Question.
So, after reading all your comments (yes ALL), there seems to be a consensus for me to react to the OST in album order. With 45 songs in the OST, some longer than 8mins, that would be about 15-17 separate episodes.

although I would've really loved it, the sheer complexity, the harmony of every single distinct, yet uniform element makes it so good that it's perceived as a given especially considering how popular Terraria is
it only takes a bit of attention to notice all the intricate details it provides, despite hearing the same soundtrack for ages, and still being able to enjoy it for all it is.

The Devourer of Gods (nonstop version) and Stained, Brutal Calamity are entire symphonies. 4+ movements and all. They're long enough to each require their own video.
This guy is amazing, and personally i think he shows his skill off best in these two songs.
Shame he was tormented by his fans to release the latter one faster.
i'll never forgive those starving dogs. it makes me so sad that he lost his love for terraria music
@@duckified. rushers are the main reason why developers of any kind suffer
I hate what people did to DM DOKURO. IIRC we almost didn't get Stained, Brutal Calamity at all because of it.
@@maxdong3514 the same reason why most games nowadays are unfinished, people just cant wait, and the company are pushing these devs cuz of monehhhhhh
Why is every single comment section just this same point like we get it are you guys really still not over it yet-
Fun fact: the Calamity mod OST makes heavy use of motifs in the later tracks. You can't really see it in the early game but once you progress, motifs start to become more and more frequent. For example, the bells in The Tale of a Cruel World are from Infernal Catharsis, the first theme of Jungle Dragon, Yharon. The titular Calamitas and her clone also have multiple motifs incorporated into their themes, though their motifs are scarcely related to them and are more or less there to represent how far you've come.
Also, you're kinda correct about the whole vibe with Crabulon. Both it and the Desert Scourge are "survivors" from a Sea Kingdom that was destroyed by the Gods. Crabulon retreated to a cave filled with glowing mushrooms and eventually starved to death, then had its corpse reanimated by the fungi. Fun fact 2: the final part of 1NF3$+@+10N will actually show images of mushrooms when put onto a Vectorscope.
hate to be that guy but Yharon technically isn't the Jungle Dragon anymore, they changed the lore so he's no longer connected to the jungle.
@@dilpickle96 I know he's referred to as "Resplendent Phoenix" now, I'm just making it easier for String Player Gamer to know which themes I'm talking about. I'll nerd out on the lore once he covered the important themes.
also hate to be that guy but the Sea Kingdom wasnt destroyed by the Gods but by Calamitas at Yharim's order
@@Garbo_trashcan wasn't that the old lore? Im pretty sure Ilmeris (the sea kingdom) was actually allies with Yharim.
@@VeraVemaVena You're confusing Illmeris and Azafure. Illmeris was against Yharim in both lores and Calamitas singlehandedly burned most of it. Azafure is the city that became the Brimstone Crag.
Fun fact! If you put that "comedic synth" section in a oscilloscope (I think that's what it's called) it looks like mushrooms! That means that the mushroom crab boss's theme *looks* like a mushroom
I think it is actually called Vectorscope, but i am also not sure about it lol
@@silverstar1614 Yes, that's what it's called.
i love the fact he plays along with it at the end of each song especially the crabulon one was incredible
you basically listened to the 3 first tracks in order, which gives me the idea of making a series of listening to everything in order, it'd be amazing since the whole ost is incredible and your videos are awesome
that'd be 10 videos atleast + some for the bigger tracks like Brutal, Stained Calamity
@@TheGuyThatPlaysKoG true, that one should be one video by itself lol
@@TheGuyThatPlaysKoGyou were right
Glad your enjoying the Calamity OS! All of the tracks were made by DM Dokuro who is very talented. I recommend checking out "Stained, Brutal Calamity" which is also from the Calamity mod. It's a track with multiple stages built in the music as well.
I second this
I third this
I fourth this
i fifth this
I sixth this, Its probably one of if not the best song in the ost, at least in my opinion.
If there will be a second video for the Terraria Calamity Ost, i highly recommend listening to "Roar of the jungle Dragon" , its one of the last few tracks made by DM DOKURO before they left the Calamity team. Also the boss that track belongs too is just really epic.

