I like the idea for having google announce when a leak sensor is triggered
Exposing devices in Home Assistant and seeing the devices in Google Home works great with Nabu Casa! Can control them and add them to a room. But Google Assistant keeps saying the devices still need to be set up in the assistant app. So no voice control via Google Assistant, works with voice in Home Assistant though.
I'm curious, if I have a matter device added to Home Assistant, will it also be visible and controllable in google home if I scan the QR code? in other words can I view and control a matter device from both HA and Google Nest/Home interchangeably?
I wonder if there are limitations to the send text command because when I try to put the text command "play sex and the City on Netflix," it doesn't work. Same thing when I try the text command "turn off ambient EQ." A command like turn on the light worked but I don't need Google to control my devices cuz that's what my home assistant is for. I want Google to do what Google does using an automatic command from home Assistant That way I don't have to use my voice. Anyone have any insight?
I have zigbee plugs on my washer & dryer and use them to send notifications when those machines are done (e.g. below a certain wattage for 2 minutes).

I followed your steps one by one. When I connected to Google Home, I could enter the Home Assistent login screen, but after entering my account and password, it showed: Could not reach [test] myapp. Please try again

i follow same stuff in method-2 also check home assistant official doc. but couldn't get it there error

You are a hero. Thanks for this great detailed video!! This video could really help me out. But i run into a problem. I just cant create a project on the Google Actions console. It keeps giving me the message that something went wrong creating my project. Tried everything, log out and in again with my google account, different browser, clearing cache, incognito window.. Any ideas on how to solve this?

@@BeardedTechGuy Really was :) - however I am stuck at the Actions on Google part since for a few days now I am not able to create a new project there. Every time I try, it just tells me "Something went wrong, try again later". Actions on Google Support is not very helpful unortunately, so my integration project is on hold for now :(.

This was a great tutorial. One issue though, how could i enable the google asssistant on home assistant to access personal information. Like my calendar or name. Whenever i try it says i need to enable it but it never works when i try. Ive followed the official guides on HA but nothings worked. Any tips?

Love the specifics of how you do these videos...asking prematurely as I haven't attempted this yet, but maybe I'm not the only one with this question: Can you simply set up a media "helper" group that you want the messages sent to for say when the window is opened rather than adding each media player separately? Just curious but again, thanks for the granularity of the videos...helps so much!!!

I setup a media group helper and I am able to control some things to devices in the group. I can for example call the Google Assistant SDK: Send text command service to have google commands run on multiple devices. I cannot however, get the send notification service to work or send a lovelace dashboard to the group.
@@BeardedTechGuy Got it! I finally figured out how to use an Ikea 5 button remote to send a "Please come downstairs" voice message through 3 Nest Hubs and 1 Echo Show so wherever my son is upstairs, he'll hear it. That's what I took from the video, so again, thanks so much!

This is helpful, but how would you approach the following:
I want to ask google a question and then I want it to report back the status of some devices. I have made this automation in home assistant, but now I want that automation to be triggered by google assistant (which I have figured out how to do with helpers) but then I want google assistant to read back the custom response ive made in HA. how do I get Google to see my custom response and read it?

Great video and easy to follow along and set up. Thanks so much for doing this. One quick question if you have minute, I want to run a automation where I turn off the tv for the night and then my google speaker starts playing relaxing sounds for a set amount of time, say 2 hours. I can get all of it to work except the speaker never stops playing no matter what amount of time I entered be it 2 hours or 2 minutes. Do you know if a times command like this command is possible?

The easiest way would be to make your own "relaxing sounds" music file that is the correct length you want and upload it to YT Music and call it for your automations. That might now fit your use case though / could be annoying.
I had another idea of creating a virtual switch in HA that could trigger a Google Home Routine that then triggers the relaxing sounds with a timer but I can't figure out how to get a virtual device to be usable as a trigger in Google Home (the virtual devices show in GH but cant be used for triggers with everything I've tried). If there is a way to use a virtual device as a GH trigger that would probably be the easiest way to accomplish what you want.
I don't know about home assistant, but in the Google home app, I created a "try your own" automation and wrote "play ocean sounds for 8 hours". I created a separate action to start at 10 PM. It's been working fine for me for 3 years now. Hope this helps.
Thank you for this video. It helped me out a lot. I couldn't figure out why Google devices wouldn't broadcast from my HA. Thank you, thank you! Can you do one on linking the ring doorbell camera to HA? That's my last headache, lol.

