I have a '93 with 85,000 miles and it still gets great mileage. I've had to replace struts & shocks, ac compressor and heater core. It's in the shop now getting a new harmonic stabilizer (what a term!) and belt tensioner. I love it - a perfect car to haul my band equipment

That paint damage was due to the infamous GM paint peel scandal of the time due to switching to new eco-friendly paint that took longer to cure and bond to the metal, that an assembly line did not give. Other manufactures also suffered from this, but GM got it the worst. It always peeled off more on the leading edges of the car where the wind hit it. Those paint spots are what happens when you took it to the dealer for the "free repair" under warranty of the recall where they would just Krylon over the bare metal spots on the car with the closest color they had and say it was fixed. A more expensive, but discounted option was to strip and repaint the entire car but unless most of the paint was gone, nobody ever did. The spray-on paint used for the repair was more UV unstable than the factory paint so as it aged and faded, it discolored more than the rest of the paint did. My neighbor had a 1993 Lumina with only 9k miles, a museum piece, but still even then, just being in the garage and a summer driver, the paint peeled off all over it. They tried their best to bondo-coat the spots and to stymie the peeling. Once the car got sold and I seen it in its new owner, within 6-8 months outdoors and not cared for in a garage, the entire paint just totally fell apart and got destroyed all over 95% of the car.

Before i bought my 93 Buick Century in 2001 it was garaged, and had mint plastic side mouldings which faded, and discolored over time. My car used to have mint window gaskets too until the car sat outside. That Olds must of sat outside like mine minus the snow lol. Nice car, but i prefer the 3300/3800's with the 3 speed automatic transmission. The 3 speed with OD was ok, but not as good as the regular 3 speed. The 2.8L, and 3.1L seemed to have injector problems from what ive read.
