Goes to show that any of the characters can cook if the player is good.
One of my favorite things about these games. Any character is viable if you're good enough.
Of course it is. But you still can't ignore that SOME characters are just objectively bad than others

@@elstriker2020 If you get beat because someone knew how to play againsts your bad character then they are better than you because they knew the character matchup and played to your weakness. If you beat someone with a bad character then you probably found what makes that character work against stronger opponents making you a good player
This sub zero has very well rounded game plan , plays in a way opening spacing to zone / react to aggressiveness with ice clone counter / abuse dive kick neutral skip 👍 willing to go for long mid screen carry combo opposed to something like infamous player Sik strictly going for corner and kinda clutch on Lao hat to get things .
Problem of this "archetype" of character doing low damage with versatile tool are ages long with fighting game , adaptive player eventually gets their player pattern and generally more chance to learn/react .
It is a complete disgrace that Sub Zero loses fireball wars.
They will buff Sub Zero, it's inevitable. Sub Zero players already got W.

People really out here saying ice clone is a trash move but if you treat it like a parry it seems pretty standard lol
It has a slower startup than some other but it also counters jump ins and lows 🤷♂️
Edit: it literally OS's any forward movement. "It can be punished on reaction!" like yeah so can virtually any special move on whiff that isnt a projectile.
It's because you can't use it how it was ever used before. You can Armor through it or Kameo through on reaction every time. If they poke into it or B12(mid, mid) into it, it's death for Sub if the opponent knows that Sub has very long recovery.
Xombat is a crazy good player but he doesn't know the matchup and said so in this very video and that's because nobody is playing with Sub at tourney's
The only thing you can really use Clone for is corner combos which creates very bad scaling and on reaction to jump ins which are not very strong in MK1 especially compared to MKX or MK11.
But most moves aren't reactable into clone. It has to be like 36f startup and advancing far to catch them.
The hitbox on clone is pretty awful in MK1.
MK9 clone was godlike
Clone is trash even used like a parry. He has other better options for beating both jump ins and lows that are more rewarding and far less risky.
jump ins are garbage you don't need clone to punish, it's not even subs best option just the easiest
I wish the Kameos had some sort of pre-match dialogue to discuss a game plan.

Just cuz sub at the bottom of the tierlist doesn’t mean he’s bad. I think the worst characters with good kameos makes them viable.