What issues are you having with Ring integration?
@@BeardedTechGuy I can't get the video of whose at my front door to appear on my nest hub when the doorbell rings.
I don't have a ring doorbell so I can't try this out but seems like you'll need to run the Ring-MQTT add-on and then from that you should be able to use home assistant cast to display a dashboard that has the camera feed displayed when the doorbell is rung. Again not sure if this will actually work but that's what I was able to find and I hope it helps get you in the right direction!

I want devices that show in Google home, to show in HomeAssistant. Is that possible to do? I have some temp. sensors that can be seen in Home but there are no integrations with HA.
Very interesting - thank you. Question: how should the google home commands look like? Say, i want to turn on the airco in my car (that is supported). Is there an overview of possible commands? Should I set up these commands in HA or in Google Home, or is there no particular setup required, after the installation proces?
The commands you would send through home assistant would be the same exact commands you would speak directly to Google home to accomplish your tasks.
I Think if you simplify and explain custom url and how to get it, that will be awesome, because that is a missing piece for some of us i guess.

Do I need public IP for this? Because not everyone has public IP, in our country is paid service. In 9:25 mins is that IP. Thanks for the answer.

How do I get a Fullfillment URL without a Nabu Casa Cloud account?
at 29:19, I'm having a problem to get this command to work. If I just type "broadcast" in the message box, it responds with "what is the message?", but if I type "broadcast testing" it says "Sorry, I don't understand". Anyone else have this issue?
I can't create a project in the Action Console. The page keeps jumping back. The failed attempts can be seen in the google home console. There you can import them. However, it seems that you can only create Matter projects there. For other projects, you'll be redirected to Actioon's Console, where you won't be able to see the projects. I hope someone finds a solution, or another way to integrate the Google Assistant.
Would love an update to this video. It's looking like HA has updated and simply flipping on the Google Assistant switch, like at 2:12, doesn't seem to be an option anymore. Looks like they're trying to push everyone to the cloud garbage...makes no sense...we run this so we can keep stuff local.
Do you know of a workaround? Their documentation for an alternative process is pretty rough...
The toggle shown at 2:12 in the video is for setting up with Nabu Casa Cloud. If you want to avoid the subscription you'll have to do a different way. I shown one of doing it starting at 5:54 in this video

@DominikPrucha , i deleted (all of my Google projects and started all over again. (i entered a wrong url in the first project and I already had a Google project for reading out my nest devices) .
Now eventing works.
After that I created a new project for reading out the nest devices. If you have them I suggest to create the api in another cloud project and not in the same project of the assisten @
If Home assistant and my Google nest hub are on the same wifi network- why do I need home assistant to have cloud ? Surely my gateway is Google hub and when I sent it a command it executes locally to home assistant? This is an assumption not something I know but want to confirm?

I've got the same problem. I can reach everything, see the login-screen etc. But after 5s "your test ... account will be linked" i get the same error: could not reach...

Yes, you need to have :8123 after your URL. This is actually required in a few spots. You can find the 3 spots its needed at these timestamps: 7:55 8:59

Hmmm that's an odd one, do you get the same error if you purposely type in the wrong username / password you'd normally use to login to home assistant with?

Disregard, I figured it out.
Note : using HAOS(not docker) installed in X86 pc with cloudflared and a cheap domain , in api and tokan port is not required if added its not able to connect
Using HAOS also on x86 (thinclient) and Cloudflared and domain name, but for some reason when adding [test] HomeAssistant via "works with google home" I get a blank page instead of the HA login prompt. So I am unable to select HA devices to add to Google Home.
What I'd like is the ability to simply trigger GH simple coitional voice commands.

Not to my knowledge, the issue is that Google doesn't support the two-way conversation like that to be able to support it.
I know that HA has definitely been coming out with some voice control stuff of their own, so I bet once that gets more polished you'll be able to do something like that through their solution

I'm stuck on being able to have a HA automation where if I say "Hey Google, the king has entered" to my Nest Mini, it will perform the automation and turn on the lights. Do you have a video on how to set up a voice command in HA assistant to be said to Nest Mini and the automation is performed?
I have followed this to the letter the only difference is that I entered instead of which is how my HA is served ATM. all seems well on the google API side but obviously home app not seeing this. How do I change this to https without NABU CASA? I ready you need duck DNS etc etc
