I love this style so much. It is straight-forward, precise and forceful. I have practiced with a training group for some months in my youth, and I particuarly loved the thrusts delivered by hip and shoulder. Immediate, short motions that release so much energy. I kind of regret I did not keep going.
you can definitely sense the incredible power in his strikes. Not only that, but the fluidity and the seemingly effortless gracefulness of his movement. nice!
Damn, when I read that Bajiquan was "explosive" I didn't expect it to be THIS explosive. I'd swear his strikes were being propelled by tiny little rockets.
this was the first video I saw from you guys and I am drawn to the variations of editing...music.... and in the form demonstrated. Seeing variation of the hard soft heavy light fast slow dynamics is refreshing.
This man has really put in the work to release the full potential of his body. Great seeing such mastery of the human mechanics to create such an explosive force
Great power, great stamina. Each move like the explosive move in Chen Taiji, but explosive in every move. Believe it or not, practice like this is very demanding.
best on Tube so far !!! much much respects for a real Master of Chinese Gongfu... who actually proved his skills not only in forms but also in Sanda Competitions!!
george harris If you ever play the story mode in DOA 5, you can see Akira Yuuki demonstrating his Ba Ji Quan technique. Well, that is the real Ba Ji Quan. The martial artist in this video mixed Ba Ji Quan with another style, even though that was done beautifully. The real Ba Ji Quan is pretty straight forward so that they can generate more flowing power through their so called One-Punch-KO..
Wushu (Chinese martial arts), though a version did make it over to Japan (In Japan Baji may be called Hakkyokuken). I forget which teacher first brought it there though.
@jiafish yes right, the form isn't fight! forms just helps your body to develop some skills, in a real fight we must often change some smal things. To release the maximum of power all parts or your body should turn together, hips- waist-shoulder-elbow and your whole spine - so he face (in the form) forward - it helps to release fa li !
Watch carefully and you'll see a great fluidity in these movements. The explosive and hard, the absorbent and soft; you'll see that one is not possible without the other ;)
I'm not that knowledgeable about the subject, but from my understanding, Bājíquán focuses on short explosive strikes (think like Bruce Lee's one inch punch) that deliver maximum power. One of the more famous practitioners of the art was known for saying that he never needed to hit a man twice (the first blow invariably maiming or killing the target). While I don't know if An Jian Qiu is at that level (I lack the experience to judge his abilities) you definitely wouldn't want to get hit by him :)
+John Hardin I guess it depends on who is doing it... Baji & Xing yi belong to the "traditional" wushu category, and were known for the their power and "punishing" style. The "mainstream" you mentioned I assume it's the modern national form, which is for the competition, and for competition you need a standard to judge them, so it's more focused on the gymnastic ability, which involved lots of jumping, and difficult moves, speed and accuracy are very important. on other hand, it's hard to judge between different traditional styles, and practitioners and those forms are more combat orientated, in which you will see more combat techniques, use of power, etc.
Bajiquan this, karate that, hakkyuden here, boxing there. I am a man and i will fight to my last breath with my art of violence. I am a man and i will express with my art of expression. I am a man and i will walk with my art of walking. Martial arts is just a label for these things as a whole. Master whatever is appropriate for you.
@MasterPedroJoe hi, no An Jian Qiu was born in a baji quan family, so his baji style is called An- Baji Quan he studied baji quan under his father An De Sheng and his grand father An Shu Bao. greets
@MrPr01000 people generally consider 'Wushu' to be modern martial arts performance, somewhere between gymnastics and dance. many traditional fighting forms incorporate strength, flexibility and stamina training so in this regard wushu is indeed a martial art, as it trains all of these as well. however, because of the focus on performance in wushu, it's a widely held belief that the martial aspect has been lost and that wushu is no longer effective for fighting. this is definitely debatable.
@DreamChasersInc Hey, An Jian Qiu is teaching in China (Shandong Province). The prices are depending on how long you want to stay, and what you want to learn. (more one to one fight training or group training). I'll send you some more infos in a personal message. greets aladin
I like how you humbly make suggestions on somebody's family style. I humbly believe he humbly knows more about how to humbly perform this than you humbly do, with all humility. This is not aggression, it's offense. With aggression, your emotions are in control. With offense, YOU are in control. He's got what the Japanese call fudo-shin, or "immoveable mind". Watch the other vids if you don't think he understands fluidity.
What are those sounds accompanying each movement that sound like the cracking of a knuckle? Are his movements so fierce he is making his own bones make popping noises?
@jiafish, another thing, its easy to hit the own face with your own fist, so in the fight you look in the direction of your attack but you have to move your head a little which would look not good in the form. the music is from ephic score greets aladin
