Glad I have diesel XUV500 AT. Gives 14+ in Delhi Gurgaon traffic. 16+ on Highway. Was thinking to book X700 Petrol but this video is an eye opener.
My Thar Petrol AT CT gives me 9.5 km /lt. I have driven it 1700 Kms so far. Average speed 80 kmph, top speed 120 kmph. 20% city 80% highway driving.

I have Alcazar petrol AT n just for reference purpose getting mileage of
Heavy Bumper to Bumper traffic : 8-10 km/ ltr
Normal City Traffic: 11-13 km/ ltr
Highways(Average speed 80-90km/ hr ): 14-16 km/ ltr
Highways ( agressive driving > 100 km/hr) : 12-13 km/hr

petrol XUV700 customers should not expect more than 5-6 km/l (Automatic) and 6-7 km/l (Manual) in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

drove the petrol manual for about 10-15 kms a few days back and was able to get 13kmpl with my driving style on highway...when i started driving the test drive car it was showing 6 kmpl but was able to bring it to 13.1 kmpl after i drove it on the highway...

Then when it comes to roads of kerala will give a milage of 8-9 max , but when we use zip mode in diesel it will give ~13-14 bcause zip mode gives about 155 ps power n 360nm torque , just like xuv 500

City medium to peak traffic will return 7 km/ltr to 9 km/ltr at max. Whoever is opting for this SUV ,should be very rich or should have a hatchback for city purpose. I didn't see any traffic as such in the test and it's kind of a best case scenario of 10.8 km/ltr mileage
Yes you are right
it is better to buy Harrier or Safari if somebody buy Diesel. Better mileage and better style and road presence. Torque and power may be less compare to XUV700 but that does not matter much as Harrier and Safari also have enough power of 170 ps and 350 nm torque. Harrier mileage in highway 18-19 km/litre easily and city 14-15 km easily. Safari in highway 15-17 km / litre and city 13-14 km easily.
Aapki Hindi bahut badhiya hai. Mazaa aa gaya itni vishuddh Hindi sunkar.
You mostly driven on highway in this test and that too in early morning where traffic generally less so that number 10.81 will drop for sure in real day to day drive. Which option we should go to buy Petrol AT or Diesel AT ?

@@shashankchaudhary2730 yup dont go with diesel . Infact there is an insider info courtesy teamBHP that revealed that xuv900 will be the last car from mahindra with a diesel engine . After that they will focus on petrol and EV only . So ya better go with petrol and just enjoy the ride .

My rapid is hoot to drive, easy 150 speed and milage 22 23, from my recent Dehradun from Delhi trip.
Sir you mostly drove it on highways on and you neither pushed it hard and the car was not fully loaded too. So when we'll drive it aggrissvely, in city and the car will be housefull.. It'll return around 7-8km/l or it could drop even further...

From the video, it appears that you have conducted this test majorly on a highway. There was no bumper to bumper traffic. The car was travelling at a comfortable speed, probably around 70-80 kmph. In heavy traffic, the fuel average will drop drastically to around 6 kmpl. My Hector petrol CVT delivers 7-7.5 kmpl in city traffic, and on the Mumbai Pune expressway, I have achieved upto 14 kmpl. I have been told that the city average will improve after the 2nd service @ 5000 km. Let's see. The XUV700 is heavier and has a larger engine. The automatic is a torque converter, which is not fuel efficient. I think the petrol automatic may deliver 6 kmpl at best in the city.
What do you think about manual ?
@@johnkaddey7699 The petrol manual may fare slightly better, say 7-8 kmpl. But it depends on one's driving habits. A heavy foot on the accelerator may drastically pull down the average.

I have read somewhere that we shouldn't be using cruise control during rain to avoid hydroplaning or aquaplaning issues. Don't we have the same issues in the latest vehicles?
Hydroplaning has nothing to do with cruise control but on three things
1. Type of tyre & it’s grip
2. Driving speed
3. Breaking System on

What’s the point of bigger engine when driving this car at 65 kmph most of the time?
The mileage you have got is best case mileage not for average user, no body drive like this. Also low temperature outside so AC load is not much. In hot summer AC will also have impact on fuel economy due to large cabin .
Bigger engine is for power on tap. Most luxury cars have powerful engines and return similar fuel efficiency. The point is the ability to go fast when needed and not going pedal to the metal all the time. I think M&M have already claimed it'll return 6-8kmpl in city and 10-13kmpl on highway.
