The Olds wagon is a geat buy. Someone, say a single parent with a couple kids, wants an SUV but can't afford one. There's the alternative. A lot of people over 40 may have grown up in the back seat of one of these wagons. TBH, if Randy never bought a supercar, and stuck with everyday cars, i'd be quite happy with that. All the rebuilds focussing on muscle/supercars, i call it the "Tavarish Effect". :)

More like wants an SUV, can't afford one, wants a Minivan, still can't afford one, here's the alternative. Still though, I'm not bashing on it; would make for a QUICK flip here in Chicago considering all the poor families around here that just need something.

Check your dash cam. Most newer dash cams have a "crash feature" based of an internal G-force sensor that will data lock (forbid over recording) of the time and incident for a few minutes before and after and store it in a locked file so it cant be erased.
Also if you want, I own a security company that provides, among the standard security, fire, cctv and access - mobile fleet monitoring. Its really super cheap and you can install it yourself since I know you're mechanically inclined. We sell them to everyone from construction companies to rent-to-own lots.
If nothing else I can give you free info on how to do it yourself.
LOVE that wagon! I would try it at $1995 for sure. Its worth $1500 all day and on Sundays. If you were closer, Id take it, but shipping to me would double my costs.
Maybe ask your dealer if you can make your front area his official lot #2 and stick yours out front under his name?
Also for tax reasons, buy a $500 car every so often and give it to charity or donate it to a non-profit. They will write you a receipt for fair market, so you can balance profits AND bless the needy.

That's a really nice Oldfart'smobile. Not even 6,000 miles a year on that one. As a one, probably older, owner that's exactly how you want to find them, one owner, carefully maintained and generally driven gently, a perfect buy for someone. If you advertise it as a modern classic and are prepared to sit on it for a while you could make a lot on that, but I don't think that's really what you and your channel is about. Stick to the ordinary stuff you do so well, let the others do the supercars and risk assassinating their bank balances...

*I really like the fact that you buy affordable cars that are easy to flip!* _Here in the Netherlands because of the inspection, it's hard to do._ If the MoT isn't valid anymore, then it's a pain in ''the you know where'' to solve it. Without MoT is worth nothing if it is a clunker. Only good for parts or derbys. Getting the MoT requires getting it inspected, then it probably fails. Fixing al the requirements like brakes, tires, suspension, rust, lights, and emissions of course. And finally getting it checked again. Here you're better off buying something that's worth some more and desirable. Like a classic, sportscar or SUV. Keep saving these further classic's and clunkers Randy!

Do you ever flip cargo vans??? I used to do that as a side job from the late 90's to about '05.
They were really easy to clean up and repair and always sold great.
Ford E-Series from '97 and up are what sells the best in my area now. I might get back into flipping them.
Also, the van cutaway cab & chassis sells well when stripped back down to the cab & chassis.
There is a company that makes the fiberglass cab rear enclosures for them.
    www.cabbacks.com/ford
You can buy damaged box trucks and Class-C motorhomes for fairly cheap with a good cab, chassis, and drivetrain.
I bought my '98 Ford E-Super Duty (early name for the E450) a few years ago with the 6.8L V10 and the Dana-80 rear end. It has just over 81k miles on it and runs and drives perfect. It was a Fleetwood Tioga 29Z Class-C motorhome that had some roof leaks that caused water damage to the motorhome structure and interior. The Ford cab was not affected. I dismantled the entire motorhome structure and resold all salvageable parts like the windows, doors, appliances, holding tanks, shower, toilet, sinks, furniture, and more. Stripped the chassis back down as close as I could get it to the way it left the Ford factory with the exception of the 4' frame/wheelbase stretch. I did remove the rear frame extensions and repainted the chassis. It sat like that for a little while with the cab tarped up and in that short time I had so many people stopping by making offers. Most commonly four to five thousand. Was offered $2k just for the Dana-80 which was just crazy. I bought it to turn it into a road trip toy hauler. I installed a 72" double bunk sleeper cab and hopefully this year I'll get around to permanently installing the 16'x8' flatbed. Right after I removed the motorhome structure I thought about changing the plan and installing the cab-back enclosure and making a ramp-truck out of it.
Sorry for the long comment... LOL

The 3.1L is a GREAT motor. The biggest issue that I ever had was around the same mileage....one day my wife told me “the motor is making a weird noise” on a 60 mile trip home. I crank it when she got home and immediately heard awful valve clatter. Shut it off and found oil EVERYWHERE underneath. The lower intake plug (think where a distributor would’ve gone in the past) fell out and allowed almost all of the oil to leak out. It didn’t even register on the dipstick! Got it repaired, added 4 quarts of oil, and drove it another 100k miles. I owned another that also went over 240k without an issue! Just great, reliable motors! That cutlass should have a $2000-2500 asking price and settle for $1800. At $1500....that’s a steal!

