HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 5 сен 2020
- Hey friends, here's some ideas on some Mark Knopfler style rhythm stuff. The right hand syncopation and muting is key. As well as keeping the groove and phrasing consistent and "musical". Hope you dig it. Thanks! GT

Been watching and enjoying for a couple years now. Thanks. I can't wait until your lessons apply to me. Getting closer.
Man Ive been decorating my entire house for five months (stripping wallpaper mainly) and the 79 Strat has been in its coffin all that time - so can't wait to finish and get to grips with these ideas
So darn good bro. Your right its a great sound/style! Thanks as always!
Guthrie I love all your videos but this is my favorite one in ages!!! I love this!!
Wow, nice bro! So effortless and smooth. Big fan! 😎🤠
Hi Guthrie, fantastic lesson, many thanks !
Thanks again Guthrie...
I hear that groove every time I drive near Nashville.
Damn that was beautiful, so clean an clear ,the fingers are so expressive ,thank you for that Guthrie I feel better
You are amazing brother! Continual inspiration... thank you!
I've been listening to and learning from Mark Knopfler ever since you mentioned seeing him live awhile back. Thank for bringing this amazing music to us
One of your best lesson so far!! Excellent thanks mate!!
Neck and Neck is one of my all time favs! Amazing as always!
I get what you mean about the architecture. I'm a big fan of old world architecture myself. My grandmother ran an antique business and many in our family worked for her. That's how I later got my start design/building furniture and cabinets.
We used to have a lot more beautiful old buildings in the bay area where I grew up that have also been taken down (entire blocks) to make way for the _airline aesthetic._ Anyway, it's super cool you appreciate them too.
Dope! Great lesson again Master player!
Pure gold. thanks again GT!
Hey Guthrie Im a big fan man. Have you ever thought about making a serious talking about what its like to be a session player and life in the music industry in general? I’d love to see some stuff like that
You’re on fire, sir. What sublime playing.
Thanks for posting. Thanks for the tip, so generous of you. It’s so fun playing that style. I always loved it, but never knew how to play it. Thanks again
That’s great thing you say don’t be afraid to make mistakes great lesson love it thanks !
Its all about the ghost notes that gives it the feel. I was just listening to your life after dark CD. Your really great man. Everyone should own both your CD's. Look forward to taking lessons in the near future. Enjoy NOLA. It truly is a beautiful city. Stay cool.
I could spend a whole year to even come close to this....and would be happy, awesome licks
Guthrie!!!! Great to see you man.
Amazing as always.
Thanks for posting some rhythm stuff. I think some of the coolest things you do on your recordings are when you blend rhythm with lead.
Looks like The Big Easy is treating you right! Cool style, going to work on that groove right now. Thanks Guthrie!
Cracking and popping my way to funkiness on the One train! Cheers Guthrie!!
Thanks for another great lesson GT!!!
Hey Guthrie, that was fantastic🎉
Great stuff!
love it!
Great stuff, as usual. What a gifted player... Thank you so much for givin´ inspiration ! All the best for you from Hannover, Germany. Stay safe and keep on playin´!.
That was fantastic, as usual
Great playing. MK ain't easy to teach let alone play. I can see why Chet loved his playing.
Guthrie, we're lucky to have you, thanks for doing this.
Everyone gets to have a favorite guitar slinger, you are the one☝️ boss mane.
These videos are so great. Did your artworks lessons last year, but didn't use the video exchange, what a misstake... Thanks for sharing and making us all better. Been playing guitar all my life but you really helped me seeing the guitar more musically and not just as an instrument, it's not a guitar anymore, it's a music-maker.
Very nice. I need that style in my repertoire.
Can not wait to get on this in the morning 🔥 cheers man
Good to hear you playing GT
Inspiring! The Tele and I are having date night with this vid this weekend - if I pick up 10% of this great stuff I will be thrilled...
Another great lesson, sounds killer.
I'd like to make mistakes with a fraction of your skillz. I'd be amazing! Great stuff as always!
When I saw the title of this video I was like OK let’s see about this. And after about three notes I remembered why I come back here for every video that you make. The real deal GT. Now get a les Paul and do it again. 😂
You never miss a note, effortlessly flowing.I’m amazed at what you consider mistakes that sounded great to me.
great video ... thank you
That roll on to the four chord! That was special... no doubt! Thanks GT. I am currently exploring Mr. Michael Palmisano's courses on the fretboard and I look forward to your help one day soon. I love to hear you play, many Thanks!
Glorious tone! Keep that guitar and the Floyd, they complement each other. There is something to be said about playing with your fingers, especially with the flesh. Playing with a pick is also a great tone (at least in your case), but fingers have something special that is very expressive and organic. Cheers.
