I don't mind the longer videos; I love your vibe and it's so nice to have your videos on while I drink tea or knit or fold laundry or something. I also like how honest you are because I recognize myself in some of the behaviors you describe and it inspires me to buy less, too. I've started monitoring what I buy and how much money I spend so I'm right there with you! :D
I absolutely love watching these videos. You’ve helped me attempt to more consciously shop without failing miserably. The wishlist method is great and I love your ideas on being gentle with yourself. You deserve it. We should ALL be more gentle with ourselves especially in regard to shopping and consuming. THINKING about our shopping is already a better step. You’re doing great (from a loving internet stranger!)
oh thank u so much that's so lovely to hear! i'm definitely seeing some changes at this point just by postponing buying something to not go over the allowed item number - so it's wonderful to hear that the wishlist is working for someone else too! stay safe 💕
Hi Andrea! Just wanted to finally pop up and say that I really enjoy your vids :) For books I would recommend Crudo by Olivia Laing, if you haven't read it yet. Such a cool lil book. Reading Luster at the moment and it's def. a page-turner, imperfect but fascinating at the same time.
The vibrator on your wishlist made me laugh so much 😂😂😂 Completely unrelated but if you have Decathlon stores in Denmark, you should really try their Aptonia sunscreen! It comes in 200ml tubes and I use it on my body and my face. It has really good ingredients and it’s like 5€ I think... A little bit more « greasy » for the summer but my über-dry skin agrees really well with it 🤷🏻♀️
haha😂 aw sadly we don’t - i feel like there are so many sunscreens we just don’t have access to in dk?? idk if it’s just because we’re in scandinavia and people are like whatever we don’t have sun anyways but we do! protect my skin pls
thank u so much💕 oh good i’m glad it helped, i can understand why it must have been a bit confusing without the visual so i’ll include that going forward!☺️
I'm not sure if you've experienced this, but I think my reason for constantly wanting things--specifically, clothing---is because the clothes I have don't feel like me. I've reached a lull in my desire to buy clothes, and it makes me think maybe I'm finally starting to have a wardrobe that actually suits me. Of course, each time that happens, it ends and I repeat the cycle lmao. I think my low buy is going well, but I can feel the urge to buy clothing bubbling up again, but I'm too indecisive to even do anything about it. Sorry to go on a tangent about myself, just wanted to know if maybe you could relate. Also, I wanted to read Men, Women, and Chainsaws a while back! If you buy it, I would love to hear what you think!
oh absolutely - i think it helped when i started buying the thing i actually wanted instead of buying similar and cheaper items (not that things aren’t allowed to be cheap but i tend to get drawn in by those expensive sustainable brands lol) - this obviously is way more expensive but that also sort of makes me buy less and forces me to consider things for longer before buying. i definitely think the rise of the ‘personal aesthetic’ as a phenomenon is something that’s feeding the urge to essentially buy a new personality via things... so i try to stay away from trends in general because it confuses me too much haha (basically it makes me unsure why i like a certain item). i’m so glad ur low buy is going well, for what it’s worth whenever i feel uncertain about my wardrobe in particular i have learned that i should just not shop because it leads to me being even more unsure of who i am and what i like (i still fail to follow this advice from time to time tbh). but omg cool yas if i get the book i will absolutely let u know what i think!!
@@AndreaJensen Ive purchased the cheaper version/not-quite-what-I-want version of things way too many times. It took me a while to learn that I’m likely saving money if I just buy the item I wanted rather than buy a somewhat similar one then still want the original item and end up buying it later. oh yeah all the trends of different aesthetics confuse me too. I almost dove into it, but I know that I don’t have to devote my entire wardrobe to one style/aesthetic. The personal aesthetics are cool but not my thing! I forgot to add this in my earlier comment, but I like long videos honestly, so I’m okay with you keeping the update videos this way!
You could think of your wish list purchases as ‘investments’ for the future. Eg: the bike would be a good investment because you can commute to work from home, and save on public transport fees as well. And, if you live in Denmark... it’s a lot more bike friendly in general I assume.
i love thinking about it like this! definitely, a bike is somewhat essential in denmark it’s really dumb that i haven’t had one for the past couple of years but it’s just so expensive so i kept putting it off. so i’m so excited to prioritize that!
@@AndreaJensen when I went to copenhagen before, everyone had a bike. there were some people who used the metro with their bikes. even my friend and his flatmates had bikes... it was a more bike friendly city in terms of safe bike lanes and terrain compared to when i had a bike in the uk. bahahha. another note, don't feel TOO guilty for buying fast fashion. you've been suckered in by corporation's "needs basis" marketing for years. :P if you find something you like that is fast fashion, opt for finding one similar secondhand (even if it is fast fashion brand as secondhand). I, myself, would love to get some clothes from sustainable brands... but i'm not made of money. For books, borrow books! either from the public library as physical or ebooks or audiobooks (digital is probably better in covid times... and for laziness?). Or find a local book sharing group. or start your own. :DD
urgh the guilt thing is so true, sometimes i think it’s also because i used to be able to afford the more expensive sustainable brands but i just can’t right now. and then anything that feels excessive to me makes me worried that i still have problems with overspending and all the things i used to struggle with so yeah, definitely have some old habits i need to break out of still!😅 the libraries have been closed down because of covid for so long now and i’m just excited to support the bookstore i used to work at from time to time at the moment, but i might start a book sharing group at some point that would be really fun!

For me, the best way to be conscious with my money, is to set a budget to each category for the year. For example for makeup, clothing and books
that’s a good idea, i def have to introduce a budget of some sort i might try ur way

@@AndreaJensen the visual is really nice and i love seeing the item as well 😊
ooh I just finished reading the weathers by offill, really liked the manner in which the story was told! different and refreshing
oh that’s so nice, i’m so glad u enjoyed it - now it might be added back to the list haha

It would be cool if you say how much money you spend at the end of the month with the low buy
okay great i’ll keep that in mind for next time!