@@jacuppa2029 absolutely agree
Playing calamity since its earlier days and hearing these come out as you played the modpack, replaying it with every new update and experiencing new boss battles and incredible new music to go with them was such a magical experience.
Hearing tale of a cruel world always hits me right in the feels so hard. Although this mod has caused me so much pain and anguish, I still can never get enough.
I just start playing Terraria Calamity after watching other people reacting to the calamity OST, and then I see this pop up in my notifications. The stars have clearly aligned.
man i love how happy he is at 18:05 and beyond with the crab claws bro that is pure joy
The bells. You always remember the bells.
But yeah, you definitely need to also check out the Devourer of Gods full version, Roar of the Jungle Dragon, and Stained Brutal Calamity.
i appreciate how in depth you are with the details in these! the OST is quite varied, going from the highs ( roar of the jungle dragon ) to the lowest lows ( hadopelagic pressure + void )!!
i would love to see this become a series!
Roar of the Jungle Dragon is also one of those unusual songs that is from the perspective of the boss rather than you.
@@SephirothRyuNot only that, but also singing about how strong and dangerous the player is!
The part from 2:33 and onwards can be heard throughout the OST as a leitmotif. Same with the "Bells of Calamity" as the community describes it.
I call it the Fate leitmotif because everytime it is played, it has something to do with the future of the Terrarian and his upcoming enemies.
Huh I always thought of that as Calamitas's motif because it's the only part of Raw Unfiltered Calamity that doesn't come from one of the earlier boss themes. I also have only noticed it being played in the two Calamitas tracks and the title theme; is it anywhere else?
I've watched a lot of your reaction videos, but I think 7:26 is honestly the most beautiful song I've heard you play along with so far, which is probably saying a lot. Your violin really adds that extra bit of depth to an already immaculate song. As someone who is usually impartial to boss themes, I think this was definitely my favorite of the bunch. And that definitely is saying a lot, because I also really liked the way you played along with Infestation (not just referring to the crab claws, though that was also really impressive).
...and it seems I've overwritten you hearting this comment. How did you read my comment so fast?? My initial edit was barely a minute after posting!

Yeah we definitely need an entire video on "Stained, Brutal Calamity" alone. It tells the tragic tale of one of the final bosses through the lens of their own internal dialogue and the player's own, The Witch and The Prophecy. It's an entire 13 minutes long with 4 unique movements!
The lyrics are in the description as well so you can analyze them more thoroughly.
honestly one problem i have with that song is the voices are drowned out and you can barely make out what is said. that's all
@@TheGuyThatPlaysKoG yeah its more like background chanting than lyrics until the 2nd (or was it 3rd?) movement where dokuro takes center stage
@@BlueScaledSorcererit was the third movement!
DM DOKURO did an amazing job composing the OST. I'd love to see your reactions to the whole soundtrack, like you did with Pizza Tower's OST. Even without playing the mod or reading the lore, you can kind of feel the story and seriousness in the music. Also, if you ever just, on your own time want to look up Calamity gameplay, you'll see how much it's changed. Some of the thumbnails are very outdated lol
Most if not all of the bosses have updated sprites now
the desert scourge is literally brown now, he got some cosmetics
also he cut off some of himself and went to mcdonalds
You should 100% listen to the whole playlist. It's full of bangers and songs with motifs. Also, seeing you read a bit of every boss would be great!
yo the way he makes the violin sound fire is crazy
Calamity and Antibirth are both my picks for my favorite soundtracks... EVER. In the history of the arts. Dokuro's works are beautifully symphonic, the Calamity Bells alone are iconic!
DM Dokuro and mudeth are both crazy talented.
It is criminal that TBOI Repentance brought over everything from Antibirth EXCEPT the soundtrack
It was never Calamity Bells, it originated from his remix of Last Battle from Cave Story. The OG bells
@@villageguardnpc7238 which dokuro also made
@@villageguardnpc7238the bells are from touhou.
Fun fact: if you enable vector scope at the end of infestation the synth is actually mushrooms which is super cool.
I swear, DMdokuro is the only music artist I've heard that can use church bells in a song and make it sound sad rather than a Christmas Song.
universal collapse sure does sound sad!!! (joke)
@DustedDustSans-bd6pg ...Well damn. I guess that's another thing DMdokuro can do other than sad curch bells; Absolutely awesome church bells.
@@CosmoecArk if only the community wasnt so toxic to dokuro, then maybe we would have more music from him
@@DustedDustSansit was a very small portion of the community, its quite sad that the small amount of arsholes are the loudest than the majority of the community comforting DMDokoru
the calamity soundtrack is easily one of my favorite soundtracks in all of gaming
if you do end up making another video on calamity, you absolutely need to listen to Roar of the Jungle Dragon, Stained, Brutal Calamity, Servents of the Scourge, and Universal Collapse
my favourite has to be either everhood or mgr:r's soundtrack
You were on point with the description of the mixing in Infestation! It takes place in the Mushroom Biome, a biome you can only find underground in Terraria, which has tons of bioluminescent mushrooms and of course would be a very damp cavern.
The melancholy that sounds in The Tale of a Cruel World and the melody you played gives it a touch of hopelessness but there is still opportunity
Another fun thing about infestation is that when put through a visualiser, several parts of the song form mushrooms
Well, since you summoned the whole calamity community, now we need some MORE reactions for the calamity ost
your addition to the game intro was one of the most beautiful sound i have heard in a while.
as a tidbit, in the part of "The Tale of a Cruel World" where the piano is the main focus, what the piano plays is somewhat of a motif that reappears in a few more songs later down the line, if u wanna keep an ear out for it ;)
i love the covers you do after the tracks, especially the tale of a cruel world one. if you want to listen to some more calamity music, i recommend 'a step below hell' (really melancholic, one of my favorite biome themes) and 'the heaven-sent abomination' (another beautiful biome theme)
Pls more! The whole calamity soundtrack is absolutely amazing. Pretty much every song deserves recognition. I hope you react to the rest of the soundtrack! I would love to recommend my favorites from late in the game, but as someone else said, the music has a bunch of motifs from earlier in the game, so I hope this video gets popular so you can hear the soundtrack in relative order.
The idea of listening them in order is perfect please leave it like that!
I love it when you add in your violin to a song you react to. It always feels so natural, and sometimes i even forget it's a reaction video for a moment.
That was a cool score! Thanks for posting your reactions and introducing me to new VGM!
I don't know if you have did it already, but I recommend you check out the OST of Terraria itself.
Something cool I noticed was at 7:59 the part was reminiscent of the choir in Stained, Brutal, Calamity
since youre pretty much going in order so far, im excited for when you reach the track "Raw, Unfiltered Calamity" and hear all these motifs come back (among othersl
Yo bro turned into a crab while listening