And, the people who can't understand why you have the cars that you do, or they want supercars....are not smart enough anyways....I'd rather see the cars you have, any day over a supercar....I've seen other channels with supercars...doesn't really interest me..and a lot of other people.. because it's relative to life, and real people..anyone with money can make vids with supercars, and it's becoming too common...I actually hope you DONT get into supercars on the channel all the time...if you end up doing more expensive cars, you should do classics..you seem to like them.i LOVE them..and I think ALOT of other people would ,too

I've got a fleet of "beater" cars. The two nicest are a 1996 Ciera wagon (74k miles) and a 1993 Buick Century sedan (97k miles). They are going to be the primary use vehicles for our family for the foreseeable future. Great cars, I've had two other Cieras in the past. This wagon was a $950 (because of how physically nice it is) car that the seller claimed had a head gasket issue. 3k miles of driving on it so far has proven that to be false. The Century was $500 needed brakes and a torque converter solenoid. Easy to fix. These are the best cars for a person on a budget. Cheap to buy, cheap to fix, reasonably thrifty on fuel too.

I love your channel for what it is, and that’s rebuilding older, PRACTICAL cars. Don’t ever change. Btw I dropped a like on this video before I even watched it because, ya know...it’s one of your videos. Keep up the good work.

Too many super cars being rebuilt ON RUclips getting boring to watch. Find a honda or toyota ( or pinto) and fix it. I probably will never get a Hellcat or Lambo so interest is small. Also I enjoy walk arounds, showing what to look for when getting a car. With all the cars you got have vids on what to look for in a used car, put that lift to use!!! No Lambos!!!!!!!

I agree with you! Ac working, perfect working engine, lots of space .. i would buy it on budget! I bought like that volvo wagon with 4 air bags,ac working,abs..... Made 100 000 km with it and still runs strong. I bought anather car newer and left old volvo as working wheicle. So why not buy older wheicle.

This brings back memories of 90s. My first car in 1997 was a 1988 Cutlass Supreme with 2.8 engine and it was great car. My dad wrecked it otherwise i would still have it just for memories. Shame Oldsmobile is gone and i had over 10 of them and still own 2. Love your channel.

So why try to change it up by even thinking of putting up super cars?
Keep it plain and simple just like your cars themselves.

Had the same exact car just a different brand, it was a 1989 Chevy celebrity Eurosport wagon same color. Trans went out at 198,000 miles. Mine never had power locks though lol. It was a great car for high school I miss it so much

    Randy,
Now that you have a shop, have you thought about possibly fixing your followers cars? You would have video's of all kinds of cars that you could monetize. If the person would supply you with parts and you/Tim would do the labor? Just a thought.....

Sorry for my language, but fuck the haters...everyone else is doing supercars, good on them! You are working from the ground up like normal folk, showing that normal people can live this dream too! If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have started looking for a project car, given my complete lack of mechanical knowledge, but now I have located some like-minded individuals who have the other skills needed (engineering, mechanical, those who generally don't swear) etc!
Keep on keeping on, you're on the right path and there are so so so many more of us who support you and think you are doing a shit-hot job!

I prefer the style you have Randy. I love seeing cars that regular folks like us can buy being repaired! Forget the people telling you to buy a super car. As you’ve mentioned a few times, you bring back life to these cars! Most of these Copart cars are headed to a junkyard or partout facility. Keep up the GREAT work Randy

Randy AAR first of let's call the "lot" The sales Lane to keep everyone happy 😂 The lift is a brand not a quality they all have to meet or exceed lift specs so don't let them fool ya. The 500 cars is the smartest thing you can do we did it for years 3.1 cars we were getting and putting a junkyard engine in and selling them for 3500 with about 750 into them all said and done. The older cars are at a demand here for the less problems with inspection no emissions on 95 and older so the working class folks buy them to make it to work and not cruise the mall 24/7 😂 good luck man and keep the videos coming.

That Olds will make an excellent quick flip car for anybody with minimal money to spend. I think 1500 after it is cleaned up would be a good price. F those super cars, I love the cars you work on now and when you start on the super cars I will unsubscribe from your channel. Every wantabee out there is looking to be the next super car guru.
That underside of the Olds shows how nice that car is.

