For the toilet brush, i keep my canister filled with pine sol (which I dump out and refill every once in a while. After I use the brush I flush a couple times and let the clean water rinse my brush off so that it's somewhat cleaner before placing back into the pine sol. I also pour a little bit of the pine sol into the toilet bowl when cleaning and it works amazingly! It smells so good, my brush/canister never even remotely smells bad, and no gross things grow on it since the pine sol is itself a cleaner =)
Such a nice tip. I'm gonna apply that in my house. Thank you for sharing.

I am a minimalist however I do have hobbies that require numerous items to engage in them (baking for example) and I felt that "Let me organize my stuff in peace" mood. Some people can so easily forget that everyone comes from a different place, nothing is one size fits all.
I live for a clean sink. I also like putting a few essential oil drops in my sink in the evenings after the kitchen is closed. Makes it smell great and feel fresh in the morning!
I keep things picked up, clean and always cleaning up my kitchen. Makes my days feel less chaotic. I am also very visually stimulated, so if my house if together... my brain feels more together :)
Yes I have 3 dogs that go up on the sofas, I bought those covers and they helped, but found I need to wash them weekly, sometimes mire often, it was headache, so what I use now in between washings is King or Queen size flat bedsheets,, they work great and I can fold them and store them under the sofa cushions for a quick change when needed. I buy them at thrift stores very cheap, and I can Chang the patter and color to fit my mood.

I'm down with a chest infection at the moment and feeling dreadful with it. My house is a mess and it highlights how much I just go around picking up after everyone. I think I need to get my family on board with some of these tips
I have 4 children & one pregnant maltipoo Dog and can’t keep anything at all tidy they make it their mission to mess stuff up. Theses tips are definitely needed. Thank you ❤
The “picking up and putting away part” is especially important, when coming home with the kids or with groceries. I have everyone take off their shoes, jackets, hats, mittens,… and put them to where they actually belong (prevents piles in the hall) plus I force myself to unpack all the groceries before sitting down or doing everything else. This way, when dinner time rolls around I am not unpleasantly surprised by piles of groceries lingering in the kitchen. It does take a LOT of discipline though…so to all the moms out there: have some grace with yourself, when your house is not picked up ALL the time. As Angie said: let’s aim for 80% :) Pareto Principle.
just a suggestion, toilet holders and brushes puts me off too so try the disposable ones u can buy from costco and sams, they are great u dispose off the disc after every use , just keep a container with water and rinse the plastic stick and put it back after drying with toilet paper and i dont have a container for it so i just put it in a plastic bag and that goes in my cabinet that i use only for cleaning my restroom and i have these sticks in multiples in every restroom cabinet and even one separate one that i use to clean my wash basins and shower when they need an extra scrub. I am on the lookout for a container so that i can keep it or hold it near the toilet seat.
I don't have as many kids as you, I only have 5, but what really helps is no shoes on inside. With 7 of us it really helps! Also, i really dislike purses/bags on my kitchen counter and tables 🤢 Love the essential oil tips- thank you for great tips!! 👍
and i hate people bringing outside shoes on my main area rugs, it just annoys me , it can be vaccumed to remove dust and other particles but what annoys me is that those shoes go everywhere even public restrooms so its making rugs gross with all the filth.
We had charcoal for our fish tank filter, I’ve put some of that in containers in our bin under the bin bag. Works a treat without covering one smell with another. Absorbs the smells
I’m 21 weeks pregnant with my second child and I needed this video for motivation today! I always try to do a deep clean around the house the weekend before any holiday and I was thinking of skipping this one time… but thanks to you… I already have the living room half finished, just vacuuming and mopping left in here now. And I’m feeling accomplished! I’m also going to try that essential oil trick on the toilet brush! NOW essential oils had a candy cane one from last Christmas that I hope they bring back this year because I LOVE my house to smell like candy canes and Christmas trees all of November and December!