Your short cover of The Tale of a Cruel World was beautiful.
agree it was beautiful
The way you structured this video is so amazingly unique and analytical. I appreciate the effort you spent to make sure your reaction actually added a new perspective to the songs, something that has become rather scarce in these types of videos recently.
I appreciate that!
For those that want them!
0:19 Tale of a Cruel World
7:15 playing along with the music
9:40 Guardian of The Former Seas
14:54 playing along with the music
16:47: 1NF35+@+!0N
22:20 playing along with the song
DM DOKURO is an incredible composer, his music makes all the bosses feel like they have meaning.
You should totally continue with Calamity! Open Frenzy, Feral Amalgamation, and any of the "Astral Infection" themes! If you decide to go for Stained, Brutal Calamity or Roar of the Jungle Dragon or the Devourer of Gods nonstop mix, be advised each of those songs are VERY long- SBC and DoG being both upwards of 12 minutes!
at some parts of the video he made a face expressions that makes him look like he is rising to the heavenly realm just by listening to the sountracks
I loved the pulse wave violin thing, it's such a unique sound and being able to control it like you do is such a cool skill
Bro casually added a violin part to the menu theme and it sounded immaculate
fantastic job with the violin with guardian of the former seas
you did a great job with it
"The sirens call & forbidden lullaby" - lethiathan theme are some of my personal faves. It'd be amazing to see what you think and how you play alomh with the music. I actually really love the content and the perspective. Keep up the amazing work!
The Robert Miles' Children reference litterally made my day ! I hope you'll do a series of this mod's soundtrack, there are a lot of other fabulous tracks, usually weaving between one another as some leitmotivs are reused (in some way)
I would pay for a full reaction of all Calamity Soundtrack, is amazing
I know it will take a loooot of time since at the end of each song you do your violin covers that go along with the ost but I swear everyone is gonna recommend every song of the OST so it's better to just try and do a live stream reaction of all of the OST and do the violins for only those that you really love.
Either way I'm glad you checked the OST, keep doing your amazing content ❤️
Nah. I like my way.
First time seeing this channel. As a terraria and music fan the way you discribe the music is soooo spot on. Im sticking around after this one
Amazing work man
10:25 its probably one of the more peppy and happy fights music wise because its made to be one of the first boss fights. Boss progression early-game in calamity is supposed to be King slime > Desert Scourge > Eye of Cthulu > queen bee > evil biome boss, so desert scourge is one of the easiest bosses. Even on master mode I had very few difficulties with it.
Edit: oh you looked it up. I hadnt seen that part of the video yet LOL.
The best way to experience the Calamity Mod OST is in order of the boss progression.
I love how into these Calamity music pieces you are! If you do end up reacting to more pieces from the Calamity OST, I have a few suggestions that might make the process more enjoyable:
If possible, try to listen to the songs in order. Some of them are built off of previous ones, and are more enjoyable when listened to in order.
While they are some of the best, “Non-stop mix (Devourer of Gods)”, “Roar of the Jungle Dragon”, and“Stained, Brutal Calamity” really shine after hearing the other major songs of the OST.
Some of my favorites that aren’t listed above:
-Fly of Beelzebub
-The Leviathan Trilogy
-Open Frenzy
-Outcast of the Sulfurous Seas (Sort of the “encore” to “Guardian of the Former Seas”)
Loved the video and how you played along with each song after listening!
Crabulon fight is in underground glowing mushroom cave. Its a tight space, with boss filling it with flowing damaging spores, making it a very hectic fight. And very glowing.
Very fitting theme)
One of my favorite things about DM Dokuro's works is their full sound. Theres always so many layers to them, and your masterwork with the violin adds even more depth and fullness. But instead of making it difficult to chew and digest, its like a sauce that adds so much extra flavor to an already amazing sandwich, if that makes sense. This is absolutely amazing, and the crab claws are just- a cherry on top 😂! Definitely gonna drop by your twitch some time :3c
DM DOKURO is a music god. I like even more what he has done outside of Calamty. Sure, Calamity is has a really cool ost thanks to him, but it's just one small fragment of what he is capable.
I really hope this becomes a full series!
I LOVE the title theme, it seems like it's minecraft-esque and then goes to more hollow knight-esque, and it's just so good
when he added the violin to the mix (tale of a cruel world) it really had some end of game vibes like: "a tale of a cruel world's end" would be its name
DM Dokuro went SO HARD making this entire OST
if you want to have a blast for an hour or so, just boot up the whole thing and listen all the way through. you wont be disappointed
"Something beautiful, yet sad" is a perfect description for Calamity's world.
I think that the entire soundtrack deserves a listen, however some of the biggest ones to anticipate are Raw, Unfiltered Calamity (its even better if you listen to all the tracks before it), Hadopelagic Pressure + void, the Leviathan Trilogy, Open Frenzy, Both of Yharon's themes and Stained, Brutal Calamity.
I would love to see a part 2! There are many more songs this OST has to offer and each one has its own unique theme. You would be surprised but these few songs are only the tip of the iceberg.
Please do more of these. DM dokuro is an incredible artist and i would love to see you react to more of his stuff
I already liked you and your musical style, but now I love you thanks to this terraria calamity video❤❤❤
Letting you know, you will be hearing that bell a lot. It is what makes the calamity mod stand out!

