I can easily pull out the oil dip stick and check it. You certainly can do it this way, however with todays tools you can work smarter. I used a siphon pump or even used Automotive Fluid Extractor Pump, Oil Change Syringe with Hose no fuss no mess. It is a good idea to run the motor I usually change the oil after the grass is cue. Oil changes are very easy now a days I change out every season. An hour meter is great to have.
Nice video, thanks. Two suggestions: 1. A 30" mulching blade made for these mowers, to complement the cover, for better mulching. On Amazon. The exact same mower is sold under many different brand names. 2. For any drain plug, I never replace the aluminum or copper crush washers. I coat the plug's threads with wheel bearing grease. I have never had a leak on dozens of vehicles over several decades. Grease is basically just ridiculously thick oil, for this purpose.
I fited a tach / hr meter to my new MDT mini rider hydro It just won't start Take it of it starts I tryed a second unit Still no go If conect itvwhen it's running it keeps running ? Put once you stop it it won't start again till disconect the h Tach wire from the spark plug ?????? Any ideas way the tack is Robin the coil spark
I just made a chute out of some metal flashing I had, long enough to get past the wheel (about 20” long) and slide that under the drain plug and drain the oil into a pan. The plastic drain chute that comes with the mower is junk and too short.
For the price, yes I love it. Its parked in the shed for our -40 C winters in Alberta. I did remove the battery so it doesn't freeze. Can't will till June to fire it back uip.
@@farmboyfixes Update, I checked with troy bilt on their site yo see when home depot will have some in stock anf they said end of feb or early Maarch. I did not think to ask why the new model is a tb30b and not a r at the end. Wondering the difference in the two?
I believe taking the chute off and putting the cover on the discharge will keep the grass in so the blade can mulch the grass. I'm not sure but I think that will work,,,
Great upgrades thanks! Any tips on maybe upgrading the muffler or somehow making it quieter? Dunno about yours but my mower is twice as loud as my SUV!🙉
I have no tips on the muffler. Being around farm equipment most of my life, my hearing isn't the best. To be safe, a good set of ear muffs to protect your hearing.
I did go to a few sites that had this hose, and the diameter size isn't listed. its probably 3/8 ID x 1/2 OD. But if you have the exact lawnmower, the part is 1723165SM.
@@farmboyfixes I have the Drainzit hose on my TB30. Best move I ever made. I also spray the rack & pinion with white lithium grease to keep it from stripping out. These units are prone to that.
What a great and concise instructions on 3 installations. It was easy to understand and positive improvements. Thank you…

That ramp underneath is a genius idea. Great tip...(get the joke?)
Did you know ??
If the plug gap is to wide the engine wont start after you fit one off these tachos ??
Had that isue
Took a while to figure it out
A crow's foot wench might have worked on that oil hose. I'm using a basin wrench on mine.
A crows foot wrench would have saved you lots of time installing the drain line. I wish you had included the links to the products .

Induction hour meter does not require the wire, just zip tie it to the frame under the seat.
Mine actually came with the "mulch kit" .

a Crows foot wrench wouldn't fit? What size is the wrench needed ?
Thanks for the tips! Getting ready to purchase the mower from home depot. Are you still happy with it?

@FARMBOY FIXES brrrrr, im in Alabama so no such temps here! Guess i will pull the trigger on this mower and all your great tips. Thank you sir!
@@uf1978 Well, those cold temps keep away the snakes. LOL..Enjoy your new lawnmower.

Great machine I'm selling mine I have to move it's about a year old.asking $1200
Great explanations but... what about a mulch blade? Do you just convert the chute? Doesn't it need a different blade install?

Tremenda idea fenomenal, megusto lo de manga de cambio de aceite

I wear ear plugs when I use my mower and weed Wacker .
What size wrench did you use to put the hose on?
Hmm, can't remember, and I have a 3 foot snow drift in front of the shed where I store it or else I would see what wrench fits.
What size oil drain hose to get for this model? 1/2 inch, 3/8 inch?
I have this exact mower.
