I really hope you've got this sorted and can focus on moving things forward now. I'm very sorry that you had to pay such a large fine instead of spending the money on improving the venue and business from which everyone will eventually benefit. I like what you've done there - pay the price and move on. I'd do exactly the same if I was in your shoes. BTW, I'm going back to Nepal this Nov. Hope to see you on the trail again.

Dear Chris, I am from Montenegro and love your content. If you need any help with these administrative things or advice about bureaucracy, feel free to reach to me. That bill is super high, and i guarantee they didn't expect you to pay it fully. Cheers

Yes its too high, it was even higher before they reduced some fees. But in the end I had to choose between paying within 8 days, or going to court for months/years while shutting down my business. So I decided to stay polite, friendly and pay the bills and then my plan is to try to get as much information on this topic with specialized lawyers as possible. Perhaps in the future they will find a way to get some of the money back, but even if not, I just want to make sure it does not happen again.

@@ChrisonTour Try to find a lawyer, i could help you arrange talk with one to help you decide which one you want to go. Since those things can be extended and bills can be split in years to come, fully legally. Also, keep in mind that Montenegro is actually really strict with inspections and laws for restaurants and bars. All the things they require from you, are pretty much required elsewhere as well. Cheers!

I will do an investigation with lawyers on this in the next weeks, now I need to first get everything in order to keep the bar running.

thanks a lot. yes I hope to get some of the money back once I have talked to some lawyers. I was kind of forced to sign and pay this now as they would have closed my Bar otherwise until the court decides on it. And that could have taken months or even years and would have been the end of the business. I hope now everything is in order and of course, no more external food until I have my own kitchen and chef!

Hi Chris, did they ever give you a warning before the fine? Sounds like pretty minor issues and a fine well beyond any loss to the state or departmental/inspection costs - assuming no financial or safety investigations. Defo wise to avoid friction, but also wise to ensure any questions are answered or escalated. It's part of the build experience, so appropriate to provide a general explanation on your channel where others can learn.

Hey, nope. No warning, it was their first time here.

@@ChrisonTour you've every right to ask for a breakdown of allocation on email - from experience, on a signed letter with all paperwork attached in a Prilogu... if the response if poor, then likely worth escalating if nothing more than acting as preventative measure and having a record on email. I'd imagine a specialist accountant in food and beverage should be aware of what is appropriate and be able to request a reduction, especially with such a timely payment.