I'd absolutely LOVE to see him react to the entirety of the soundtrack for Calamity, as all of the songs are fantastic in their own rites. DM Dokuro did a bang-up job with the OST, and I'm sad that he left the development team for the mod.
i never would've guessed that violin strings 'n stuff would go so well with eletronic beats and eletric guitars
That was really nice! Truly, the Calamity OST holds a lot of bangers! It is possible that every track get suggested here!
I will suggest "Silence Before the Storm" from the ost. An interlude track that does not play in the game!
if you make another video on this, I recommend return to slime, the devourer of gods (nonstop mix), and roar of the jungle dragon. those are in my opinion some of the strongest songs in the OST.
How could you not include Stained Brutal Calamity? While all three of your choices are very strong, nothing can beat the absolute symphony of SBC.
@@slayerking8787 I suppose so. I just haven't listened to that one enough, it is very good though.
I am totally on board for more Calamity, it's an epic OST for an epic mod. Also loved the violin accompaniments!

the best part of these themes is struggling for hours on a boss and listening to the theme over and over again but still vibing hard and loving it, i will never forget the devourer of gods music

Well well well what do we have here
you really have to react to more songs from the calamity soundtrack. probably one of the best songs in it is called "roar of the jungle dragon"
Your going to love Roar Of The Jungle Dragon. It's a theme of a boss later in the game, you should definitely listen to more of this OST, Almost anything by DM Dokuro is amazing

DM Dokuro makes incredible music, if you love these you should look into the later final boss songs as they really start to show off the epic scale your fighting at! (a few examples are Devourer of Gods, Stained Brutal Calamity, and Roar of the Jungle Dragon.)
No way I was following the whole Calamity series for kinda 7-8 months, awaiting each video. Insane how time flies by.
A song a highly recommend you listen to is Catastrophes before the Calamity. It was DM Dokuro's last song made before leaving the calamity team, and it's a very somber song, yet probably my favorite.
The fabulous hair, the talent to play along to my favourite soundtrack in recent memory, imma simp!
Huge underwater cavern and a rave? Well, you hit the nail on the head.
It's in a giant cavern half-full of water and idk about rave, but some sketchy mushrooms are definitely involved.
I'd love to see more of these, whether they are new episodes or a livestream or something.
