Testing of used motor oil at 100°C Motul 5100 4T 10W40 after 3,300km
What do the tests show?
- Oil quality test. The tester tests the alkalinity of the oil. New oil means 100%. The harder the oil is used, the lower the percentage.
- Friction test. The new sample is subjected to friction with metal against metal under a load of 2 kg for 1 minute. The sample diameter is then measured at its lowest point. Each new sample has a diameter of 2.92. The lower the result the better.

I have used this oil for my KTM 125 EXC since I have had it from 70 hours. The engine was fully rebuilt at 250 hours and the intention was to replace the clutch discs. I was predicting the discs would very worn since I do a lot of super slow and technical riding where I am slipping the clutch a lot.
However the mechanic who was doing the engine told me the clutch is in brand new like condition and recommended to leave the clutch as is.
So this oil definetly did it's job and saved me money, I highly recommend this and will definitely use this in the future too.

Hey! Great tests! I saw this and the old one and both are great. Just a question; could you please establish like a "zero ground" (like a not oily baseline test) so we can tell it it's more effective than nothing?

How comes you do have such variations between rounds one time it was amazing and the next time it’s just good. All oils are not just out of the box friction jig test, how about real mileage mixing with fuel and carbon after 1000nds of miles.
What does it mean ? It should be changed on 3300km ? Or it could last longer ?
Moge ci przesłać do testu olej Penrite 5w50 na estrach do testu po 8 tyś przebiegu i 2 latach, mam też z pół litra nowego. Mam też jeszcze pozostałość Motul'a 10w40 300v z roku 2005, kiedy jeszcze miały podwójne estry.Można przetestować i porównać w stosunku do dzisiejszych Motuli. Podejrzewam, że jakość pewnie spadła.

Ja jade na shellu od nowosci 5w40 clio 1.2 400tyś za chwile i 0 zużycia silnika nie dymi nie bierze oleju. Nie wiem czy te testy są wiarygodne