Sorry to say but this Baji power generation is just for show, it looks nice especially to outsiders, however due to the way he is twisting his body, a lot of force is stuck between his joints, in other word although it looks like he is generating power with his whole body, he isn't releasing his full body force to his striking point. This is not the original power generation method of Baiji, look like someone tried to mix Baji with Chen style concept.
***** Haha wow calling someone's parents stupid is not personal attack? yeah you are delusional. So let me ask you this, which lineage of Baji do you represent? which Baji lineage holders have you met? and where in all my comments above, have I said Baji as a whole is watered down? And just for the record, I think very highly of the lineage in Taiwan aka Wutan, and its not watered down at all. Oh wait you probably don even know them, so here is a quick back info just for you the ignorant one. Taiwan branch was founded by Liu Yunqiao, who was the last indoor disciple of Li Shuwen, if you dono who Li Shuwen is, then you shouldn't be talking abt Baji at all. And I didnt even say the above video is watered down, its more like over exaggerated power generation designed to look good for a show, that is not how proper Baji power look like.
i think it might be necessary to train the left hand more than the right (for right-handed people) to make full use of both hands, but I get your point
@SuperFartingCrap hello we just uploaded the new trainings schedule and the prices on the homepage. more infos are coming soon. for any questions just write me a msg. greets aladin
Hi, I have a question regarding the stomping of the foot in Baji Quan. Should the practitioner land his body weight on his heel or should he land with the entire foot sole? What I meant is that should energy be transferred to the heel or to the foot sole during stomping? Thank you :)
@MrPr01000 What is a real martial art for you? 武术 = wǔshù is chinese and if you translate it into english it means just *Martial Arts* Here the clip is caled *An-Wushu* because its the martial arts system from a family, with the family name *An* An Jian Qiu shows Baji Quan a part of his family martial arts style. greets
Chinese Kenpo and Wushu are the same thing...But I kinda get why you would be confused. Whenever people are talking about Chinese Martial Arts with Graceful Motions they call it Wushu and when they are talking about Martial Arts that are mostly rough and tough and are not as graceful they call it Chinese Kenpo. But they are the same thing.
Great technique, but my only comment is that this could be even better if the movements were more fluid, less stiff. It is not always necessary to show aggression to be a master. I say this even though I am just a humble practitioner.
Looks impressive. Incidentally, the music is ridiculous. It's like the American music they use to make everything into a big drama, including baking a cake on those cookery programmes.
This guy is one badass earthbender.
I love this style so much. It is straight-forward, precise and forceful. I have practiced with a training group for some months in my youth, and I particuarly loved the thrusts delivered by hip and shoulder. Immediate, short motions that release so much energy. you can definitely sense the incredible power in his strikes. Not only that, but the fluidity and the seemingly effortless gracefulness of his movement. nice!
As much as I appreciate the performance, the musical background doesn't always have to be added to it.
Damn, when I read that Bajiquan was "explosive" I didn't expect it to be THIS explosive. I'd swear his strikes were being propelled by tiny little rockets.
The music is too much.
this was the first video I saw from you guys and I am drawn to the variations of editing...music.... and in the form demonstrated. Seeing variation of the hard soft heavy light fast slow dynamics is refreshing.
His form is flawless. Wow.
Movements are so precise, fast, and powerful. It's absolutely beautiful to watch.
This man has really put in the work to release the full potential of his body. Great seeing such mastery of the human mechanics to create such an explosive force
Great power, great stamina. Each move like the explosive move in Chen Taiji, but explosive in every move. Believe it or not, practice like this is very demanding.
I am always interested in ba Jo quan, this is by far the best video I've seen.
Those strikes look devastating. Beautiful technique
Oh god I got chills watching this. Amazing to watch.
No one wants to get hit by real Gung Fu.
best on Tube so far !!! much much respects for a real Master of Chinese Gongfu... who actually proved his skills not only in forms but also in Sanda Competitions!!
leo, akira yuki, and kokoro's version was more linear than this. just comes to show you: games only show half the art.
george harris If you ever play the story mode in DOA 5, you can see Akira Yuuki demonstrating his Ba Ji Quan technique. Well, that is the real Ba Ji Quan. The martial artist in this video mixed Ba Ji Quan with another style, even though that was done beautifully. The real Ba Ji Quan is pretty straight forward so that they can generate more flowing power through their so called One-Punch-KO..
its actually a different style all together it has a long name but its the kara-te version of it
Those are very powerful explosive punches !
Wushu (Chinese martial arts), though a version did make it over to Japan (In Japan Baji may be called Hakkyokuken). I forget which teacher first brought it there though.
Watch his feet. That's where all the power comes from.

