim. Ever notice you never see songs in G with A#? That's because it isn't in the key. The key of C includes C, Dm, Em, G, Am, F. Playing a different chord doesn't change the key.
Been trying to get your improver chords book. Is it no longer available?
Just seen that it's unavailable on amazon.com (UK amazon is there though). Will double check this on Monday 👍
7:12 - I never use the Octave (dosnt do much for the sound) and with 3 fingers (and muting die third string) its much easier to shift
wheres this link?
if you move the non bar c shape chord the third string will be opened and it is not possible not to touch it with the pick .. so the chord won't sound correctly on eery positions
Great lesson tho my major concern is finding chords that are close and not move up and down the fretboard
Im gonna get a new guitar for this... 4 guitars behind you ;p
what kind of guitar is that, so beautiful..where to buy it, am in bangkok anyway
It’s a brand called faith guitars, not sure the exact model but I believe they’re made in the UK
Thanks from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🍛🍛👳
Guthrie says something like "the next chord should make the last chord interesting".
Which c chord are you playing with pinky on high E?
Just C major with a G on top
We really allowed this guy to rick roll us😂
Boom you also learned arpeggios
Will you do a Moth To The Flame by Thunder guitar tutorial?
Incredibly useful tutorial........when you play a C chord you say to hold 1st string down on 3rd fret...is this not a C/G chord?
Its a good video but for most people they would be able to do it if you just name where the first finger goes and tell them to keep the C Shape etc. Do you have a chart for this ?
Barre chords are an easy tool that can help you find chords that sound better by removing some of the strings of the chord, I almost never play barre chords anymore
Just like taking my dog for a walk no stress ,cheers does piss me off wen reading Guitar Tabs and can't figure out a chord nr the fret ,a Little easier now
didn't know Rory Williams play guitar
Okay, maybe i'm too much of a beginner to be here lol but at least i have started exploring.
I think bar chords are fuller because most are 6 strings being used vs
What about the open g ? You can't play that all he way up the neck
