I too liked the two tone blue boat with the sporty bow. Even better, you managed to get double headed class 90s on a container train in the same picture! 👍
the mural in the tunnel was not because ppl of Rugby seem to be sporty, it was done to celebrate the fact that the game of Rugby was invented in Rugby hence its name as the game name Rugby was named after the city name
Yeah, i miss England. Felt right at home from the first minute and its so beautiful. So, little jalouse here, but enjoyed your video!! Thank you again.
love your vlogs especially the diary's being in the states we dont have beautiful little towns like you have and none nearly as old thanks for showing them to us
Well done Tim on successfully mastering that tricky bend onto the North Oxford Canal 👏👏 It's surprising (to oneself) how much your skills improve via repetition when you permanently cruise. The weather was on your side too ☀️. Take care - and keep chugging.
Great job Tim navigating the tricky bits and both of you being such positive role models for chugging along❣️ Congratulations on your speed goals Too- impressive 🥰 Rugby seems such a nice old town❗️
How fabby to see you both thriving. I love your gentle approach to these vlogs. You each come across as so self assured and engaged with your chosen way of life. Thank you. xxxx
Another great vlog guys. Nice cornering Tim around that hairpin bend onto the North Oxford, I'll be honest I didn't expect you to make it in one go. Until the next vlog, stay safe
Hi Sam and Tim, Another great Vlog this week. Tim many congrats on a superb navigational moment turning into the North Oxford canal. You were brilliant. Beautiful scenery on this week's cruise. Rugby looked a nice little town. Did you know that Rugby League was started in Huddersfield. In the late 1890's Rugby Union (in Rugby Town) split into the two games, with Rugby league being formed in Huddersfield. I've seen the plaque on the wall of the Hotel where it happened. Rugby used to be famous for "Rugby (town) Radio Station". There were over 50 transmitter Masts standing 250 meters high. Traveling up and down to London on the train, it was an amazing site to see. This Radio station was set up by the Government in the 1920's and broadcasts to the Commonwealth were made from there. Sadly none of these masts are there anymore due to the advancement of Radio technology. They have all been demolished. Sam it's probably coincidence, but you seem to walk on the gunnels quite a lot on the Vlogs. Yes I know, that is a useless bit of observation. Guys I love your Vlogs, they are always very interesting. Thank you. Have a great week and Take care.
An always relaxing, beautiful and storybook like trip along the English canals. I find watching your vlogs soothing and of course, quite entertaining. Stay groovy and stay safe.
Watching you drive your boat, I sometimes think that, as a continental European, I’d probably keep more to the right side than you on the road - um canal … and yes, I know the middle is least likely to have hidden obstacles to catch your bottom. Nevertheless, the camera perspective seems to show you even have a bias to the left (on narrower canals without any traffic, at least). I always give you a thumbsup! Even without your Rugby cola ;) Aqueducts are something amazing! And I am happy to remember you think so, even as boaters (who are more used to this sort of thing). And yes, I have to take some time out and watch a few videos from before I joined your channel :D Well, may be later in the year. Have a good time - looking forward to what comes!
Om the working boats a crew members took a long line off the bow in the narrows and loosely wrapped it round the bollard provided under the bridge which swung the boat round and lined it up to the stoplock.
There seem to be quite a few very long narrowboats moored on the part of the system you're passing through here. Presumably, the locks in the area are long enough for them, though they'd have problems in other parts.
Thank you for sharing your journey. The North Oxford is lovely. I was glad to hear you had some lock free cruising for a bit. Take good care. (Did you get your greyhound yet?)
It just occurred to me that I have not noticed narrowboats using old auto tyres for fenders, which used to be common on the fishing boats where I grew up. Am I not observant, or are tyres declasse?
Hi Alan, we have seen it a couple of times and it must be effective. They're quite big and heavy. You'd also have to lift them up when you go into a narrow lock so it's a bit of an inconvenience. Thanks for your comment as always. Keep chugging 😁👍👍🏾
Nice video! I found a couple of places that would be suitable for me to sell my house in the states and relocate near the Oxford. I don’t know that I would do so simply for the opportunity to say “Keeeeep CHUgging!”, but I wouldn’t pass up the chance, should it come my way. I keep wondering, when you go into a town or village, where you stop and what you do. You can film it…or not..but I am puzzling out why I think it is important. I don’t have a ready answer. Just a quick “we went in to the local grocery to pick up a few supplies or they had a very nice optician there. Sam had a screw loose (on her glasses! Cut it out!) and they fixed her up on the spot! Or whatever. And I still can’t say why I am concerned about the minor details, if actual concern is a real exaggeration but..::::shrug::::: who knows.

Impressive cornering onto the North Oxford 👏. Must be nice knowing you've got a lengthy lock free stretch.
I too liked the two tone blue boat with the sporty bow. Even better, you managed to get double headed class 90s on a container train in the same picture! 👍
Glad you noticed. If we started recording a second later we would've missed the locos

Rugby School is where the game of Rugby developed…when during a football game Webb Ellis picked the ball up and ran with it……
There seem to be quite a few very long narrowboats moored on the part of the system you're passing through here. Presumably, the locks in the area are long enough for them, though they'd have problems in other parts.
Yes, pretty sure they're around 70ft long locks
Thank you for sharing your journey. The North Oxford is lovely. I was glad to hear you had some lock free cruising for a bit. Take good care. (Did you get your greyhound yet?)

So Tim...is it just me or does Mary L have a list to port? Rugby looks like a real pretty town.
Hi Christian, yes, you're right. We need to get that sorted out! Keep chugging

I wondered about the clearance in the locks; and these days auto tires certainly do tend to be big and heavy.
When is the next cook-off?
Good question Vee! Hopefully in the summer 😁👍👍🏾 Keep chugging
I'm glad the road wasn't Rt 6-66 Oh nooooo!!!!!
Haha! Keep chugging Galen :)
