    The IQ saw is awesome when it’s working. We constantly have something going wrong with the two we use.

    I have used one for around 6 months now. Your saw blade looks way better then the one that came with our saw. Ours is already shot. It sure beats bending over for a few hours making cuts. It isn't 100% dust free. Even 90% less dust is sure a lot better though. We use ours for a masonry company.

    • @iamahardscaper
      @iamahardscaper  2 года назад

      Yeah I think they changed the blades that it comes with. Definitely will do with 90% less dust.

    I have the same saw . Its not curring true and perpendicular. If you watch the blade while cutting you can see it shift to the side if you are the snaklest bit out of square when pushing the cut through.

    I’m doing exactly the same pool coping right now for my pool ,so far you have given so much good advice to me by listening to your videos !

    What are you using to mark the cuts on a cap?

    • @iamahardscaper

      I usually use a soapstone pencil, I think this is just soapstone that I am using. If you are cutting wet, some guys use a wax pencil.

    Could you discuss how you plan to finish the coping after all cuts are done and pieces are glued? How do you keep poly sand from getting into pool?

    • @iamahardscaper
      @iamahardscaper  Год назад

      We will be using a resin compound for the joints, not poly in this project. But we are tight fitting these coping so there will be noting in between them.

      @@iamahardscaper Resin compound? I am not familiar. Can you explain? I did a pool this year with porcelain 3/4 inch pavers. I mortered the coping because I didn't know other options.

    Good morning !
    I need to have your experience and expertise , I’m doing pavers on a concrete slab around my pool I will be beding sand up to and inch ,but my problème is that at some places more towards the exterior the end of the concrete slab I have to go higher than a inch.
    My question is
    Can I go from sand to pea gravel to raise it to about 2 inches !!
    Thank you for your opinion
    Pierre

    • @iamahardscaper
      @iamahardscaper  2 года назад +1

      Unfortunately you cannot. Are you able to build that difference into your slope? Increase the slope from your pool to the exterior by 1” over that distance

    did you ever come across a pool with a tight radius curve ,working with 6 inch wide paver coping , and when you butt them up the gap is wider then the coping ?almost a sliver but how do you figure out the equal cuts to make the sweep? thanks in advance

    • @iamahardscaper
      @iamahardscaper  Год назад +1

      I don’t have a good calculation for it, I just start with what looks right and cut them in place and then start to cut them more if I need to. You can cut the coping down straight without the curve and space them out. Then measure the gaps and that is where you would need to be.

    • @getreal268
      @getreal268 Год назад +1

      I made templates with cardboard and it worked out , I measured the front and the back side of the opening when it gets straight and dived into equal parts it ended uo working out ..I always cut my pavers as you did ,but in this situation it was a weird radius ..thanks for the reply ..

    If you have a 1/2" grout line (matching existing on a repair) does this technique still work, or do you have to account for the grout line width? Could use a spacer on the big edge, but you can't feel that nice flush bull nose in the front with a spacers/gap. Also, measuring an inch looking over the top of a bull nose on a wall with tile and plaster is difficult and inconsistent. Shouldn't you measure from the back of the brick to the pool wall edge or make a mark on each brick at same distance. It is easier to see/make out from back to pool wall.

    • @JT-jg8le
      @JT-jg8le 3 месяца назад +1

      If you are going to measure from the front, maybe a little 1" fixed jig would help with easier and faster measuring at the front/bull nose.

    • @iamahardscaper
      @iamahardscaper  3 месяца назад

      yes you would just need to take into factor the 1/2". Yeah you are absolutely correct measuring the back to the pool wall

    Dude if your planning to leave the metal copping & concrete concrrete patio that is already 8.5 to 9.5 inches above the water surface then lay your patio in top of that " YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOUR SELF" it is already 14-15" to the top of the 1st step inside the pool your going to add 2.5 more inches to that let alone the astetics of the double copping..... If your going to do all your cut lable then pick them up demo them install a new liner lock then reset your going to have alot of recuts and then excuse my assumtion, But I think your getting ready to take the easy lets make $$ and run route..& jobs like that give all in the industry a bad name. you definatly did not apprentice under a master mason cause I would never approve of a layover and dont know any of fellow tradesmen that would