Great picking Guthrie,love the tele!
cheers Guthrie
Its amazing to me how British guitar players like Mark Knopfler Ray Flacke and Albert Lee have shaped American music and also fills me with pride to be from the British Isles. Great playing Guthrie 👏
Hey GT, so glad you're doing well! It's looks like NOLA is just what you needed to get out of the Nashville funk. Keep the inspiring vids coming my friend. Stay safe and keep well!
Damn beautiful sound. Like always!🎸
Awesome as always !
Most basic explanation - thumb downbeat and pluck on the offbeat
Hard to teach people feel anyway
That comes from thousands of hours of practice and a good ear/ear training
PS That last jam from about 11:00-12-20 was amazing
great playin as always Guthrie, hope you’re well brother
Right on Guthrie, appreciate your videos so much, God BLESS you man!
Wicked. And inspiring as usual. Greetings from Germany, p.
Great video! I love this style. It puts me in mind of Dixie Chicken by Little Feat.
Hey Guthrie, i love your videos! Could you make one covering the super faster country playing you did in Don Kelley band and how you stepped into that role as a player and having to play everything in what seems like double time lol
Saw you over on Brett Papa’s channel.. you’re my new favorite RUclips guitarist to follow..the way you attack your rhythms like a drum set made sense to me and has really broken a few barriers to consistent funky , less boring scale playing
Your Lessons rock! Every time I watch you I pick up a little something to add to the repertoire. I literally signed up for jam play for one month just to check out your course lol. Keep up the lessons 🤘🤘
Hey Gruthrie, great stuff as always! I hear Knopfler but it made me think of Little Feat's Let It Roll album. Thanks you so much for sharing this!
Very cool. Has a bit of an "Amos Moses" sound too.
really cool. it had to be done
Hey Guthrie, great picking as usual. I wanted to tell you that some of us earlier generation folks would like to donate to your tip jug but we don't use modern-day pay methods like Venmo or Paypal. I bet if you added another avenue to your tip jug info, like a P.O. Box number somewhere in East Nashville TN, it might bring you some tips in the form of checks or even cash. Just a thought. I enjoy your lessons and am grateful for your generosity.
Wow. Effortless technique, mind blowing, face melting stuff. Knopfler’s “Setting me up” I laugh to think what this would look like in tab. You don’t learn this on paper all feel and blisters, Guth your a master, I’m not worthy, keep crushing my brain.
Face melting, for sure!
Nice lesson. Thought you were going to go into some Sonny Liston there for a second. :) Thanks, man.
I am beginning to see them chord shapes EVERYWHERE! Now. Right hand... Thanks!
Guthrie, you just opened my eyes to something that I have been a bit confused about for some time. Our band plays Rock and Roll (Led Zep). I play the guitar and thus play the main rhythm riff, always thinking it comes from the A major (G shape) pentatonic scale. Now that you explained this to be from what I call the back side of the A minor pentatonic scale, position 5 (using that sixth), it all makes sense now. Thanks a ton!
Thanks man, your right hand is killer!. I’d love to see New Orleans.
Read that novel by Anne Rice (The Witching Hour) which is set in the garden district. The culture and music too, what a city.
Awesome playing and tips on getting that feel/sound!!! Can’t wait to get my amp back from the tech...darn tube amps, lol. Stay safe and keep up the awesome work Dude 👍🎸😎
Awesome lesson!! NOLA gives some inspiration huh? Makes me want to grab my tele and come find you for a “Skype” lesson.. lol hope your enjoying the heat
Yeah, that's nasty! 🙌
Most inspiring...
So the big easy... how cool
Have you met a beautiful witches or vampires
Cheers
this guy is 🤯
Nice groove , big fan of finger style playing ..ditch the pick and start popping the strings . Great playing Boss !
This was great. Maybe you could do a lesson on open string licks.
Hi Guthrie, Love all your content! could you do a video on how you set up different amps or what you listen for? you always get such a great tone with tele and 335!
Gday Jesse, Check out Guthries earlier videos on this. He has done a few already on guitar and amp tones
What I want to know is what compressor GT uses !!!!! and what guitar is that? And did some alien implant some out of worldly guitar skills in this guy's head????
HOLYCRRRRaaP... woneRFULL STUFF.W
Awesome playing and sound. Curious, about the type of pups you are using. Thank you for sharing! :)
This sounds like Jerry Reed in my opinion... I'd color it awesome regardless. Thanks for the demo.
Here comes Amos...
You got some Danny Gatton goin' on there fella!
please come to London for a show
I kind of understood some of this, I must be getting better
cool right hand grabin there sir! Are they letting anyone gig right now?
