When I was a kid I remember toy lightsabers blades that went all the way back into the hilt and had light and sound. I also didn't have blade builders so I duct taped 2 lightsabers together. It's really cool to see what kind or lightsaber toys there are now.
The only part of the blade builders I like is the fact you can put the sabers together where it’s actually stable, but other wise I definitely prefer spring action
Reys lightsaber is model to look more like the skywalker lightsaber from episodes 4 and 5 . In episode 3 the lightsaber was made a different way to how they made them back in the 70s .
In ANH and ESB the prop they used for Lukes lightsaber was a vintage Graflex camera flash with a few modifications such as, the black t track grips added to the bottom, a D ring attached to the underside of the hilt for hanging off the belt, and the calculator bubblestrip added to the clamp or the computer chip added to the clamp for ESB (there were some minor changes to the hilt between ANH and ESB just Google it). When the prequels came around instead of using another vintage Graflex for Anakins saber the props department made a lightsaber that closely resembled the vintage Graflex but also fit the look of the prequels. So yes it's canonically the same saber but the props changed between movies.
I would like to know if the Lucasfilm Story Group has come up with an in-cannon explanation as to why Anakin/Luke's and Obi-Wan's sabers changes slightly in between ROTS and ANH and, Luke's between ANH and ESB. I like the idea that Obi-Wan, while in exile, had to maintain both sabers in working condition, and the only available replacement part he had access to was the junk on Tatooine. Maybe that's why they look more rustic than art deco, more like a tool than a weapon? Then like father like son, Luke couldn't resist tinkering with it and made his own mods.
JAKMRNDA I like that idea. But that doesn't explain why it looks different in the new trilogy. My guess is that Young Ben Solo found it at Cloud City when Han was visiting Lando. It was broken from the fall so he replaced a few parts and then he later ditched it for the crossguard lightsaber. That's why he recognized it when Finn pulled it out.
+Litebikeman 97 Another good theory but if you really look at the new prop its no that different from ESB. The only things that are really different between the saber in 5 and 7 is the clamp is a little different and the small button on the bottom changes. It goes from being small with a glass eye in 4, to a large one with a red eye in 5 ,then back in 7. One significant change I've noticed is it now looks like that the grips aren't just riveted to the sides any more, but look like one piece wrapped around the bottom of the saber...Just throwing a theory out there...like your imput..about Luke's green lightsaber...I wonder, since synthetic lightsaber crystals are now "Legends", could Luke's crystal come from the wreck of the 1st Death Star? A weapon of darkness turned to one of light?Any thoughts?
Yeah, that’s the biggest trade off. I wish they could do both make sounds/lights and fully collapse. That would be the ultimate lightsaber toy, but they’d be big like the Mickey Mouse lightsaber I reviewed.
The Dan-O Channel I have one, Mace Windus. When i press a button, the whole sword coming out and it have sound and light. Don't know if they still making those :/
Doctor Disco Anakin's, Vader stole it from Anakin which was taken by Obi Wan and given to Luke, then to Rey, destroyed by her and Kylo, and then rebirthed by a dying Luke.
I love the mort plastic-y, non light up sabers. Reminds me of the savers released during the prequel era where you had to hold down the button and flick the saber to get the blade out. I had tons of ‘em
I love how accurate the Anakin/Luke/Rey saber is to episodes 5, 7 and 8. Got this set for $15 on clearance. I want the episode 3 version you compare it to now.
Thanks for the advice I picked me up this set today eight after this video I picked it up at Walmart and me and my brother were battling and it was awesome I SUPER AND LIKED GREAT VID
Hi I have picked up a new lightsaber which you haven't reviewed yet and don't know if you have it in America and that's the new mace windu lightsaber electronic.
The reason for the hilt differences between Anakins and Luke.
I prefer the ones that do not light up because the light up ones do not collapse all the way to the hilt. Theres that big part that always sticks out making them not as fun, PLUS they are better for play. You can whack them and not worry about dislodging the light pieces or cracking the plastic.
Reason why they made Anakin's/Luke's/Rey's lightsaber different for that pack; is because they did that to replicate the screen accurate hilt as seen in the movie, and not just another lazy ROTS Anakin hilt just to justify the set. Which is a good thing considering that it's the first time we get a screen accurate representation of the Graflex Skywalker lightsaber in toy form (TFA Rey Lightsaber kinda counts considering that it's based on ESB's hilt).
There are some differences on the Anakin lightsaber and the Rey lightsaber because when the lightsaber fell down the pit and was then found, they basically refurbished it because it had broken parts, due to falling hundreds of feet down a hole and then hitting the ground with impact. (Wouldn't advise throwing a lightsaber down a pit).
Just got these today, here’s my own personal review: This product is... ok The main problem is that it was really hard to get the blade back in the hilt. I kept having to hit it so hard to go back in, it would hurt my hand. And only after a few hours of using it, it had gotten those white marks, that you get on plastic on you bend it. Now I can’t even push the blades back in, I have to hit it on the ground to get them in. They stay in the hilt good, and they come out good, but like I said, it’s really hard to get the blades back in, to the point where I have to hit it in the ground, cause it hurts my hand to much to keep “slapping” it in. Idk if all of them are like this, thinking about getting the “Spring Action” lightsabers, hopefully I won’t have the same problem.
You know I think the whole blade builder thing is pretty dope but what ever happens to pressing s button to release the blade. Because these do not have that I have so many issues with them not closing properly or bending 😩
the reason anakin's lightsaber and luke's are slightly different is because in the lore when obi wan took the lightsaber from anakin at the end of revenge of the sith he modified it so that it would be easier for luke to use, then I think luke took it and modified it again because it was slightly different over the time of a new hope and empire strikes back.
I really want one of these basic lightsabers because they retract fully into the hilt but the electronic lightsabers are on sale for the same price, which one should I get?! Lol
They are pretty strong but they are toys meant for play fighting. Enough FULL FORCE COMBAT could break them eventually. But for the price I’d say go add it.
I know I’m a little late, but I just got this set today! Does anyone remember or know where the effect app code is? Is it on the box? Instructions? Or does it not have one and that’s what he meant by saying they stopped updating it? Thanks!
It’s compatible with the app but you have to use coins to unlock the effect. It’s not like the others that came with a code. There are a bunch of lightsaber effects and what they want you to do is film yourself swinging the lightsaber and then it walks you through placing the effect in your video.
The Bladebuilders version of the Skywalker Lightsaber's hilt is one of the most beautiful versions out there. Accurate, shiny and metallic-looking enough while also being affordable. Certainly looks better than the 2002 version of the same lightsaber.
@@commscan314 Exactly. The bladebuilders version has great, detailed painting. I think that luke did modifications like the buttons but i think maz did some as well when she got a hold of it like the bottom and the ring
ram ona train in newyork that is a possibility.
Hasbro should do force link with the non electronic lightsabers to still make sounds.
What's playing in the back is Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens
I think Obi Wan was the one who modified Anakin’s lightsaber after the battle on Mustafar and during exile for Luke, later for Rey.
Nice to finally see some more fully telescopic savers
I'm listening to the vid but watching the movie in the background😂🤣😂
The force awakens is on the screen behind you

It’s available in both places. If I said I bought it on amazon that was a mistake. But you can buy it on amazon now.

One is screen accurate from the original trilogy and sequel and the old one is from the prequel trilogy/clone wars version

I prefer the standard ones for dueling, and the light-up ones for style.
I love the ones that don't light up

Emre Ergün I'd probably say the collapsible one.