Dana's first book, "Managing Your Home Without Losing Your Mind" was the one thing that helped me SO much. I read her blog before that. Her decluttering book, while also great, is a lot of things from the first book, repeated. But without everything from the first book, and delves so much deeper into actually decluttering.. She has a podcast too (a slob comes clean), where she goes over all of the things. She's my hero lol took my house from crazy pants to calm. ☺️
I was thinking the same .., I do wish she had said who the author was … to give them credit .. but does sound like Dana k white … I can hear her in my head saying her take it ther now x
Oh my gosh I've been wanting a vacuum tool to assist me with grooming Finlee my English cream golden retriever. The shedding with this wonderful breed is real! Thanks!
Great tips! I can’t believe you have 8 kids. You look amazing!! I love your witty personality!!!Your home is beautiful. Maybe you could show us some dinner meal ideas that you make? More videos like the redo of the girls room!
I keep falling behind in a message I want to convey. This is re heartfelt changes you want to make going forward re content and new phases in life you are entering especially re adopting and raising human beings. I have watched you since you started filming. I watched because you were such a bright light. And admired your skills to get things done, and frankly, all family members looked well taken care of. I watch 5 or 6 families because they raise my hopes that good people in all walks of life still exist. I am particularly pleased to see parents that are raising smart, well tempered, and good citizens. I also enjoy homesteaders, full time sailors, and animal lovers. You are a good person, a thoughtful person, like these others. And I love your kindness and forthrightness. You have much to share. I think your photography is a great way to keep us in touch with those great kids, if that is suitable. The design and look of your site and emails is like you, easy on the eyes.
Yes, Shining my Sink is a game changer, not only how the kitchen looks, more importantly how I feel, it makes me smile when I see a clean sink in the morning,, great way to start the day! And throughout the day, I feel like cooking more when my sink and kitchen are clean.
Bought the sofa protector and loved it so much I bought one for my daughter (she has 3 dogs)! She loved it and bought one for her sister! Such a life changer for all of us!
Two things I live by, leave it better than I found it and what’s in this room that needs to go where I’m going and I take it with me. I got the last one from my years in the service industry, no empty hands. 😅
Just had a flashback to the “old house” when Benji got hold of the toilet brush after one the boys had replaced without cleaning it and little Benji dragged it around your bedroom floor and bedding 😂😂 the absolute horror on your face. I can honestly say I was crying with laughter. Those where the days 😊
Great tips, especially about piles. Thats me!! Unfortunately. We use covers made from fleece fabric for our furniture. When it gets dirty, you just whip it off and wash it, dry it, no ironing. Saves wear and tear on the upholstery. Also cozy in the winter.
I raised a family of 4 children. Picking things up as you go and putting them away where they go was my golden rule of survival. Once my husband and myself had to go out of town for a few days. I had an older single lady stay at my house while we were gone. The kids were all teenagers and knew when they had to be home and no friends. The next Monday I saw this lady at work. I asked her how it went. She said the kids were great, but they sure don't pick up after themselves. I replied oh great I at least I know you were at the right house. 😂
hallelujah! love tips! and the one that for me that has made the most sense is the one that you touched on about putting stuff away not down. I have always told my kids and husband it doesn't take any longer to put something away where it belongs as it does to just set it down where you are. thanks for the tips! we are empty nesters now, but I have a husband that makes more messes then all 3 of my kids together did! xoxo
For laundry I just use 3 or 4 spoons of washing soda crystals and some drops of lemon or lavender essential oil. It does everything. No need for toxic laundry detergent, fragrance or softeners. Works a treat.
I’m right there with you...somewhere between a museum and horder! I settle on “we live here and it’s going to look like we live here, but I want it to be clean enough so that we want to live here.”
We only have 1 kid and these tips are still epic. Why? 1. We also have 2 cats and a dog. 2. We live in the brother at where it rains a lot which means dirt dirt dirt. 3. So many of these are applicable even for single people! Really enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing.
At 7:00 when you were talking about the brush? In our house I call it "OHIO" = Only Handle It Once. I've also followed FlyLady off and on over the years. I've FINALLY got my husband shining the sink!
