    excellent points made here brother!!! I love your comparison of the different soles to different types of tires, they each have their unique purpose! I agree, dainite is a wonderful middle-of-the-road sole that is great for everyday general purposes!!!

    The thing about Dainite soles, is that for most people, most of the time; They. Just. Work. Sure, there are better soles for specific tasks out there, but for a true general purpose sole, a Dainite is hard to beat. It's also worth remembering just how much of a revolutionary design they were when they first came out. At the time, the options were pretty much either a plain leather sole for town/formal wear, or a leather sole with hobnails for country/work wear. Then, in 1910, the Dainite sole came out, pretty much paving the way for the branded replacement sole industry...
    Oh, and as a PS, check out William Lennon Boots. I think they may be just your thing...

    The 430 sole is my favorite one. I don't know this for fact, but specifically the one Nicks and White's uses. It's cushiony but still grippy and long lasting. The one on Red Wings is JUNK. Hard. It's slick and has less bounce. This might be good for wear and tear, but it's rough on your feet and knees. Dainite isn't bad. It has my favorite profile but it's kind of dangerous. I've had too many close calls with it. I try to avoid it when possible.

      Miguel Vargas this is really good input; thank you for posting it. I have not tried 430 on Nicks or Whites, but now you make me want to. I’ve only tried the Red Wing version. Makes me wonder if the difference isn’t the actual 430 but instead the fact that Red Wing IRs have no real midsole, which is often the source of their extreme discomfort. Will have to look into this.....And yes, Dainite and ice/water/oil is a very scary and dangerous combo. Thanks for watching👍🏽

      @@thevintagefuture6567 I thought the same thing about the IR's but I think it is a different version of the 430. It's a lot slicker. I've worn it at my local mall and have almost busted my ass. My white's or nicks never had that problem with their 430. It's grippy as hell and has a nice bounce. And for sure, big fan of your content. You've picked up the torch IMO. A lot of the other boot channels haven't really been doing it for me lately. So your content is always welcomed in my feed.

      Miguel Vargas ok wow, that’s super interesting about your 430 experiences. I’m quite intrigued now:) Gotta try different 430s at some point....which Nicks/Whites do you have, by the way? My first Nicks (BPs) are arriving in March. I can’t wait!....and I’m super stoked you find the channel worthwhile. Lemme know if you ever have an idea for a video you’d want me to do👍🏽 I try to do stuff that wasn’t available when I needed it most.

    Leather soles are my favorite, they have good grip in most cases however I did slip down a flight of stairs so don't go running down slippery wooden floors especially after waxing/treating the leather soles.

    the vibram 430 is the best sole in my opinion..the one that is black... the brown one which is used by redwing is brown and is made of a different compund ie nitrile..it lasts a long long time but it provides less grip than the black one... also the vibram version of dainite is called eton and its way way more grippy than dainites but is slightly less long lasting..

    Once the Dainite lugs wear down then the rest of the sole takes a lot longer to wear out. I've worn out a few Dainite soles and they get soft and more flexible until you feel a lot more ground beneath the sole and then it is time to replace them.
    You're right that they are really "urban" soles and designed to have a low profile and for "country" use in wet and muddy UK you would typically have much deeper lugged soles.

    Danite were the first synthetic soled shoes/ boots, I ever had.
    I paid £100 in sale at a gun shop UK. That was closing down I was dubious about the sole and the original £650, price tag. Though ten tears latter when GF tried to buy me another pair, the only ones she could find were second hand £350. So my original purchase was a real bargain. Never worn any other sole since, excepting trainers. The thing I loved most was they didn't look agricultural, and when things went wrong, I didn't have to worry nearly as much about treacherous leather soles.

    Nice review!
    Personally I'm a city guy so I love the Dainite! I work as a nurse on very slippery floors so I can't use leather soles but the Dainite are perfect for gripping on flat floors and they're bouncy enough to walk in them for 8-10 hours. I think the wedge soles would work too but I don't really like their look.

    One thing I wish oem bootmakers would install their dainites with a channel stitch; neither of my Allen Edmonds dainites are channel stitched unfortunately. Maybe that’s just an allen edmonds thing but I dont think so according to cobblers plus RUclips channel

    • @thevintagefuture6567
      @thevintagefuture6567  3 года назад

      Yes! Great observation! A channel stitch would be amazing. Granted, the sole probably stays on fine even if the stitches wear through, but still, if the stitches are there, they may as well be better protected 🤷🏽‍♂️ Good idea

    • @thevintagefuture6567
      @thevintagefuture6567  2 года назад

      Any lug sole will be a bit better. For real icy conditions, nothing beats a boot designed for snow, which won’t be anything in the heritage boot genre unfortunately.

    • @thevintagefuture6567

      Charles Bronson nothing wrong with that! Every sole has strengths and weaknesses. I like full lug soles the best, but they’re very impractical sometimes. Wedge soles are the comfiest. 430 and Dainite are great all-around low profile soles, but the shock absorption sucks (ouch, my back:). Ridgeway looks interesting....
