  • Hey friends, here's some ideas on some Mark Knopfler style rhythm stuff. The right hand syncopation and muting is key. As well as keeping the groove and phrasing consistent and "musical". Hope you dig it. Thanks! GT

I get what you mean about the architecture. I'm a big fan of old world architecture myself. My grandmother ran an antique business and many in our family worked for her. That's how I later got my start design/building furniture and cabinets.
We used to have a lot more beautiful old buildings in the bay area where I grew up that have also been taken down (entire blocks) to make way for the _airline aesthetic._ Anyway, it's super cool you appreciate them too.

Glorious tone! Keep that guitar and the Floyd, they complement each other. There is something to be said about playing with your fingers, especially with the flesh. Playing with a pick is also a great tone (at least in your case), but fingers have something special that is very expressive and organic. Cheers.

I wanted to tell you that some of us earlier generation folks would like to donate to your tip jug but we don't use modern-day pay methods like Venmo or Paypal. I bet if you added another avenue to your tip jug info, like a P.O. Box number somewhere in East Nashville TN, it might bring you some tips in the form of checks or even cash. Just a thought. I enjoy your lessons and am grateful for your generosity.

Guthrie, you just opened my eyes to something that I have been a bit confused about for some time. Our band plays Rock and Roll (Led Zep). I play the guitar and thus play the main rhythm riff, always thinking it comes from the A major (G shape) pentatonic scale. Now that you explained this to be from what I call the back side of the A minor pentatonic scale, position 5 (using that sixth), it all makes sense now. Thanks a ton!