Put it away is definitely a game changer! I’m really bad about not doing that with important papers. Instead I leave huge piles in a few places. Then I stress out when I need something or when I go to file them. 😬🤦♀️
A great advice for the bin.I use essential oil in the burner and candles in my kitchen . I have a lemon scent sanitized near the bin. Clean as you go. Im the same put it where it stays. I tell my 3 kids
Soon to have a house Of 10 too and that is why I buy ikea furniture as the entire cover comes off, not only on the cushions but the arms, back etc for washing in the machine. And it dries fast! I do it after the kids go to bed and it’s on by morning and ready to go and take another beating😂 but we live on a farm too and our animals are everywhere. It’s fun but ya…farm smells haha. Gonna put some oils in my toilet brush holder and bottom of trash can so thanks for that tip!
Hi there sweetie pie hope you are well great ideas I always to a 10 minute walk around before I go to bed lounge room Kitchen and bathroom before I go to bed it is good start to the day love from Eugenie your friend xxx 🐕🍁🌻💕
You have a Great Pyrenees. You have passed my "floof-management credibility" check. ✅ Before I saw your house-bear, I was like, "..yeah right, they probably don't even get the shedding level of floof piles that we get at home, pfft!' BUUT, I NOW STAND CORRECTED.😳 Thanks for sharing your tips! 🙏 💗🌿
Great tips! I would love to know how to scent laundry with essentials rather than commercially prepared mixtures. Since having cancer at 40, I avoid toxins as much as possible. ❤
I've got a sink full of dishes, and I keep putting it off. My dishwasher failed and I've got those dishes to do too. I must get them done! The scent beads are so bad for the environment, but they smell so good! I have to stop myself from using them.
I keep a plastic packet in my freezer and throw all meat wrappers vegetables peels basically anything that makes ur trash can smell. Then when it is the day the bin trucks come i throw it in the bin.
It’s so funny, the fly lady is the routine that gave me so much anxiety. I felt like a failure because I just couldn’t keep a clean sink lol glad that feeling is gone, but I just can’t do it. I’d rather deal with dishes in the morning while cooking breakfast then after dinner when I’m exhausted. Love these tips though! I’ve been doing some of these things over the last few years and they have been life changing!
We have 8 kids and we definitely can't leave the mess all day ; we do several pickups a day too. It's funny how many disclaimers you feel you need to make as if it's not normal to have to deal withreal life beings who make messes and live in a world that tends towards entropy!
I too have that picky nose. My husband calls me a human bloodhound. Lol my kids are 30 and 26 and I’ve been FlyLady since they were tiny guys. The sink, toilet, and clean bedding make my life so much easier.
I have a newborn and was just thinking this morning about how I am going to manage keeping things so clean with our 6 pets. I see pet hair on her things and it gives me anxiety. I was needing this video today. ◡̈
Love these tips. Norwex has 2 toilet brushes with baclock in them which cause them to NOT get nasty. I'm a Norwex consultant if you'd like to grab one. I've had the ergonomic toilet brush for 5 yrs and it still looks new. It's AMAZING. They've come out with a new one that holds the cleaner for you. Been enjoying you for yrs. Keep up the AWESOME work
In the past, I've tried putting things in a bin as I go around, then when I get the chance, I take them to where they belong, but it's as if they are calling out to me or mocking me somehow(brain matter). Therefore, I went back to putting things in their spot right away, even if I'm collecting them in a bin to make it easier. I really love the tip for the garbage bins, I was using paper towels for that purpose. Also love the toilet brush tip. I'll give them a try.
Synthetic Scented laundry has become so incredibly toxic. The number of people that get sick from it is growing so fast. I can't even visit in anyone's home anymore, and thrifted clothing is almost impossible. In the last 5 years I have found that even washing scented clothes 10 times, does not budge the scent.
I’m with you on that…. Too many scents added to everything. I like my scented laundry detergent because it’s subtle… but not oils in everything or adding scent beads
It’s horrible! I’m still trying to figure out a wash that will get rid of the smell from my Goodwill clothes, I have 4 boys that go through jeans like popsicles, I hate scented anything, I could get a headache just walking by the candles section…
Have you tried borax to get smells out? I think it's decent. Also I found Molly's Suds laundry "detergent" to be truly unscented. It's just minerals that clean your clothes. Even tide free and clear has a chemical smell 😬....