  • @0386rm

Randy, there's absolutely nothing wrong with your $500 cars. That Ciera is absolutely stunning! I'd buy it. You just don't see cars like that any more that aren't completely rotted away. I've even registered on Copart myself(not to buy to flip) but to see if I can find that off the wall car that isn't in rough shape and can drive under it's own power. I think you're a very humble guy and I agree with you about your rant about the people complaining you don't have any super cars, there's plenty other channels that just specialize in those.

K.I.S.S. Keep it simple stupid! Not saying your stupid,, (just how the saying goes )in fact I think you are smart keeping it this way. Your channel is realistic and us average people can relate to it better than those super car guys. We all like to see things that are not out of reach for ourselves. I was a bit worried about you when you started fantasizing about the Corvette, but I'm glad to see you have your feet back on the ground. Thanks for a wonderful channel.

    hi Randy,
I agree with Todd below. You do a wonderful job of explaining things, which has given me a tremendous insight on the used car market. Your formula is different for this channel than supercar channels, I can watch Tav or others for that information. I like the Prius, Oldsmobile, old pickup trucks, Impalas and other stuff featured on your channel. I think you should continue with regular cars, I also believe that the cars you have sold will provide the buyers with good transportation. In some cases you might consider doing more work, like fixing the batteries in the recent Prius. Your choice, and I also understand your decisions.
Wishing you continued success, you have nailed down some very interesting content.

Great job building your own brand. I say brand because that is what you've done and that's a good thing. I personally watch you because you do everyday cars like a Oldsmobile and the Prius. It interests people because they have owned a car just like that. It brings back memories and helps people realize 'Hey I can go buy a cheap car and tinker with on the weekends and maybe make a couple buck's ' That's your brand. Watching your videos made me get a membership to Co Part.

I am happy to hear that you are planning to buy a trailer. You doing good with these cheap rides. This will make quick money into your pocket :). I know you are busy with everything but please buy a cheap used sofa and put into the office container. Is good to have a relax corner for visitors or friends. It also increases working morale. You also will feel yourself more home when you can sit down and eat you pizza with friends. Nothing fancy just the basics.

I plan of doing this same things you are. However after doing some research I have discovered that nation wide it is illegal to buy and sell cars for a profit without a dealers license. My plan is to sell my current house (which I have a boat load of equity in) and find another house with a massive barn and buy a rollback tow back. In order to get a dealers license in my state I must prove that my company is worth $75k, have a $15k bond and $1m insurance policy. Must be on a commercial lot of at lest 2k sq ft and must have a office of at least 100 sq ft and "must be open to the public during ordinary hours." The commercial property part is really killing my dream because I want to work out of a shop at home on my own time. I want to just be able to walk out my back door and get to working not have to go somewhere. Plus just starting out paying rent is just not a option. For me this will be more of a part time hobby biz on my own time while still holding down a full time job. anyway cheers hopefully i get something figured out a way around.

Randy why not get your bro and gf more involved in the channel? It would add a different dynamic. I would love to see your girl's reaction next time you bring home the next $300 POS or you going off on your brother because he did something bone headed. Just normal things associated with what you do. I like that what you do is real but maybe it would make things more interesting to have them more involved. Just a thought....

Love your full disclosure on how your building to a great channel. Randy time a persistence will make you great. Don't worry about those who want Supercars now. Keep going the way you are till your cash flow grows. Hopefully those who have premature expectations will understand and learn what it takes to build up and those who don't will move on to channels that have already done the hard yards. Some cars as you know just need to be saved with out a lot of profit. Randy please don't go down the smashing cars up lane it's not what your channel is about. Also for liability purposes don't let just any one in your workshop especially once you start making some serious Money. You will get targeted. Love what you do grow and prosper. Take Care Little Aussie Follower.

My friend still has my ‘95 Ford Taurus. He and his wife are in their ‘80’s and on SSI. He said to me if I ever decide to get a newer car he wanted to buy my Taurus. He knew I took care of my vehicles. I don’t normally sell to friends but I knew my car was in great shape and I knew he took care of his cars. There is a market for the older cars.

Stop buying all those cars new that sit at your house, and invest in better cars to flip! You will come out ahead in the long run! What a pile of shit! One nicer car can bring as much profit as 5 $500 cars bring in! Think about it. Most of the time you sound like you are talking yourself into the things that you do.
