Nashy is the king of spanish horror....Just remember to leave reality outside of your brain and you will have a good time.
Is it just me...or does the clean shaven paul Naschy look like John Belushi? (Just me, probably)
No, I think you're right.
0:16 to 0:21 - "Ah, so it's a horror/comedy!"
Me by the end of the review - "I said what I said and I'm standing by it!"
Ah, having trouble finding your book to plug?.... Don't lose your head over it. 😆
Bela Lugosi's performances are fun.
this sounds like an older movie, Thing that Couldn't Die; similar head in a box and all that.
What a Shakespearean ending!
I remember the American version of this movie. Terrified the heck out of me when they put the head back on the body!
Same here. The Thing that wouldn't die was the name of that movie I believe 👍
@@55Quirll By the way THE THING THAT WOULDN'T DIE was satirized on the always wonderful MST3K.
@@ashleys9397 I can imagine what that sounded like 😁😁😁
One of Naschy’s best actually although that’s dammed with faint praise
Paul was a sx symbol to the ladies in Spain back in the day haha
Did White Zombie sample any of this soundtrack? Sounded familiar
This looks like a campy riot! My kinda flick. 😍
Gotta see a movie with a title like this. Almost as good as "Blood Rape of the Lust Ghouls".
Please also review Seven Murders for Scotland Yard (1972) with Naschy some day, partly filmed in the UK and Spain. 🙂
Dr. Phibes seems to be having a great time doing what he does, though he isn’t undead so I’m not sure if he has all the qualities you’re looking for.I’d also, apropos of nothing, like to say that it appears as though this movie may have been inspired somewhat by one of my favorite old exploitation horrors,The Head that Wouldn’t Die.
Fantastic piece of schlock! I wouldn't change a frame of it. Brilliant score tops it off. A masterclass of trash!
I think it is “the Thing That Wouldn’t die.”
@@666999sanford could be.I know one of those cool black and white movies,The Brain that Wouldn’t Die(The one where the surgeon tries to find a new body to graft the head of his girlfriend, who got in a car wreck,on) or this one, went by two titles, one of which was the name you mentioned.I just get confused as to which one was which.
@@pathatfield2543 it's the thing that wouldn't die for sure. The brain that wouldn't die at the end of the movie it says the head... they didn't have the money to fix it. Brilliant schlock either way.
@@alienmindwarp3455 Agreed, and thanks for the clarification
Saw this for the first time recently. I really wish I could like Naschy's movies more, but I find most of them tedious, and unfortunately this was no exception.
Same here
It's an acquired taste. You wish you could like them more? Only you can make your wishes come true. There may be prerequisites involved, and either you will or you won't, but it's only important that you enjoy what you enjoy. Happy trails 🙂
@@alienmindwarp3455 I have liked a couple of his werewolf movies but movies like Exorcism and The Mummy's Revenge I've found positively sleep-inducing.
@@KRhetor can't all be winners. Dr. prescribed to insomniacs lol
The very sexy Helga Line co-starring in this Naschy Film, definitely makes it worth watching !
Enjoying their villainy? I'd have to say Tom Cruise's character in Collateral. Throughout most of the movie he's pretty much having the time of his life!
Why does this movie remind me of so many other movies? The Witchfinder General Meets the Thing That Couldn't Die On the Black Sunday After Black Sabbath. Does anyone else see it or am I expecting too much out of these kind of movies?
Rob Zombie sampled this score for How To Make A Monster off Hellbilly Deluxe.
Is that a for sure? I believe it, but I've not researched, nor directly compared.
Dracula...Mr. Hyde...Hannibal Lecter...Darth Vader...The Terminator...and , yeah, this voice-dubbed numbnuts warlock too, I guess. For as long as I can remember, I have always rooted for the bad guys to win. That's because bad guys or evildoers or villains usually get to dress in all black & masks & capes. Plus they get to SKULK. Or to phrase it another way---bad guys get to be COOL. Whereas the damned do-gooders are always running & leaping & sometimes even flying around in white pants or red tights and always look fresh from the gym. I think that's why I generally identify with the bad guys: I'm not the least bit athletic, I'm usually overweight, and I can't wear light-colored clothing because--well--I'm a sloppy eater.
But here's the up side: I can skulk with the best/worst of them. In fact, I'm convinced that I can skulk every bit as well as the baddest of badass skulking motherfuckers. I know I can.
That's too funny! I literally laughed my ass off which now hampers my skulking skills and I keep falling down. So thanks 😠
@@alienmindwarp3455 Dr. Mindwarp: Thank ever so much for the big thumbs up; it's always greatly appreciated. And do not be momentarily disheartened. Good skulking takes as much patience and perseverance and true grit as it does skill and talent. And so I say: Press on, my brother. PRESS ON, I SAY UNTO THEE!!
@@ashleys9397 my underworld physical therapist says I'm on the path of recovery, but I fear my confidence is shattered. No longer will I blend into a plebien shadowy observance, but will inevitably draw the spotlight of suspicion resulting in a monumental case of the flop sweats and my skulking privileges revoked for all time! I so desperately don't want to end up in a home for broken skulkers, please help me! Signed- anonymous.
A channel on Twitch showed this tonight (minus the scenes with boobs) and it left me wondering....what was the reason for the reversing of the film when the warlock picked up the axe during the fight with the artist at the end? The only thing it seemed to accomplish was to be a scene shown in reverse out of nowhere.
Wow, remember when movies could be absurd and fun...with no preaching about social issues or politics? That's why some of us love films like this...keep up the great work reminding us, Robin!
Remember when people could comment on movie reviews without blathering their dull political opinions? Irony can be pretty ironic.
ah, the lengths some will go to just to get some head....(sorry, couldn't resist). above average naschy film, thanks for this one.
I have this one, but I don't think I've gotten around to it yet.
This is the rare Dark Corners Bad Movie review that I haven't seen before but still WANT to see after watching the review. Looks completely gonzo! (Also, I accidentally hit "Dislike" for the first time ever on YT... apologies! I quickly replaced it with a Like, of course).
Available for free (with ads) on Tubi.
They are not vampires, they are warlocks & witches
I never heard of Paul Naschy when I grew up, although I indulged in all things classical horror. Was he ignored as Z grade even among B movie buffs?
We only discovered him through doing this show. I don't think he's really known outside of Spain.
@@DarkCornersReviews Probably right. I would love if you noted Tod Slaughter (1885-1956), an early British horror star almost forgotten today, but quite interesting.
@@Stroheim333 I didn't know him either until later in life and started buying horror collections of cheap old movies, discovering what I never saw on tv when I was young.
Even though they are odd,, I've always been a Paul Naschy fan,, his movies are always full of Beautiful & naked women,, i really enjoyed his Vampire & WereWolf movies...
Simon Phoenix is a very happy villain 😊
Good call. 👍