@Lydia Clayton I have, but it's not the best process for some fabrics, especially the gently used high end hunting gear my husband got for a song. 10 washes and 2 months on the clothesline thru several rainstorms with no change.
We just got a rescue Great Pyrenees and literally minute you mentioned the pet grooming vacuum I went and bought it 😂😂 I hate pet hair! But we have 5 animals in our house! I am SO excited for this vacuum.
Things that made me smile: “smelling like a brothel” and those of us who are “maxi-mists.”😂😅❤ Love it. I have been known to say I’m “wholistic” not like totally holistic granola type, but I use essential oils & I eat chocolate nearly every day even though I don’t eat fast food every day, but we eat it sometimes. So I’m a bit of junky and a bit of neat/healthy= WHOLE. Ha ha
We have 6 kids, 5 are teenagers. When you said this is for those with a bunch of kids. All of what you said hit home 🙌 the fact that 5 are teenagers is like living with 5 other roommates. When they were little it was easier everything was organized because it was up to me 😅thank you for your content!!
Haha! Try keeping up with an Old Man with sticky fingers and muddy shoes! Oh and two rescue dogs who are constantly needing to relearn house training. Love you tips! ❤
Great IDEAS. I USE BIG BLANKETS TO PROTECT MY FURNITURE. DOESNT LOOK GOOD. BUT MY FURNITURE IS STILL LOOKING GOOD. THANKS🎃😊. GREAT IDEAS. SEE YOU ON HOUR NEXT ADVENTURE 😅. LOL
This is great! Is your big white floof a great pyrenees?? I too have a 120lb white polar bear child, along with a few human teens :) the home grooming kit and furniture ideas are super helpful!

The scent beads are so bad for the environment, but they smell so good! I have to stop myself from using them.
Oh how I needed this today!! ❤
I love your attitude, -this is it, we can make it as pleasant as possible!
As an owner of a big dog (alongside toddler) I agree about grooming & sofa cover - savers for sure !!
I'm first! So happy to see a video from you! 💐
I keep a plastic packet in my freezer and throw all meat wrappers vegetables peels basically anything that makes ur trash can smell. Then when it is the day the bin trucks come i throw it in the bin.
I do the same especially in Summer!
I do pine sol in my garbage bin and toilet brush thing. It kills the bacteria and smells so nice!
I really enjoy watching you, you are down to earth and funny!
Great tips! We have 3 kids, and we are always home. It's hared to keep up!
Constantly fighting the kid/pet stink. So thank you for this video lol
“That’s what she said”
That killed me 😂
I have a newborn and was just thinking this morning about how I am going to manage keeping things so clean with our 6 pets. I see pet hair on her things and it gives me anxiety. I was needing this video today. ◡̈
Clorox toilet wand is a game changer!
I saw a tiktok for somebody with adhd "don't put it down. Put it away." I use that all the time now
Love these tips.
Tide is what I use . I like my clothes to smell clean and have no smell
Pro housekeeper switch to the Clorox toilet wand. LOVE them :)
We just got a rescue Great Pyrenees and literally minute you mentioned the pet grooming vacuum I went and bought it 😂😂 I hate pet hair! But we have 5 animals in our house! I am SO excited for this vacuum.

Tip number 5 sounds like a Dana K White tip.
I subscribed just now ..because I have 8 kids like you😇👍🤗..and because you are soo amazing 🌹
Ha ha
Thank you for the tips..love the cleaning, shopping and homeschool videos you make 😊
We have 6 kids, 5 are teenagers. When you said this is for those with a bunch of kids. All of what you said hit home 🙌 the fact that 5 are teenagers is like living with 5 other roommates. When they were little it was easier everything was organized because it was up to me 😅thank you for your content!!
"You take this tool, and vacuum your pet." lol
LOL
Lots of great tips. Thank you
I *love* (!) your dry humour. ☆
This is great! Is your big white floof a great pyrenees?? I too have a 120lb white polar bear child, along with a few human teens :) the home grooming kit and furniture ideas are super helpful!
Yes, it is!
I love the intro 😂 smell like u have children and pets 😂 that’s a stunner ❤
Great tips Angie. I like to put some of the toilet bowl cleaner in the bottom of the toilet brush holder just a bit.
