- This video follows the Test Way from its northern point in Gallows Down south to Romsey a journey of some 37 miles through varied countryside with one overnight wild camping stop.
Part 2 of the journey can be found at • Test Way Pt 2 - Romsey...
The GPX file I used came from the LDWA at ldwa.org.uk/ld...
The path itself is very well sign posted and not overly challenging, enjoy.
Ahhh! Your Jack Hargreaves type voice is very reassuring!
Thank you I will take that as a complement
I watched your walk, although for much of the time I couldn't work out where you were! I have no idea why the Test Way begins on Inkpen Hill. That's a long way from the source. But then it doesn't actually follow the river and you only got a glimpse on the odd occasion. It could be followed if it wasn't for most of it being for the convenience of wealthy fishermen. However, it was nicely presented. Thanks.
I know what you mean it does not seem to follow the river course, I did this walk after I did the Itchen Way which was much more loyal to the rivers route. Sometimes too close as it was flooded at the time.
We have just come across your channel and are thoroughly enjoying learning about new routes in our local/accessible routes. We just finished our first circle route in the New Forest yesterday. Only a 7 miler. But it was superb. Have midgee bites as a medal 🏅lol. They seemed to come out later in afternoon, as if to with us farewell hahaha.
Enjoyed the video Jonathan. Hoping to walk this in August
Glad you enjoyed it and hope you enjoy the walk.
I've really enjoyed this and aim to do exactly the same. Walk the walk over two days with a wild camp
How do.
This was great. Do you remember roughly where you camped?
Thanks I camped at a place called Flock Bottom just before Middleton, but after Patchington Farm there where a number of places which where probably better. Depends on what time of day you start and how far you want to walk.
@@JonathanDowe thank you Jonathan! I shall keep that in mind. I've subscribed and look forward to future videos.
@@iagree6677 thank you,, as soon as I can I will be doing The Ridgeway. I had planned for March but we will see, after that there is quite a view planned, hoping to show a bit more of the wild camping involved on the next few.