This dude is SHARP!
Brilliant!!!!!!!!!
Is Baji an internal or external? Can it be done in old age?
Never seen someone make Wushu so intense. Is it mainstream to only show Wushu as graceful act?
+John Hardin I guess it depends on who is doing it... Baji & Xing yi belong to the "traditional" wushu category, and were known for the their power and "punishing" style. akira yuki and kokoro DOA5 fighting style :D
Bajiquan is mostly about huajin, every move has to come out like an explosion, so, diferently from other arts, it has to be done that way.
Those are great points and I feel he will need to continue to bring them up.
such a powerful peaceful art form, this , along with southern preying mantis, are my favorite
If you listen closely, you can hear him breaking the air in half. That is power in art.
you can just see the power being stored before each strike
@MasterPedroJoe hi, no An Jian Qiu was born in a baji quan family, so his baji style is called An- Baji Quan

There is real power here. Accompanied by frequent, full-contact sparring, this kind of stuff is nigh-unstoppable.

Leo brought me here lol (tekken btw)
such sharp and swift action's, so fierce...
i love the passion and strength of your movements.
What are those sounds accompanying each movement that sound like the cracking of a knuckle? Are his movements so fierce he is making his own bones make popping noises?
Absolute display of grace and power in the singularity
I wish I could learn baji quan...
@jiafish, another thing, its easy to hit the own face with your own fist, so in the fight you look in the direction of your attack but you have to move your head a little which would look not good in the form. the music is from ephic score

Nice job . I'm proud. :D
Boy, you ain't Akira. Gtfo.
This looks incredible!
Very beautiful moves....fluid and powerful... impressive.

is this Li Shu Wen's Baji style if i may ask??
What I don't like about this is he makes strong attacks with his left arm instead of right. Why does the Bajiquan form like that?
i think it might be necessary to train the left hand more than the right (for right-handed people) to make full use of both hands, but I get your point
it sounds like he's breaking his own bones with each burst.
neijia wushu , so you know what the lineage of the family? Who first taught the An family? I would be very interested to know?
Or anyone else?
I'd love to learn this style of Baji Quan. Where could find contact info and pricing plans?
@SuperFartingCrap hello we just uploaded the new trainings schedule and the prices on the homepage. more infos are coming soon. for any questions just write me a msg. greets aladin

Epic music for an epic demonstration of an awesomely epic fighting style.
Akira of Virtua Fighter!
@neijiawushu May I also have the information about the Shandong classes? I'd like to check it out for future planning. Thanks. :)
bajiquan would put ufc fighters to shame!
As much as I don't mind seeing performance of kung fu, but I do mind the musical background because sometimes I prefer to see only the action.
A TRUE MASTER! IMPRESSIVE!

Beautiful art.
Wow!! Spectacular!!
Great technique, but my only comment is that this could be even better if the movements were more fluid, less stiff. It is not always necessary to show aggression to be a master. I say this even though I am just a humble practitioner.
Wow, amazing power. Wish I could learn this, it will be amazing but I can't go to China. :(
Ehh.. Uhm.. Random question, but. What was the music used?

That was incredible!!

oh great! got an high class graphics card, and i still can't follow this badass movements!.
Looks impressive. Incidentally, the music is ridiculous. It's like the American music they use to make everything into a big drama, including baking a cake on those cookery programmes.
